What will I find here?
— Rudy Francisco
there’s no in between
Fragmented Symphony
By Oliver Q.
We are born as broken pieces,
Fractured stars,
Clutching our corners,
Thinking the world ends at the edges
Of our own skin.
In quiet moments,
We hear the hum
Of something larger
Whispering beneath our ribs.
Our hands, when they touch,
Are maps unfolding
In the dark.
Alone, we are notes
In a forgotten melody—
A sound so small
It vanishes on the wind.
But together, we rise.
We become the song
That shatters silence,
Each voice lifting the next
Until the sky sings back.
We are not whole until
We collide.
Until we see
That the distance between us
Was always the rhythm
That kept us in time.
Tomorrow I begin my journey home!
Very excited to see my cats <3

Due to my travels, I will not be very active for the next week and a bit.
Sincerest apologies!!
I love reading, not for the words, but for the moment when they disappear and merge with my awareness of reality, like a soul freed from paper.
Pen and paper > typing
“Good writing is supposed to evoke sensation in the reader – not the fact that it is raining, but the feeling of being rained upon.”
― E. L. Doctorow.
I bear the weight of unspoken words - ones that desperately needed to be heard, but never found their voice. I am perpetually consumed by thoughts of you. So much so, I’ve deluded myself into believing that this collection might resolve any lingering anguish. If I am honest with myself, which you always urged me to be, I foolishly cling to the hope that these pages, instilled with memories, might one day reach you.
No, that is not entirely accurate.
Ultimately, I cannot bear the thought of forgetting. Father always told me these moments are few and precious, slipping through our fingers if we are not careful. Thus, I want to remember everything - the delicate dusting of freckles across the bridge of your nose, a tiny constellation only I have memorized; the small mole on your left shoulder, a mark I have traced countless times; even the veins that snake across your calloused hands, which I know better than my own. I wish to recall your entirety for as long as I can; not just fleeting moments that surface when something or another reminds me of you. Until the inevitable day when my tongue can no longer string together the syllables of your name.
Please, too, remember me always.

Stories are an emotional game — You arrange sentences like puzzle pieces, hoping for them to fall in place or create a solution to an unsolved part of yourself you’ve left in the unknown.
it turns out actually that writing is easy if you don’t go to work and don’t have to clean your house and don’t have to run errands and don’t have to pay bills and don’t have any babies or pets to feed and don’t have any obligations to fulfill and also you have 27 free hours every day and 13 million dollars cash
🕯️ Oli’s Inkwell Symposium Presents 🕯️
Halloween Writing Challenge 1:
Monsters in the Mirror
Prompt:
🎭 We all wear masks, but what happens when that mask slips? For this challenge, write a chilling short story or flash fiction where a character’s hidden, monstrous nature reveals itself at a seemingly innocent Halloween gathering.
Is the monster literal, or does it come from within? As fear takes hold, identities blur and the true horrors emerge.
Focus on psychological horror, exploring themes of self-deception, suppressed desires, and twisted identity.
The monster in your story can be metaphorical or literal, but make sure the story challenges the character’s—and the reader’s—perception of who the real monster is.
The story should contain elements of dark transformation (physical, mental, or emotional), making the reader question the true nature of monstrosity.
⚡ The Twist: The true ‘monster’ should be unexpected. By the end of the story, reveal a hidden truth that changes everything the reader thought they knew.
🕸️ Word Count: 700–2,000 words. Keep it tight and packed with suspense.
🦇 Bonus: Subtly introduce classic horror tropes, with a fresh twist.
