Good evening, I hope you're well!
I came across your profile a couple of days ago through the work "When to Fight, When to Wait" and I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE STORIES. I read ALL of them at once after I finished rewatching Sonic Underground.
There's something that's been bothering me. I don't know if you've already answered this question, I'm sorry but I'll send it anyway:
Why didn't Sonic keep in touch with his brothers after leaving Mobotropolis? It's understandable the trauma and bad memories he has related to that place. Even if he wasn't going back, why didn't he send a letter, or anything to let them know he was okay? Or to find out if his brothers were alright?
It seems like he simply abandoned them both, and at the worst possible moment for the three of them, after their mother's death, a destroyed kingdom, and frightened citizens. They are so young, they didn't deserve to go through that.
Another thing, if I remember correctly, in your universe it was Eggman himself who chose that nickname for himself, wasn't it? Or was it Sonic who gave him the nickname, just like in the game's canon? It was canonized in Tailstube that Sonic nicknamed him that and Eggman adopted the nickname to avoid being teased (it didn't help much, after all, Sonic continued to call him that). Does the same context apply to your universe?
Another question about Eggman: does he know that Mobotropolis has reopened its borders for trade? Did he see news about Manic and Sonia? How come he didn't just leak to everyone that Sonic is the third prince of Mobotropolis?
Sorry if you don't understand me, i used the translate.
Hi! I'm fine, hope you are too! Thank you for the questions! Sorry, took me a while to get to this because I was busy! And I understood your questions, don't worry!
I'm so glad you like the series!
As for why Sonic lost touch with his siblings, I'm not sure I want to fully answer that right now as I will probably cover it in the story at some point. But it has a lot to do with what he thinks they think of him after leaving. The shame mostly. I'll leave it at that for now.
And Eggman. I'm actually not sure if I've said why he changed his name. If I've answered this somewhere else, uh... take this as the real answer now, ha. I like to think it was a nickname that Sonic gave him that Robotnik then clung to in order to distance himself further from what happened in Robotropolis/Mobotropolis. This sort of goes into the second question about him too. See, the Queen's death was an accident and it changed Robotnik's perspective a little. He goes from using the Robotisizer to using live animals as batteries instead - still messed up but not quite as brutal. He also has great shame associated with Mobotropolis. He also knows - rather, suspects - Sonic has his own issues with the city, therefore he does not reveal what is not his to reveal. Eggman will not meddle any more in Sonic's personal life. Guilt is a big factor here. Frankly, I believe he may be a little frightened at what Sonic might do if he were to anger him too.
Hope that answers your questions! Mostly at least, I know there was one I didn't really answer.
