i love having a corporeal form. i love eating warm food on cold days. i love taking hot showers. i love sleeping on clean sheets. i delight in earthly decadence. i wake up and eat warm bread slathered in butter. i own multiple pairs of soft fuzzy socks. this body is so comfy and i'm not returning it any time soon

Parents and teachers in Canada will now have an âeducational toolkitâ to help them if they notice a child being groomed by a hate group.
Parents and teachers in Canada will now have an âeducational toolkitâ to help them if they notice a child being groomed by a hate group.
The new resource, launched by the Canadian government in partnership with the Canadian Anti-Hate Network, intends to combat the growing prevalence of hate groups online. Members of those groups, most of whom were raised in the digital age, are becoming more adept at recruiting. For example, the neo-Nazi terror group The Base, as well as other neo-Nazi groups, have used meme websites to recruit young people, usually male teenagers, into their movement.
Authorities are still figuring out ways to effectively combat the problem.
The toolkit can be found online free of charge here and contains modules that run teachers and parents through a variety of subjects related to hate groups, such as ideologies and recruitment techniques. One of the sections presents scenarios and offers ways to handle to them from a variety of perspectives. Elizabeth Simons, the deputy director for the Canadian Anti-Hate Network, said that the examples were all taken from real-world events that had occurred in Canada.
"The scenarios in the toolkit deal with increasing severity of what hate might look like within the school community, said Simons.âYou start out with anonymous hate promotionâso that could be graffiti, that could be a swastika on a desk.
âIt starts from there and then it escalates all the way to overt hate organizing within the school community and outside the school communityâ she added.
The project is one of the latest anti-racism initiatives rolled out by Canadaâs government. In a Wednesday press conference announcing the project, Ahmed Hussen, the minister of housing diversity and inclusion, said that in total the government "has invested $35 million to fund 175 anti-racism projects across the country."
Again, the link to the toolkit is https://www.antihate.school . I haven't read through the whole thing yet, but knowing the CAHN, it should be a good start. Of course, a tool can only serve its purpose if people use it, so I'm hoping this will be part of curriculum in schools across the country.

The woman who doesnât require validation from anyone is the most feared individual on the planet.
You've heard this refrain before -- giving money to homeless people is not the best way to help them because it might be squandered, or spen
âResearchers gave 50 recently homeless people a lump sum of 7,500 Canadian dollars (nearly $5,700). They followed the cash recipients' life over 12-18 months and compared their outcomes to that of a control group who didn't receive the payment. The preliminary findings, which will be peer-reviewed next year, show that those who received cash were able to find stable housing faster, on average. By comparison, those who didn't receive cash lagged about 12 months behind in securing more permanent housing.
People who received cash were able to access the food they needed to live faster. Nearly 70% did after one month, and maintained greater food security throughout the year. The recipients spent more on food, clothing and rent, while there was a 39% decrease in spending on goods like alcohol, cigarettes or drugs.â
Itâs almost like people self medicate to survive intense stress like, idk, not having the cash to live anywhere but outdoors. People who are extremely poor do not want to be poor, we WANT to be safe and have autonomy in our lives but capitalism makes that impossible for some people.
And drug/alcohol abuse, even when prioritized over eating and other necessities, isnât some kind of alien mindset, itâs very often a matter of not having the resources to actually be safe and fully meet your actual needs so you have to cope somehow with the suffering that deprivation causes.
any other neurodivergent teachers just have the urge to like,,, corral all the kids with ieps/504s/accommodations/who stand out/etc. and just tell them itâs okay to âactuallyâ be who they are? ik it would require violating hipaa but i canât help but want to make sure as many kids as possible have the chance to grow up differently than i did
i used to want to run a boarding school for this reason but the logistics seem impossible đ
also, it pains me to listen to my coworkers talk about their âproblemâ students and guessing that they might be neurodivergent. i keep thinking about how much i would have liked to have a teacher who openly stimmed while they were in the classroom or did literally anything else associated with neurodivergence bc even if the students were nt, the fact that they will spend years trying to unlearn the message that thereâs something wrong with them is concerning???
why is it so hard to get people to be nice to each other :/
The condensation
i cannot emphasize enough how important it is to have gossipy bitchy littl pirvate group chats or discord servers with like 4 people in them whose stated purpose is posting ânew kind of guyâ or âthis reddit post is so fuckin dumbâ or âi got into a fight on twitter today look at this idiotâs replyâ so your homies can still see it and laugh and back you up but more importantly, so you are not tempted to post these kind of things on main
# you can also practice just having self control in private in general # for example i do my best to never shit talk actual people ever # i can guarantee you that if you never form the habit of talking about anyone behind their back you will not do that. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
seriously, there really is no reason to gossip, the whole âeveryone does itâ rings hard like all those âeveryone spanks their kidsâ bullshit. Yeah they do, and you still shouldnât do that. Pick up a weird hobby like organizing bricks by color in minecraft like the rest of us.Â
Mmmm, gonna back op on this one.
I kind of wonder what youâre picturing when you hear this, because what Iâm picturing is stuff like critiquing the fanfic we read way more frankly than we ever would to an authorâs face.
âGossipâ has a number of important social functions, and like any other social interaction it is a tool that can be used in good or bad ways.
We discuss positive and negative interactions weâve had later and in private with our friend groups because this helps us process them. It can be a vibe check (âdoes it seem like this person was acting out of line towards me?â) or an analysis (âwhy do you think they did that? what do you think I should have done?â) or data compilation (âis this a pattern? has this happened to anyone else?â) or data sharing (âhey this alarming interaction happened, watch outâ) or just venting to channel emotions into a place where theyâre safe to have (âfriend is processing bad thing and Iâm upset on their behalf, so I need do my own processing somewhere elseâ).
If you canât complain about your boss to your friends, how do you even figure out what bad boss behavior looks like?
And when some strangerâs being a dick on social media it is usually infinitely healthier and more constructive to go chat that argument out with your friends than to let yourself get sucked into fighting with someone very likely more interested in hurting people than listening.
Figuring out which social circles are the most beneficial places to have which discussions is a huge part of figuring out how to navigate the world and building yourself the support network you need.
Also like⌠sometimes you find something annoying, even if that thing is ultimately harmless. And sometimes you have to put up with seeing a lot of people absolutely love a thing that you find really fucking annoying. Which is frustrating, so you want to vent about having to constantly put up with seeing that fucking thing you hate. Venting about it publicly is a horrible idea, because that might start an argument you donât want to deal with, or it could lead to people who have never heard of the thing deciding itâs morally wrong and harassing anyone who does like it, or it could just make people who love the thing feel bad about themselves. And none of those are great consequences, because the thing is completely harmless, itâs just not the sort of thing you like; youâre not going to argue itâs merits when you donât care, but itâs wrong for anyone to be harassed or made to feel bad about liking something completely harmless.
Yâknow what doesnât have those problems? Talking to your friends in a private space, and complaining about how you canât fucking stand this thing that most people love.
And itâs a hell of a lot healthier than the alternative method, which is just bottling up that frustration forever, or coming up with bullshit reasons for why the thing you personally dislike is Problematic and therefor fair game for public shit-talking (and also means the people who do like the thing you hate deserve any harassment they get, so you donât need to feel guilty). Donât do that. Just complain about stuff you donât like to your friends, save everyone a lot of trouble.

âIf youâre a political enemy of fascism though, either they lose or you dieâ
Important
The image description I wrote of this, the last time it crossed my dash:
Image description: a photo set taken from a YouTube video (the second and third are animated gifs), showing a white man with a trimmed beard and mustache sitting in front of a white wall, next to a bookcase.
The captions read:
If youâre a fascist and anti-fascists come for you, you have a choice. You can give it up. You can renounce what you said. You could just go on with the rest of your life and stop turning up at fascist rallies. Anti-fascists probably arenât gonna buy you a pint and be your best friend but theyâll move on. But if youâre a person of color, if youâre trans, or a person with a disability, or gay or Jewish, and fascist come for you â There is nothing you can do that can make them happy, except to stop existing. Thatâs the key difference between the far left and the far right. Anti-fascists organize themselves against those that are building fascism. If youâre doing that, that is something you can non-violently stop doing. If youâre a political enemy of antifa, you can become a friend. (On-screen header, bold letters: âFriend/Enemy Distinctionâ) If youâre a political enemy of fascism though, either they lose or you die. End description
Living in DC right now is really fun because youâll go to the grocery store for the first time in over a week, see a white man buying tiki torches, and instantly decide that you donât actually need eggs or milk or fresh produce and hightail itÂ
Living in DC right now is really fun because youâll clock in at your place of work, which happens to be across the street from one of the cityâs largest synagogues, and youâll see four white bald men with american flag neck buffs as masks and black hoodies walk towards it and you will, for a moment, question whether people are about to die and debate what exactly it is you need to do about it
Living in DC right now is really fun because my family has decided to make the choice to stay in the city and stockpile groceries for the next two weeks. An estimated 20% of the city will be leaving to shelter elsewhere for the week of the inauguration. Any other time in US history, an inauguration draws in Washingtonians and Americans from across the continent. It is supposed to be a celebration of democracy. Instead, we have empty houses and a city preparing for violence waged by non-residents while our streets and our homes pay the cost.
Living in DC is really fun right now because youâll get woken up at 6:17 am by the sound of humvees driving down your block. They are on their way to secure one of the dozens of streets, bridges, and highways that are being shut down to keep out white supremacists. A soldier in uniform waves good morning while you get your usual order from Dunkinâ Donuts. He has kind eyes behind the mask. You wonder who he voted for.
I feel sorry for the old man, but it was stealing. There is no apparently about it. Water is not free, itâs not a right to have it, and people pay must pay for it. If a government gives a thing to you like utilities, its still not free because they take it from somewhere else, like in taxes. Â

Unfriendly reminder that Breonna Taylor was killed three whole months ago, and they're only now deciding to fire one of the three criminals. This is not justice.
