HI so! I just lost my account for like 2 days because of a scamming operation! So now thanks so much to the REAL tumblr support i'll be telling you all about it because what the floofing fuck the last 2 days have been stressful.
So It all started when someone dm'd me here on tumblr, apologizing for spamreporting my account with their friends. saying it was a misunderstanding and that they meant to do it to someone else. They then referred me to a supposed tumblr staff member on discord who would help me dispute the case. (I dont have screenshots of the messages because they have blocked themselves and i was locked out initially. )

Ari Levine is an actual executive staff member, but they are NOT this person on Discord.
They sent me a bunch of stuff.
When they ask you to change your email
This will allow them to log into your account and they can afterwards change the password and lock you out of it. (This is what happened to me)
They can then use your account to contact more people. I counted 11 DM's sent to accounts where they nearly got started. Thank God tumblr support were really quick about changing my email after i filed the report. I suspect that may be what happened with the account that contacted me.
They also asked me which banking apps i was registred with (i am an idiot so i did actually tell them)
They also asked to see my recent transaction history. This is where I kinda believed it was legit because the said i could fill in details on my own.
and then this is pretty much where shit went downhill
They make you use paypal or purchase giftcards that are then sent through emails.
They also used the FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Coorporation) and threats of legal action in case i wasnt able to comply with the payments
This was the point where my actual bank saw the transactions, stepped in and blocked my card. Had they blocked it only a minute after this message was sent, I would've lost 600$ worth of national currency.
This was right after my bank CALLED me and asked me about the transactions and purchases And when I told them about what happened, they informed me that this was most likely a scamming operation.
The person still tried to contact me after that
funny how the FDIC just suddenly backed off after supposedly breathing down my neck for the last 2 days.
Harm was done. I lost my account for a bit and as mentioned when the REAL tumblr support helped me get it back, there were a bunch of dm's sent from my account to various other accounts.
I also fell for the scam and lost about 320$ to this scam.
please please PLEASE be careful and do NOT believe the reports or dm's. Tumblr support will reach out THEMSELVES if you've been the case of many reports and they will do so through email.
What's done is done, all I can do now is inform everyone else and hope this helps someone not make the same mistake I did.
