So if you’re a Harry Potter stan and you just have to be obsessed with a kids series written by an English woman about a young wizard boy learning magic under an eccentric headmaster with an interesting potions guy, a silly male best friend, a clever female best friend, a blonde haired guy who is evil but eventually gets redemption, an evil wizard/necromancer who has a young boy he very clearly pressures into it as his sidekick, an evil piece of jewelry, and a dragon… might I recommend to you the Septimus Heap series, instead of Harry Potter? It’s very similar to Harry Potter but 1) not nearly as much blatant bigotry 2) I literally don’t even know the author’s name so she’s not in a position to do harm even if she is very bigoted 3) high fantasy! it’s kind of medieval, the dragon has a major role, there’s a ghost army 4) cool magic system that makes fucking sense 5) focuses on the big happy wizard family as well as the orphan boy and 6) actually good. so. just in case anyone is looking for an incredibly similar thing to get into and you weren’t aware of these books: here. have this.

Don't get me wrong, I love Harry Potter series but Septimus Heap is definitely worth reading. BEAUTIFUL story ❤

It only took a couple of years, but here are some more Sep Stats! Following on from the charater graphs in Magyk (find them in my post here) here are the deets for all of the characters that make an appearance in Flyte

Over the books 49 chapters (plus prologue and epilogue) a grand total of 148 characters make an appearance, a whole 54 than in Magyk.

1st Plot is a stacked bar graph showing the amount of chapters that the major charaters in Flyte appear/are mentioned in. The total chapters they appear in are shown in blue, with chapters that they are only mentioned in are shown in red. Jenna is in the most amount of chapters (47/51), closely followed by Septimus at 46 and Simon on 44.

2nd plot is another stacked bar graph of the same format, this time showing the more minor characters. All characters here appear/are mentioned less than 5 times.

I use appear to mean that the charater is physically in a scene, and mention to mean that the charater is spoken about (either by name or clearly identifiable info) but not actually there. Interestingly enough, Jenna has the highest total but Septimus actually appears in more chapters.

When Simon was little, silas stepped on a snail by accident and simon was so upset, they had to take the snail out to the forest and give it a burial and a proper funeral and after that he always walked in front of everyone else in the family Just In Case
