Another half assed Damiano headcanon/kind-of-analisys because he's eating my brain.
I refuse that thing of “born evil” thing so I want to give him something to “explain” why is he the way he is.
He was already born in that life, already born in the spadaro clan with his father, Massimo, as a capo.

Since very little had to learn how to fight, how to make people respect and fear him, fear was a very important part because for Massimo respect was nothing without fear, that's what kept people in line, what mattered the most.
He was pressured to do his own part in the family in the future, exposed to violence from a young age but not because Massimo was actively trying to traumatize or scare his son, because he didn't see it as something traumatizing, he didn't see the harm in exposing his young children to violence (this including Corrado too)
Why would they be different if they were raised the same way?
-because they're not the same person, regardless of people being raised the exact same way in the same environment they're still different people, react and behave in different ways.
Damiano was raised to be the way he is, which is why he doesn't understand why people don't like him, why people are disgusted by him.
*In the first fight with Enzo you can clearly hear people mocking Damiano and berating him for fighting him.
He's not the same person he is with adults that he considers worth of socializing with, people he doesn't explode against for the sake of social normalcy and the person he is with people he has much power over, people he is supposed to be mean to.
The constant training, the expectations of him to be something useful in the family tore him in pieces and stitched them back together wrong, not easy to break but unstable.
If things don't go the way they're supposed to go, he gets angry, obviously but his anger immediately becomes yelling, walking back and forth, fist clenched tight to the point his veins are clear under his skin.
Violence at first was something that scared him, his reactions were extremely desperate because at first he was a child fighting grown men, he was easily overpowered many times and used his adrenaline, extreme measures to make sure they didn't get up to try him again.
That's where the red flags started, the first time he went overboard with it. He successfully managed to take down one of his “training mates” and hold him down when he was 14 years old. At first Massimo had been delighted, cheering for him.
Then it happened, he started punching the man on the face, over and over and over and over again, he didn't stop when his father yelled at him to stop, he didn't stop when corrado told him to stop.
He didn't stop until his father dragged him away, scolding him and confusing Damiano, that's what he was supposed to do, that's quite literally what he was training to do. It made him feel inadequate, like a disappointment.
It also made him angry, first he had to stop being a coward and fight, now he had to stop being so violent and calm down.
He had killed a couple of people by accident before his father died, it's not that he didn't mean it,it's that he shouldn't have done it.
Most of the time he was a good son, he was something to be held with pride in his family but the times he messed up, the times he felt like he was the worst to ever happen to his family, like Corrado and his father only pretended to love him, like nobody loved him.
Of course, that was not true but Damiano lost his mind whenever he was scolded a little too much.
He was loved, his father did love him, just damiano didn't feel like it was true most of the time.
Then his father died, ripped away from him and his brother.
He was devastated, of course he was, only remained in full pieces thanks to Corrado.
But at the same time, he felt a certain amount of freedom. Spadaro didn't control him as much, to Ruggero he was the perfect amount of destructive almost every single time, barely any failure and Damiano couldn't be happier.
He started to relax, he found joy in violence, safety, power. He painfully learned when he had to run and when he had to fight, he always played dirty, did everything he could to destroy his enemies, make sure nothing came back to chase him and spadaro appreciated that, it was an effective way to get rid of any loose ends.
i wanted to see them together so badly.. so i made it.
the model of freaking awesome duo. do you feel it too when you look at them? they are so cool
also noticed that they have a red/blue duo (and wristbands)
and it pleases me to think that Damsel is a close and loyal comrade-in-arms of Nines, whom he trusts.
i don't know how to explain this feeling, but it's just really nice
ps. i just remembered that she was the one who guarded Nines after his battle with the werewolf-
