my stance on the trans athlete debate is always and forever going to be that sports should be completely desegregated because humans have one of the smallest levels of sexual dimorphism in the animal kingdom and the disparity we see between male and female performance is entirely caused by social factors rather than anything biological. “should trans women compete against cis women” i think cis men and cis women could compete fairly but that’s apparently a little too spicy for people to wrap their minds around bc they’ve been told their whole lives women are biologically inferior & never thought to question that. or wonder if it’s maybe a self fulfilling prophecy of some kind. are women biologically inferior or do they appear so because patriarchy demands that of us?

It is true that women are socialized to eat less and exercise less. But first of all, do you have a plan to completely eliminate this factor before unleashing the unisex sports utopia, or are all women just going to be collateral damage until somehow this socialization spontaneously disappears? Secondly, while this is a factor to consider on a societal level, it is frankly idiotic to expect that female athletes that have been training in a specialized way for their sport for their entire lives just haven't worked hard enough or eaten enough to be as fast or strong as men. Social pressures are a factor but not the entire story. we are sexually dimorphic creatures, and even if that dimorphism is smaller than in other species, we measure our sports by the millisecond and the pound, and that difference shows up.

"biologically inferior" do you hear yourself? female people have different physical skills. they are not "biologically inferior" for not being able to dead lift as much as a man or run as fast as a man. Female people have better endurance, but that's not valued by most sports. The idea that women have to be able to match every physical record of men 1:1 or else they are inferior creatures is straight up sexist rhetoric.

i think its telling that basically no meaningful percentage of women who actually play competitive sports have this opinion. because they know most women would no longer be able to play in their sports aside from a few genuine female outliers in a sea of men. the men who would be reaping the money and the glory even more than they already are. I would say I want OPs idea to actually be implemented just so we could all see how fucking stupid it is and put it to rest once and for all, but I wouldn't want female athletes to have to be martyred just to remind first world idiots who don't get off the couch that male and female people are not identical.

I am so incredibly sick of this attitude that policies that hurt women are okay because, "It's incredibly rare, it's fine." No.

If ONE woman dies, becomes trapped in an abusive relationship, has to postpone her education, or falls into poverty because she couldn't access an abortion, that's too many.

If ONE woman is killed by her male family members in an honor killing, that's too many.

If ONE little girl is raped and is forced to marry her rapist, that's too many.

If ONE woman is raped or hurt by a trans male in prison, that's too many.

If ONE girl is a victim of FGM, that's too many.

I am not willing to accept ANY number of women as collateral damage. None, zero. And I am incredibly suspicious of people who seem willing to sacrifice women for their agendas.
