Robert Eads was a transgender man who transitioned later in life and as such it was deemed inadvisable for him to seek sex reassignment surgery. He was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1996 but was refused treatment by more than a dozen doctors, some for personal reasons and others on the grounds that taking him on as a patient might harm their practice. When he finally found a doctor to treat him in 1997, the cancer had already metastasized to other parts of his body, rendering any further treatments futile. He passed away in 1999. His life and death was the subject of the award-winning documentary Southern Comfort (2001).
As i’m sure many of you have heard, the Trump administration just passed a ruling that would remove LGBT+ anti-discrimination protections in health care and health insurance. I immediately thought of this man’s story when I heard about the ruling. Stories like this are the reason why those protections are necessary.
It’s easy to feel hopeless with all the bad news our community has been bombarded with recently. But we have to keep fighting, and one way we can fight is through legal means.
Here are some organizations who have announced plans to take action in court. If you can donate to any of them, please do!
LAMBDA Legal: one of the first to announce they would take legal action against the ruling, LAMBDA Legal is the oldest and largest national legal organization advocating for LGBTQ+ people and people with HIV.
We make the case for equality in the nation s courts and in the court of public opinion. The work we do has impact on the way all of us li

The stated mission of TLC is to connect transgender people and their families to technically sound and culturally competent legal services, increase acceptance and enforcement of laws and policies that support transgender communities, and work to change laws and systems that fail to incorporate the needs and experiences of transgender people.

i’m not a big blog or a small blog i’m just an idiot
Reminder that it really doesn’t matter what ways you’re marginalized, if you’re not black you’re just as capable of anti blackness as white cishet people. No amount of “but I’m gay!”, “but I’m trans!”, or “but I’m not white!” changes that.
And being neurodiverse/disabled isn’t an excuse for anti blackness either.
Don’t like this post if you’re not gonna also reblog it.
Boost my voice, don’t just like it for woke points.
I’d fucking love it if white people didn’t use this post to pat themselves on the back. I guarantee that no amount of “don’t people know this already?” or “isn’t this obvious?” will actually make you a good ally to black people.
The only things that will make you a good ally to us is listening to us, boosting our voices, defending us when we need it, calling out your fellow whites when they display overt and/or covert racist behavior, and checking yourself consistently.
y’all, i feel like i need to remind y’all that there’s a huge difference between ignoring what’s going on, and taking a mental break because you’re exhausted with trying to keep up with the situation in the country right now. this shit is no joke and is weighing incredibly heavy on people such as myself and if you need to take a break from this and just log out, please do. please take care of yourself and don’t feel bad that you’re not keeping up with things at every second of the day.
Here’s the difference for those who dont know
Ignoring: damn, all this is so annoying, people really need to move on. “Not all cops!” “All Lives Matter!!”
Mental health break: the overwhelming feeling that I cant do anything combined with the fact that everything is extremely violent means that my anxiety (and other mental issues) and going through the roof and I physically cant handle it anymore
This is an incredibly important distinction!!
reminder that this blog, while not politically focused, supports BLM. bootlickers and racists aren’t welcome here, and never will be.
YOURE TELLING ME THIS IS WHAT THEY'VE BEEN SHOOTING PROTESTERS WITH????
YEP! These are meant to be skipped into the ground and then spin into people's legs and dissuade people from advancing or move them away. FIRING THEM AT PEOPLE'S HEADS IS 100% AGAINST THE PROPER USE. AND THEY ARE SHOOTING THESE AT MEDICS. DOCTORS, EMTS, AND NURSES. AT CLOSE RANGE. THESE CAN BREAK YOUR SKULL. THEY ARE NOT A JOKE. THIS IS LESS LETHAL LIKE A BASEBALL BAT IS LESS LETHAL THAN A SWORD. BOTH STILL CAN KILL.
I only found out today they’re meant to be fired at the ground to bounce back at protesters... I don’t think I’ve ever seen the cops use them that way

The thing about adhd is like if you hit any sort of roadblock while doing a task, no matter how small an obstacle, it’s gonna throw you completely off track.
like for example:
I’m hungry and I want to eat. But when I get to the kitchen I realize I have to cook something. It’s not that hard but it’s something in the middle of where I am now and me eating. So I end up not eating.
I’m cleaning my room. There are dirty clothes all over the floor. But my laundry basket is full and so I can’t put my dirty clothes where they are supposed to go. Now my momentum for cleaning is shut down and I go back to something I know how to do, like change playlists.
and that’s on executive dysfunction
