people take "drug seeking is a nonsense framework" to mean that like, no one ever lies to get drugs in medical contexts which is just categorically untrue but the question they don't bother to ask themselves is "why do people feel the need to lie to get drugs?" which leads into the further question of "why would someone abuse stimulants/opioids/etc" which is like. i feel like kinda the major question one should ask no. why do people do drugs. what reasons might someone have to lie. why do we exist in a system in which people feel the only way to make decisions with their own body is to lie to medical professionals.
drug seeking is a nonsense framework not because people don't ever lie to get drugs for recreational use or whatever but because people shouldn't have to go through medical hoops to get drugs period. regardless of if for recreational use or otherwise.
"drug seeking" as a patient one of the most dogshit stupid concepts of all time. fuuuck everybody look out this guy came in here expecting medical treatment. better watch out in case he goes to a restaurant and starts food seeking
no, this is absolutely something that happens with stimulants and i've seen it firsthand, and it makes it harder for people with actual adhd to get the treatment that works best for us. we're not actually helping either patients or ppl with substance abuse problems by downplaying that this happens with controlled substances. same applies to benzos and opioids. this isn't even speculation it's well documented.
i also have "actual ADHD," your difficulty in accessing the meds you need is entirely caused by medical gatekeeping and by manufacturing limits that stem from the "war on drugs" and hostility towards the very addicts you disdain. you are not better than others
the USA effectively controls other nations' production and supply of stimulants for managing adhd, such as the case in Australia. You can't really be doing this "sometimes the control over supply of stimulants are good" song and dance aa if the enforcement regime for this control is neutral and local.

I thought this was an art piece as a metaphor for executive dysfunction

portal 2 is an american gothic horror story about an incredibly traumatized and exploited girl who was forced into a perpetual hell of servitude by the forces of capital and infinite growth. portal 2 is about how science owes its greatest achievements to women who never received any credit or control over the industries that they created. portal 2 is about how tech companies dehumanize and exploit feminized labor. portal 2 is about physically exploring a woman's repressed memories and realizing she was right to kill all those people with deadly neurotoxin. portal 2 is about fighting the piece of you they created to keep you weak and easy to control, ripping it out, and sending it to the fucking moon. portal 2 is about helping your traumatized girlfriend come to grips with her violent past. portal 2 is about how tech CEOs are so fucking stupid they would probably die from snorting moon rocks. portal 2 is about rape and exploitation and capitalism and vivisection and everything that would make you go 'ewwie' if it wasnt happening to a gigantic robot
harnessed this things essence lol and all that he once was is now redused to this. kept his husk alive just bc i was bored lol
I explained the concept of "blorbo from my shows" to my 71 year old immigrant grandfather because I referenced it in passing and I thought nothing of it, until today when he said "I think I'll watch peaky blinders tonight and see my blorbo from my shows" referring, of course, to Cillian Murphy playing Tommy Shelby
English isn't his first language so he's not super in touch with modern slang, so I've been accidentally teaching him to talk like a tumblr user. His favorite thing to say lately is "me when I'm a little hater" when he's like talking shit about the neighbor's son
I explained the “x before gta6” meme to my immigrant father and he, in turn, explained to me how back in his day in Romania, they had the same type of joke, except instead of it being gta6, it was about the imminent death of a singer named Gică Petrescu, who everyone was continuously shocked by because he refused to die. Every time a momentous event happened people would say, in essence: “This happened and Gică Petrescu hasn’t even died yet?!?”
So. He understood the gta6 meme immediately because they apparently had the same thing in Romania when he was young, except way, way more morbid
OP are you telling me we got the death of Gică Petrescu before we got gta6
Hi, its me. The warmest creature in the world. I love you. Im the warmest creature in the world and I love you so much and I need to be in your lap right now. Yes, I know about the heat wave. That's okay though because I was already the warmest creature in the world so I don't mind. I love you and you need to let me sleep in your lap right now. I'm soooo warm and I love you sooo much. If you say no you'll be saying no to a thing that love you. Let me sleep in your lap. When I fall asleep I get warmer. I love you
and i don't necessarily believe any of this i'm just saying words recreationally
they should invent weed that makes your tits bigger and it should be free.
genuinely so obsessed with this twitter post
there was another update
couldn't find a thread with both the followups together
Not on purpose!
I'm not even nearly as anti-LLM as most other leftists but part of approaching new technology is "hey let's think real critically about the application and scope of this so we can use it in ways that are worth it and don't cause mass scale societal damage" but the fact that it's being injected into fucking EVERYTHING makes any stance more cautious than "USE LLMS FOR EVERYTHING NOW AND FOREVER" so much more anti than the status quo that I don't even fucking want to add nuance
Like most of the problems people have with LLMs are the natural conclusion of decades of tech companies gaining monopolies, environmental regulations struggling to keep up with new technologies, and a growing semi-privatized surveillance state, as opposed to issues with LLMs themselves. There's a theoretical reality where LLMs are implemented in useful, responsible, and sustainable ways but that reality is so far removed from our current one that none of those points actually matters

You don’t have to think you’re hot but other people inevitably are going to so you at least need learn to accept that perception with grace instead of falling back on self deprecation every time someone is brave enough to call you cute
if I see one more "why age verification is bad" post that doesn't even bother to mention that locking young people out of huge sections of the public sphere - literally the stated goal and primary impact of this shit - is wrong in and of itself I will simply start hitting people with bricks
yes yes biometric data privacy blah blah adults can hypothetically by harmed by this too. what about the immediate and deliberate and not at all hypothetical harm to youth. why are you acting like a potential data leak about what your face looks like, which if it ever happened would at least be generally recognised as a problem, is a more serious issue than cutting millions of people off from information and community and public expression which is happening right now in the open with large scale support
it's got the stench of fucking "banned books week" on it. thousands of adults congratulating themselves for reading books literally no one is trying to stop them from reading while doing nothing to improve access for the young people who are the ones actually having those books made off-limits to them.
