You are presented with two choices: evolve or repeat
seeing the general public and social media exploding with pro NASA stuff and hype over artemis has me far more emotional than i can put into words. our field has been struggling and nearly killed without much fanfare so much since these current policies began. our phd programs are shuttering their doors, reus and internships are fully shutting down since the 2025 budget cuts for the first time in over 20 years, and we have four times as many employees losing their jobs in astrophysics for every single job opening. the NSF and NASA budget cuts has destroyed more lives that i think anyone realizes, and deeply crippled the scientific workforce in america in a way that will take years to recover from. and for so much time i felt very much like one of only a select few who viewed this all as important along with everything else, and oftentimes i felt very alone in this fight
and suddenly, i see the entire world explode with support for people like me. after years of fighting and struggling, it genuinely brings me so much hope and joy to just see others joyful over my field. thank you so much to all the artists and creators who have posted about NASA and the artemis mission. i wish i had better ways to put this into words, but seeing you all enjoy what ive put my entire life towards gives me back the hope that i thought i had lost.
every time i see someone make a silly post about the astronauts or discover local observatories to watch the splashdown at or draw the moon, YOU are a part of my fields saving grace. this social movement can and will save our science. every tweet every screenshot every joke will genuinely save us.
thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. you are all so important. space science is truly for all
Remember to call your members of Congress and tell them you want to see more American science.
The fun thing about Brandon Sanderson's magic systems is that, like ttrpg players, his characters are constantly trying to exploit the system in novel and insane ways.
What do I have to roll to get around the connection check on these metal minds?
I want to make a bond with the spirit without making any oaths. Just, like, as friends.
What if I fed the magic worms to a different kind of bird?
I'm going to use these deadly, explosive spores to make a gun, which is also deadly and explosive, so it shouldn't be that hard.
I'd like to put even more points into my rock stacking modifier. I want even a crit fail to count as a nat 106.
Also like TTRPG players the characters wildly oscillate between being intelligent and the dumbest motherfuckers ever.
There was a young man from Peru
Whose limericks stopped at line two
There once was a man from Verdun
There once was a man from the sticks Whose limericks stopped at line six. They were fine till line five Then they took quite a dive â But the problem is easy to fix If you just ignore the last line, it doesn't even follow the rhyme scheme oh god I've really lost control of this thing I'm so sorry...
There once was a man
From Cork who got limericks
And haiku confused.
There once was a man from the sticks
Who liked to compose limericks
But he failed at the sport
Because he wrote them too short
@limerickshere
There once was a fellow named Dan, Whose poetry never would scan. When told this was so, He replied, "Yes, I know-- It's because I try to squeeze as many syllables into the last line as I possibly can."
On Tumblr did lasses and lads Their way with fail poetry had. You're having your fun But you're fooling no one - It takes skill to do something this bad.
I hear my mom shrieking downstairs, shouting up to me about âTHE CATS! THE CATS!â
I run downstairs, thinking someone has died or something and see THIS:
I FEEL LIKE I NEED TO PUNCH SOMETHING TO GET OVER THE ADORABLENESS
They look like theyâre about to break out in a musical number
hence:
This post got better since I re-blogged it earlier.
This is everything
@maverikloki
⊠my hand slipped
See this is why I love Tumblr.
When do you get creative engagement like this on other social media sites? You just donât have the space to.
Most people are capable of learning magic, yet magic schools remain incredibly exclusive, denying entry to all but a select few students every year. You never got into any of the schools, yet you still managed to learn some magic on your own, much to the horror of any "proper" mage.

apparently the kids at summer camp are obsessed with playing an irl version of Among Us and today i helped scheme with the other interns and counselors to come up with a list of âtasksâ for the kids to do, which is really just chores to be done around the farm that we donât want to do. and they love it. the kids love it. thank you, Among Us.
Beautiful Cinnamon Roll Too Good For This World, Too Pure
happy 10th birthday to beautiful cinnamon roll too good for this world, too pure
Random linguistic worldbuilding: A language with six sets of pronouns, which are set by one's current state of existence. There's a separate pronoun for people who are alive, people who are dead, and potential future people who are yet to be born, and the ambiguous ones of "may or may not be alive or aleady dead", "may or may not have even been born yet", and the ultimate general/ambiguous all-covering one that covers all ambiguous states.
The culture has a specific defined term for that tragic span of time when a widow keeps accidentally referring to their spouse with living pronouns. New parents-to-be dropping the happy surprise news of a pregnancy by referring to their future child with the "is yet to be born" pronoun instead of a more ambiguous one and waiting for the "wait what did you just say?" reactions.
Someone jokingly referring to themselves with the dead person pronouns just to highlight how horrible their current hangover is. A notorious aspiring ladies' man who keeps trying to pursue women in their 20s despite of approaching middle age fails to notice the insult when someone asks him when he's planning to get married, and uses the pronoun that implies that his ideal future bride may not even be born yet.
A mother whose young adult child just moved away from home for the first time, who continues to dramatically refer to their child with "may or may not be already dead" until the aforementioned child replies to her on facebook like "ma stop telling people I'm dead" and having her respond with "well how could I possibly know that when you don't even write to us? >:,C"
@witchofanguish it is also used in poetry and plays, ghosts talk like that. Imagine being in a folk story, staying overnight in an abandoned cabin and in the middle of the night there's a knock on the door and a bellowing voice going
LET ME IN.
and from the "me" alone you know that whoever is out there is not one among the living.
OP IS PLAYING 6D CHESS WE GO HOME NOW.
This is brilliant.
Have you guys noticed how much the internet/technology just does not listen to you anymore? I click âdonât show this artistâ on Spotify and I get recommended a music video by them on the front page. I click âskip this updateâ on a pop up every time I open a file organization app and itâs right back there every time. I click unsubscribe on a newsletter and it keeps showing up in my inbox!! I click âdelete my accountâ and the next time I open the website they suggest I âreactivateâ.
One time I was leaving a friend's place and an older lady with basically no English came up to me and communicated that she was very cold and needed a ride. She pointed to tell me where to go.
I got there and her daughter or granddaughter came out and was like omg her phone died we were worried
And then the older lady said something and the younger lady translated.
"She knew she could trust you because you have pink hair"
I thought it was funny at the time. But when I think back on it I think she was basically saying "you had a visible sign of not vibing with the system I was afraid of"

"I know chatgpt is bad but you just don't really have any choice" you literally do. Don't use it. Have some moral backbone.
it's been like 2 years. i havent touched it. never needed to. "you don't really have a choice," are you so swift to forget the recent past? Bitch i still use itunes to download mp3s to so i have them forever and any song i want, then my sister burns them to CDs. When boycotts rolled out my other sister got no thanks to scan what products we shouldn't buy. i still use corded headphones not because "its older" but because it's easier. a fool criticizes those who buy candles 200 years after the invention of the electric light until the power goes out. become ungovernable. you are not immune to propaganda. you've never had Chatgpt forced upon you, the only thing forced upon you is the idea that Chatgpt is forced upon you. why claim you need something today that you didn't need yesterday. little bitch.
