There's something suspicious about the third way to kill an aeon (and also mildly mad the answer was staring at me in the face. I even admitted to myself that's how an Aeon can die but never thought of it as a way of murder).
Is there any Aeon that we know of that died that way? The closest seems Idrila. But we aren't even sure if the Beauty's dead (although the genius archetypes believe she is, Argenti's group does not). Even if the Beauty did fall the Mirror Holders still think Idrila can be put back together.
Pretty much most of the dead Aeons keep getting comebacks. Tazzy might with Luocha and Jingliu, Ena somewhat with Sunday, Akivili with Trailblazer... Long, get here. You are late to the party.
Pathstriders can sense when an Aeon falls. Yet certain Aeons aren't listed as dead based of that (wise desicion). Sample size is too low to check if sensing a fall is equal to Aeons being gone for good.
So how did people find out that Aeons can't switch paths without dying? I'm guilty of never questioning this myself. But now I'm curious where the consensus came from in-universe.
(I really want to read more of the lore books but I need to do some missions before that.)

THE THIRD WAY AN AEON CAN DIE OH IVE BEEN MEANING TO TALK ABOUT THIS
Finally man its been so long. Like yeah its pretty obvious and i basically have already have spoken about something akin to the concept awhile ago (that fucking pocket watch theory haunts my ass…)
More or less, its not so much as turning to a different path, as much as turning against their own path.
Like if the Doctors of Chaos were to actually ‘cure’ Ix, and cause them to find some meaning in existence, Ix would fall, because they’re going against the primum mobile of their whole existence.
That may include turning to a different path, but its basically just the betrayal of their existence is what kills them.
Of the 18 aeons, we have 5 who are considered fallen. 6 if we count Voracity, which we should considering they dont seem too different than Tazzy, just with a different type of cage than amber.
Ena was assimilated. Tazzy & Oroboros are splintered and trapped. Long is MIA. Idrila is missing (in my opinion, them being apart of Xipe alongside Ena makes sense.) but still claimed to be alive. Akivili is one of the few aeons where we have had them claimed as fallen, genuinely dead, and missing - and we have the vague account of someone who witnessed them disappear. (TELL ME YOUR SECRETS ISEE-ASAT PRAMAD GODDAMNIT.)
Of them, the only two who I can see dying in the third way, the betrayal of the self, would be Akivili & Idrila.
Idrila could have seen something they could not have seen as beautiful, thus killing themself. Though seriously, Idrila is a face of Xipe theory is dope. (Also Argenti did pop up on Penacony on his search for them..)
As for Akivili…
Nobody will understand this unless they’ve been hanging around here for a good long while by now lmao.
Okay, so for some context. ‘That fucking pocket watch theory’ is how i refer to a crack theory i made awhile back. It was entirely kickstarted by me crashing out over the fact Trailblazer’s e3 item is their compass-pocket watch, because while the whole trailblaze/compass & finality/clock thing is a thing, i was still struggling with the deeper meaning of that being their e3 when its not that hard to figure it out for others. Like seriously, not their to ticket? Or even a path based change for their weapon? The compass watch thats literally never acknowledged as existing otherwise???
Clearly it still bothers me.
But basically this theory ended up in a rather interesting conclusion.
“Trailblazer is Akivili's descended self who is destined to ascend to become Terminus at the end of their story.”
And the theory haunts me, because i wrote it in august. And i got a fair amount of stuff actually right. Pocket watch theory has evolved into fragment theory, wherein TB isnt Akivili specifically, but basically holds the last remnant of Akivili and the Stellaron is a red herring for it, same with them having to join the Nameless to conceal the path energy; also explaining why all the Aeons see them and go “omg dead twin aint dead”.
Fragment theory works better than pocket watch theory, as evolutions are wont to do.
Anyways, im getting ptsd flashbacks to pocket watch theory, because of the idea of Akivili having died because they reached their journeys end. The end of a journey never meant to end. Turning against their own path.
Akivili did die. Every single Nameless or former Nameless we have met, has described them as either dead or fallen. The same isnt true for say, Long and Idrila. The opinions on their fates are mixed even among their own pathstriders. Akivili is the only aeon where a consensus is reached. They are gone.
They were an Aeon beloved by basically humanity and the other Aeons alike. Even Nanook seems more partial to them despite ‘never having met them’ (cough, they did pre-ascension) and Ix, the literal aeon of nihility, attempts to speak to you when in the SU as Akivili.
By all means, i cant see another Aeon deciding to kill them.
And Trailblaze is arguably one of the broadest paths. Assimilation would be near impossible, and certainly something we know about.
Genuinely, the only feasible option, is them contradicting their own pathstriders.
And considering the combination of the proper confirmation of the third way an Aeon can die, the true ‘world’s end’, and Akivili all got brought up in the same moment? Yeah, thats purposeful.
As for people figuring it out.. honestly i’d say it’s tje obviousness of it for the most part. I mean. If an Aeon is more concept than not, of course turning against that concept would kill them, right?
Honestly, i think i just need to grab Asat Pramad and shake the Trailblaze lore outta the man. I have questions and he has answers.
