WHAT IS THE CHARGE? BOINKING AN OOMF? A LONGTIME, SHORT-DISTANCE OOMF?
It's hard being a dog lover when a substantial portion of other "dog lovers" have complete disdain for peoples outside the imperial sphere if their culture doesn't worship dogs.
Like yeah nobody likes undue suffering in animals but think about it this way, those free roaming third world dogs may not be pampered by humans but they actually have much more opportunities to freely express all their natural behaviours and dogness than our typical suburban pets. Unless chained they aren't physically constrained or psychologically deprived. they have much more freedom of choice in their everyday lives that us in the wast have to go out of our way to simulate for our dogs in forms of enrichment. They freely reproduce with minimal human intervention, which generally means less inbred populations and overall structurally sturdy bodies free from exaggerated traits, certainly no extreme brachycephaly or skin folds. I don't know. I'm not saying it's ideal, but I see how many of us keep dogs in the west, especially the words and actions of the institutions who proclaim stewardship over the good breeding of dogs, and can we truly say that our dog culture is the one and only gold standard others should strive for?
horses are like a type of bug if you think about it

There is something about choice
And the lack of choice
Being a part of something
And being blocked away from it
There is something about an experience you’re asked to partake in
And cannot broach
There is
Something

genuinely the doctor used to be vegetarian & went back to eating meat at some point during the time war. the more you know!!
more specifically the Doctor was a meat eater and then had a run in w a group of aliens who wanted to eat humans and was so freaked out he stopped eating meat and then being vegetarian was continuously part of their characterisation (mostly in the EU) up until the ninth Doctor era bcos Russell T Davies consciously decided to walk it back
my personal feeling on this on a characterisation level is that there is a logic to the Doctor going vegetarian and then at some point during or post Time War going 'fuck it' and resuming eating meat. & i do also think the Doctor being a hypocrite w inconsistent morals is simply a part of their character.
which isn't to say i don't think they should make the Doctor vegetarian or vegan again, its just that while i was reminding myself what the canon situation is i found some people saying its out of character behaviour for the Doctor to eat meat and im like i see what you mean but unfortunately i think the Doctor just sucks
some eda lore for you, if you happen to subscribe to it…..
the eighth doctor was indeed a vegetarian until sometime after sam left the TARDIS (presumably) — we have this excerpt from the novel the city of the dead by lloyd rose
(for context this is after the doctor gets amnesia (again) and spends 100 years on earth before meeting back up with fitz. hence his behaviors.)
im just always feeling like im in a fish tank looking onto all of the people i know who can be friends with each other but i can just look on becauseim stuck in here but every so often someone drops some fish food for me and i go fuck yessss my food
per my last desperate howl at the heavens,
Dogs serve as a kind of virtue eater for Americans to pour all of their kindness into without the risk of improving society or being nice to someone with any agency
(In a Werner Herzog voice) The perpetual references to Lassie in popular culture, an archetypal savior of the family and its children, positions the dog as an enforcer of the status quo. Beneath those watery irises is an endeavor to sequester the latent kindnesses of society into a furry, lovable vessel rather than allow individuals to direct it towards each other. Lassie is an evil, borne from our innate cowardice towards the prospect interacting with one's fellow man. Perhaps it is easier for the American to die than to reach out a hand in fellowship. Under the prevalence of canines, cruelty is a preferential morality.

Is it socially acceptable to use opaque watercolors, or is that considered gouache?
