the internet has made people feel like their personal opinion on every topic is valuable and important and holds equal weight to everyone else’s but the truth is some spaces aren’t for you and some things you just can’t relate to or understand and that’s okay. learn when to stay quiet instead of inserting yourself into conversations that are actually nothing to do with you
not to be a downer but when people post those "omg humans haven't changed lol" memes about like ancient roman graffiti that says 'i fucked your mom', it makes me sad because like misogyny also hasn't changed. misogynistic memes are shockingly similar across societies
if humans 'don't change' and we're 'the same', is misogyny part of that baggage? will our descendants 1000 years in the future keep making 'i fucked your mom' jokes?
that some cultures are less misogynistic than others gives me hope (e.g. women in some native american cultures have relatively few children and relatively late implies they had the option to choose when to have kids) but i don't want to settle for comparatively less misogyny. there should be NONE
i hope humans can change, and if they can't, then i hope our conditions change and our culture changes. and if that doesn't work, fucking gene edit the misogyny out of us idk man
This, honestly. Studying ancient Greece & Rome has really hammered home how little has changed re: misogyny. Men still have very similar attitudes towards women and girls, it's so depressing
it's actually creepy how similar misogyny can be across cultures. like much of chinese and japanese history has very similar misogynistic tropes to ancient rome/greece of "women shouldn't speak", "women should be virgins", "women should have delicate pale skin", "women are too delicate to do any serious work", "women are not intellectually capable enough to do art", "women should be decorative objects that stay at home and do domestic work"...
it seems to have something to do with the structure of the society (bureaucratized agriculture empire?) because misogyny in many native american cultures lacks many of those tropes. like "women shouldn't speak" isn't a thing in haudenosaunee culture as far as I can tell. misogyny in many northeastern american cultures seems more based on menstrual stigma and "separate but equal" (women allowed to have power and hold positions of power, but the highest honor is not accessible to women)
unfortunately highly misogynistic societies seem capable and interested in conquering other societies and spreading both their structure and their misogyny to other people, spreading new-to-them misogynistic memes and slowly erasing evidence that there were ever serious alternatives to bureacratized empires with patriliny
when straight guys start arguing like "I have a fiance and she's HAPPY being a STRAIGHT, FEMININE woman, not like these feminists!!!" I'm just picturing like...the lonliest saddest woman on earth and she has to live in a shoe with this ogre cooking gruel for him on the stove and he genuinely thinks she's happy
I just remembered I saw some shit pro-life comic on my timeline the other day of “dads are victims of abortion too 🥺🥺🥺🥺” and I shit you not it was a couple of frames of the sperm doner playing games with a ghost toddler, and a woman in the background saying “you have to let him go”. Like I’m shocked at the idea of the entire thing, the fuck you mean a GHOST TODDLER.
Like it’s so funny aside from the fact that males are NOT “victims” of abortions for any reason let alone because of some hypothetical toddler. But the comic panels was just him playing games with this kid. It’s like. That’s all that having a kid means to these men. And they’re applauded for being “the cool parent” because they don’t do shit aside from mess around and have fun whilst the mother has to do all the messy work. It’s propaganda.
Having a kid builds a community and a sense of belonging for men. But the mother who went through pregnancy, birth, long hours and no sleep, constant stress, recovery, running the household in the background is never given a second thought. Esp in these right wing fundamentalist groups.
Women bear the burden but males reap the rewards.
Anyway bit of a tangent from my original intent for this post, but it’s so god damn funny they’re all of a sudden victims. They barely get a participation trophy. Boo fucking hoo womp womp.
Of course he used AI to ‘make’ this. There’s a darkly poetic irony about a man who can’t create stuff with his own hands claiming it’s possible to mourn a human you didn’t create. An AI comic is just like playing with a child - you reap the rewards of everyone else’s effort and claim that it’s you who has the greater emotional claim to it.

I wish more womyn would adopt the attitude that they can learn and do anything if they put their minds to it. No man would say he's fundamentally incapable of learning vehicle maintenance, carpentry, wood working, mechanics, handyman stuff, learning to use tools, etc etc. He just assumes he can learn how to do whatever strikes his fancy. Well so can we.
Male Hysteria is a condition where a prolonged lack of prostate stimulation causes the patient to behave eratic and promiscuous, often to the detriment of his own life and the lives of others. Unfortunately it has never been diagnosed even once because nobody cares about mens mental health
Interesting how people have found it so much easier to accept cutting off perfectly healthy, and specifically female, body parts (no matter the world said art/character is set in) than they can accept the female body existing naturally and in a non sexualised way
something very strange is happening with women in media, and it’s all women and all media… women have not been this feminised and sexualised for at least a decade i swear to god we’re seeing something very sinister and very coordinated happening with female representation
