I’ve watched the musical and listened to the soundtrack a million times now. I’m strong enough to admit when I’m wrong.
Mendel has flaws. And some pretty considerable ones. But so does every character in that show. And that’s the point. They’re human.
Mendel actually has some really great qualities that shine through in certain scenes/songs. Hell, “everyone hates his parents” is one big green flag song in my opinion.
It’s ok to learn from naivety. It’s ok to admit that you didn’t previously have a proper understanding of whatever it is you were wrong about. Growth is real people!
No bad characters in Falsettos, just characters that are human, and I love them all.
