Joined the Mystic Messenger fandom in 2026, don't regret a thing 🤩

I stumbled upon this game completely by accident and installed it after reading some positive reviews. Well, it’s true - the game does have a mysterious allure, despite the heroine being tied to a stick some flaws eheh :)

I actually wanted to say a lot, but I think I'll just limit myself to a brief review of the first two stories (I'm still playing through Another Story soooo)

First, beware of spoilers!!

Second, here is Zen

I'll share my thoughts on the characters' routes as I finish them. So far, all of mine have had happy endings and I've only played each one once, so my opinion might be a little biased… But that's what an opinion is for :)

🔅 My first root was Jaehee Kang. I didn’t choose the character on purpose; I just answered however my heart told me to - I like doing that on my first playthroughs. At some point, Jaehee really resonated with me because of how stressed out she was at work and her identity crisis, so I just rooted for her and supported her. It’s a really sweet, nice route. I was actually hoping to pair her up with Zen :) That would’ve been cute! It’s a kind and pleasant route that warmed my heart, but it isn’t particularly memorable.

🔅 The second route was with Yoosung Kim. I was actually aiming for Zen, but the yellow-blond guy somehow slipped through. All in all, I consider Yoosung one of the most interesting characters in the game. He starts out as a meowmeow crying kitty, but really comes into his own by the end. Yoosung has the brightest, most passionate, and strongest heart of all characters - try to convince me otherwise!

Plus, in my opinion, the relationship with him is the most normal one. That’s because the MC doesn’t end up in some kind of supporting role - in the end they look like a harmonious, equal pair. They’re such a cute young couple, and Yoosung is such a sweet, confident little trickster. I love him.

❤️Zen. Even though I said that about Yoosung, Zen… stole my heart. He’s complex - and at the same time simple, in the best sense of the word. He’s honest, true to himself and to the people he cares about, and he has a clear sense of right and wrong. I absolutely love his positive determination. He feels very whole, despite the conflict in the plot. And his conviction that people need to be helped—no matter how he feels about them - is his best trait. Anyway, I spent another day rewatching and re-listening to the content from the root, and I’m just UwU

At the same time, I really like that there’s nothing contrived about him, even though he’s an actor. He loves to act, but in real life, he’s honest and open. God, I miss him. Must replay...

🔅 Jumin Han has a very sexy-energy route… with a MC whose energy is about as lively as a sheet hanging on a clothesline. Overall, in this route, her role of "listening and supporting" is taken to the absolute extreme - but of course through her constant "I believe in you, Jumin" the heroine transforms this corporate stick-in-the-mud into a sane person anyway.

The MC’s behavior in this storyline was as far removed from my own as possible, so I didn’t really enjoy it. But Jumin is written beautifully, and a huge credit goes to the voice actor here. He’s simply wonderful! You can actually hear his personality shift from the Unflappable Jumin to the Obsessed Jumin and on to the Human Jumin. Interacting with the obsessed Jumin is, of course, a special treat *wipes drool*

🔅 707, aka Seven, aka Luciel, aka… You'll find out for yourselves. Yeah, it's best to play through his route last - and it's a good thing that's how it turned out for me. I’d say Luciel is the main character of the entire game’s storyline. In his route, all the pieces of the story come together, and the MC goes on incredible adventures though, as always, she doesn’t really do or decide much.

After Zen’s route, his is probably my favorite. I like how the character is written, even though he is a bit Mary Sue - a hacker, a secret agent "in the field" and a robotics engineer - a jack-of-all-trades. I like his personality because I relate to his "acquired duplicity". You know, that kind of person who’s a cute little kitten online, but IRL has ADHD, PTSD, and a stomach ulcer that keeps his mood at rock bottom all the time.

At the same time, 707’s a good guy; he just happened to meet some not-so-normal people back in the day and took on the weight of the world. Marry me, you red-haired hunk.

And I love that, in the end… a happy ending awaits him. And the person he loves most (not the MC) gets one, too. Thanks to the developers - otherwise, they might have just feed me a bunch of broken glass. It’s vitally important to me to be able to get a happy ending for everyone. Except for V. But he tried so hard to kill himself in every route that it would’ve been a sin not to let him do it in the last one…

Right now I'm playing through V and Ray's routes in Another Story, so I won't say anything about them yet, except that Another Story is, in general, very different from the previous two Storys- in terms of atmosphere, chat scenes, and character personalities. It's really best to approach it right away as a kind of alternate reality, so you don't end up disappointed after getting used to certain patterns of behavior from the characters.
