There's no time to explain we have to sync our menstrual cycles.... quickly!
I can't believe I made this with my own two hands.
seeing a funny post with under 100 notes and choosing not to reblog only to see it again a few days later with thousands of notes feels bad. feels like I didn't invest in the right shitpost stocks
We had to write a Mini Comic for my Illustration Class so I did mine based on The Frog and The Scorpion. Hopefully you all know the story!
But if you don’t know the story… In the original the scorpion stings the frog in the middle of the river. When the frog asks “why” the scorpion says “it’s in my nature” and they both die. I like my ending more.
Done with watercolor and pen and ink nib.
I always thought this story was fucked up, even when I heard it as a very young child. I even got put in the naughty corner, and a star next to my name crossed off for questioning it.
This story is so much better, and I like it’s message much more.
I am sad and numb. No amount of escapism works so at the end of every high I begin searching for more. I have no reason to feel this way. I have everything I could dream of but I am in constant despair. Toxic positivity will say I am simply not trying hard enough. Toxic negativity says it will never get better no matter how hard I try. Toxic apathy says there's no point even trying anymore.
I have been on a low since the September full moon and I know that's a weird measurement of time nowadays. But on the night of a full moon I promised myself I would bring in positivity and joy to my life. Instead it has been nothing but pain and fear. I feel guilty for this. I failed my goal. I want to feel happy with out escaping with sex or drugs or alcohol.
Dedicated to my bodymate
UNMUTE THIS 💀💀
I’m actually fucking dead. I just… I can’t stop watching this. That fucking triple take at the end gets me every time
Never seen so much emotion from a toy shark.
Objects as spaceships, by Eric Geusz
My favorite is the fidget spinner space station. It almost feels like someone designed it first and then fidget spinners came out and now everyone laughs at it… instead of the other way around.
It’s Eric! He was one of my best friends in highschool!
He also does series of space cats, and one of the ones floating upside down and looking at you is based on my cat Ginger :D
The kitty herself, Ginger!
He’s a super cool dude and seeing his art on tumblr is nuts!
Check out his website, which includes an area to buy prints
You can see more of his work in general on Instagram
And buy T-Shirts too!
God yeah I will hype him every chance I get lol!
Are you ready?
Today is the only day you could share this. Make it count.
Reblog for the Great Mute Apocalypse!
The fact that nobody is talking about Secret’s new commercials pisses me off
This makes me so happy ☺️
Yesssss😭 I damn near cried
I LOVE THIS OMFG
YOOOOOOOOOOO THATS AMAZING!!!!!
Can someone help me understand I wanna cry to ..I feel something went over my head
The woman in the bathroom is trans and is scared that if she comes out of the stall the women that walked in will insult or harass her. but when she comes out they compliment her on her dress instead. The add ends with saying “stress tested for women.” It means Secret is including trans women in their definition of women.
I have reblogged this three times now, each one mentioning the fact that Secret not only included a trans woman, but that they /had the other women compliment her dress and treat her with respect/. I will reblog this every time I see it because it’s so important. More companies should involve trans people in their marketing - we do exist. Props to Secret for getting in on this movement. It makes me really happy to see more of the trans community represented in daily television.
Reblog the shit out of this
Sometimes good posts are made by annoying people so I’ll help out
These are Safe Shorts. They were made by Sandra Seilz after someone attempted to rape her. If the fabric is torn, an alarm will be sounded.
This is the Rape-aXe, invented by a South African doctor by the name of Sonnet Ehlers. After interviewing a rape victim who wished she had teeth down there, she made this. If someone’s penis is inserted and pulled back out, the teeth will sink in, and can only be removed by a doctor.
The Killer Tampon (couldn’t find a site for it), made by retired anaesthetist Jaap Haumann. When penetration takes place, the sharp end will slice the offending appendage.
The Anti-Rape Belt (also couldn’t find a site), made by a group of Swedish teenagers led by Nadja Björk. It requires two hands to undo.
Anti-Rape Underwear/Bra (once again), as made by a group of Indian students. Will deliver an electric shock when met with unwanted advances, as well as sounding an alarm.
Undercover Colours. Made by 4 male undergraduates at North Carolina U, they change colours when in contact with chemicals or drugs that cause unconsciousness. Used in case you’re wary that your drink has been roofied.
These are just tools to help, but in addition to being mindful of your situations and staying safe, they can help when the worst happens.
Stay safe.
ok, those are all kind of awesome. i wish they weren’t needed, bit still…awesome solutions.
I feel more comfortable reblogging this version
RapeAxe has a gofund me up that barely has 700 dollars. I feel like the inventions that havent even been funded yet should be linked to the page you can support them at.

wish this wasn’t necessay, but this could save someone. please reblog!
I know it's selfish but I am so sick of being scared and sad. I know everyone else is too.

I’m gonna take a moment to talk about the greenhouse link above. Greenhouses can be quite a bit of work, time, and money to build - and they take up space - so some thoughtful planning and research can ensure that whatever you build you’ll get the most out of.
Most people, when first approaching greenhouses, just build a generic shed that has clear walls and a roof. That’s what you see in the blog post above, while the author kept mentioning how incredibly hot it is. The author is located in central Washington state, USA.
Greenhouse with no ventilation/cooling or heating or electricity or gas, in a hot climate summer climate, cool winter. While conventionally attractive, it is not particularly functional, and is only useful for a relatively short period of the year.
How best to design a greenhouse can depend on factors like climate and latitude.
If your greenhouse is located someplace very cold, you’re looking at issues with heating it, or else not using it at all during that time. There’s multiple ways to heat greenhouses, traditionally methane or propane gas, although in emergencies, and if it is wired for electricity, electrical heat may be used. Some people have even used wood furnaces (this is less than ideal) For any place with long winters this quickly becomes very expensive. Thermal mass is the clever trick to solve most, if not all, (depending on climate) heating issues in winter - no fossil fuels or deforestation required.
If your greenhouse is located someplace very hot, you’re looking at issues with cooling it, or else not using it all during that time. There’s multiple ways to cool greenhouses - fans/vents and shade cloth being the most common. Thermal mass can also help with this issue too.
My favorite website on greenhouses (which longtime readers may recognize) is Penn and Cord. Heating and cooling greenhouses so you can use them for more than 6 weeks a year can be very expensive and very energy intensive - unless you start looking at passive solar greenhouse designs, such as those by Penn and Cord. You do sacrifice some space in the back greenhouse for the thermal mass aka giant barrels of water.
Can be built out of used or scrap material.
Above, barrels are on the left, hidden behind the plants. Below, this is what the wall of barrels looks like before plant beds are installed.
These 55 gallon drums filled with water and painted black, all along the north wall, are the “battery” that keeps these greenhouses usable year round. The roof angles are designed so that these receive direct sunlight (hence why they are painted black) in the winter, the sun heats the water, and they help keep the greenhouse warm all winter long. They’re working at high elevations in Colorado which means 1) wild temperature fluctuations 2) it’s pretty cold in winter there, down to -30F/-34C. The barrels also modulate the hot temperatures in summer. There are variations around this idea, but hopefully the concept makes sense. Sometimes people will create the northern wall out of concrete, and then put the barrels or bottles of water in front of it, for a similar “battery” or modulating effect. The interiors are painted bright white, to reflect as much light as possible to the plants.
Granted, this extremely energy efficient and far more sustainable greenhouse style does not have the same “aesthetic”, but the space is actually far more usable. Penn and Cord and their crew are growing 365 days of the year, in greenhouses mostly made out of used materials. None of these greenhouses obviously have electricity or gas installed, but they don’t actually need it either, thanks to their clever and regionally-appropriate design.
Okay I am 100% behind people building up their ability to survive and growing their skill set. 2 things though.
1. Modern subsistence movements need to be aware of and careful about not creating laws which may inhibit the subsistence practices of the poor. https://www.google.com/amp/s/grist.org/food/are-trendy-homesteaders-clueless-about-class-differences/amp/
Gardening and sewing clothes aren’t just activities for hipsters. They’ve long been practiced by the poor.
2. Homesteading as a term is a means of claiming land with “no owner” by working it and making it yours. Unfortunately, at the time of homesteading laws in the USA the land did have an owner, the indigenous people who were then forced off their land and out of the places they’d likely inhabited for millennia to make room for more homesteaders. Not to mention that despite their new freedoms black people were not given land as easily as their white counterparts.
Consequently, the term “homesteading” has myriads of negative connotations not the least of which is racism. For this reason I propose those choosing to re-embrace this way of living use terms like subsistence farmer, self sufficiency, or slow living.
