Riverdale fans I have a question. That scene in the first season where Betty suggested the movie Rebel Without a Cause, be played at the drive in, she shares a meaningful look with Jughead. And my question is that was she, in her head, comparing him to Jim or was she just calling him a rebel(or outcast, doesn't really fit in heh...) in general? Because those are the only two reasons I could think of. I need more opinions for analysis purposes. I personally have an interpretation but I just wanna know what the consensus is.

Oh that's kinda funny because, it means that she doesn't get him AT ALL. Jughead is the most Plato character since Plato (though I would be open to idea of him being somewhat similar to Judy) . Like, she only keeps him around cause kissing him helps solve her cases. Oh Betty Cooper I love you and your warped sense of righteousness, truly you are your mother's daughter. Scott and Warren are so interesting. Like imagine your 16 and there's this other guy here who's your equal and opposite in every single way imaginable. He comes from nothing, and you everything. he has nothing, and you everything. You're the handsome, charismatic one bound to get the girl, but he's the underdog that always wins. You've both spent your time away from everything you've ever known, saving and being saved, but there's still blood under his fingernails, and you're costume is dry-cleaned, hanging in the closet.

imagine knowing that flying gave you your life and took his away, and yet it's everything either of you have ever wanted to do.

imagine knowing he's everything you are but turned inside out, how all you can see when you look at him is you in another life. You're the same protagonist in two different genres, and maybe that wasn't supposed to happen, but it did. and you love him. you love him because he's your brother.

Still insane about the fact that Jughead doesn't interact with the story until Archie finds him. Jughead the narrator only becomes a character participating in the narrative when Archie talks to him. And the way he shows up?

He juxtaposes himself with Betty. Betty. The love interest Betty. Positions himself as the other woman, the other option, usually where Veronica would be. Now we know that narrator Jughead does this as irony almost sarcastically. However in retrospect, he is the secret third option: the way to escape the narrative. The only one Archie actively imagines a future with.

Anyway I'm completely normal about this. No worries. I'm fine. FINE.

I always love AUs where Oliver, Bruce and Lex all attend the same boarding school and were in the same class and he's like the third wheel. And Lex fucking hates them because Ollie and Brucie as they insist every reporter and socialite refer to them as, paint themselves as reckless, partyboys with air and champagne bubbles between their ears who throw good money after bad when Lex knows, he fucking knows, they're actual geniuses. The clueless Tweets? The revealing clothes? The highprofile love affairs? The cringe worthy fuck ups that people would totally roast him for but noooooo the world loves those two for? It's all an act. Those business deals that cut LexCorp off at the markets aren't flukes. The way Superman just happens to know about secret dealings isn't coincidence. The way they act when nobody is watching. He's heard them discuss world issues, he's seen Bruce reading philosophy and discussing Theoretical Physics with professors, Oliver can quote Goethe and speaks three languages. Lex can't prove it. But he knows. He has to attend gala after gala, function after function, charity auction after charity auction, watching Oliver try sleep with half the room while Bruce wanders about the room looking for one of his nine thousand kids, knowing that it's an act. But he's got zero evidence and all he can do is pull out the remaining hair he has watching Bruce giggle because somebody said duty because he thought he heard doody.
