I don't know exactly where this "women in the past were miserable victims always" thing comes from (maybe it's an attempt to be anti-tradwives?), but it makes me think of the anti-drug campaigns of my youth: "If you try marijuana ONCE you will GO INSANE AND DIE!!!" It only took us knowing one kid in high school who was very much not insane or dead after smoking weed to disprove it. When one oversells their argument, they make it very easily disprovable. It's self-defeating. And it probably does more harm than good, because why would I listen anymore about the real dangers? It's like The Boy Who Cried Wolf.

You don't have to try very hard to find women in the past who enjoyed their lives. Women wrote diaries, they can tell you that themselves. We don't need to pretend that the entire past, and every single massively varied society that has ever existed on this planet Earth has contained nothing but miserable, raped, oppressed women. We can argue for women's rights and maintaining women's rights without pushing ideas that are easy to disprove! In fact, it would work better if you argued from a solid foundation of evidence.

All humans deserve to be equal citizens with equal rights and protections shouldn't even need any evidence to be supported. It should not require female suffering to be understood as right and correct. But if it does, there are thousands of real examples to be given that aren't this easily disprovable stupidity.

it sickens me that there are so many men that simply never engage with anything made by women and they don't question it and they aren't questioned about it. they don't listen to music by women or read books written by women or watch movies written and directed by women or stop to look at paintings by women at museums and they're just allowed to go thru life never considering women as artists with no challenge or criticism whatsoever. meanwhile as a woman it's impossible to escape the male artistic point of view

You ever think about how often you hear someone say "there's no such thing as natural talent! Anyone can be taught" and you want to believe that they mean "with the right method and accommodations, anyone can be taught this", but time and time again you learn that they meant "I don't believe in learning disabilities or accommodations, anyone whom I can't teach simply doesn't want to learn."

Anyone who doesn't recognize that both talents and learning disabilities exist and adjust their teaching methods accordingly (while fully respecting the student as a person no matter what combinations of the above they have) is a bad teacher, IMO.

If someone is saying something like this, it sounds like they try to teach everyone with the same cookie-cutter formula and blame their students if it's not effective.
