i hope the people who write fiction podcasts know that they're doing truly life saving work and i mean that genuinely.
seeing characters like me find places where they are loved and celebrated for who they are gave me so much hope when i was in my early teens and queer and neurodivergent at a christian school and had friends who didn't really like me. it gave me something to hold onto. it helped me believe that there was somewhere for me where nobody would think i was annoying, or too much, or broken.
anyways, all this to say that queer storytelling and representation is important.

☎️ Our most ambitious entry yet is finally here. Listen to Graven Chapter 10 “Blood of the Lamb” now.
🪽❄️📼
A horror audio drama.
Chapter 11 (Part 1 of our 2-part season Finale) releases in May.
Teaser #2 for “Blood of the Lamb” - Graven Chapter 10. The phone rings on March 5th… ☎️
"i asked chatgpt" "i asked grok" well i asked the strange man in my car. i picked him up off the side of the road in Arizona and he told me he knew a lot of things, even things about me. even things i don't know about myself. so i asked him and he told me everything i needed to know with his soothing honeyed voice. he told me about a place, a beautiful place where nothing mattered that i would pass by on my trip. he was on his way there and we could go there together.
Graven - Chapter 10 “Blood of the Lamb” releases in March!
Enjoy this short Teaser. 🪽🩸📼
audio drama is freaking weird. they're stories more often than not created out of sheer willpower and creative insanity. the storytelling is rooted almost entirely around the strength of the voice acting, writing, and sound design. the characters usually just look however you want them to. they're almost always unabashedly gay. sometimes cecil baldwin and jonathan sims are there.
For what it's worth you should make audiodrama because you love audiodrama.
You spend enough time in this medium you're bound to encounter a guy with a bizarre sense of impatience for the creative process and frankly, contempt for audiodrama itself. He's making a podcast because he really wants to make a movie, not to secure & prove the IP, but because he doesn't know how to make a movie or sell a script. Or it was supposed to be a book (but he could never get past chapter 5), a comic strip (but he can't draw and won't learn), a ttrpg campaign (but he doesn't want to DM), or a stage play (that he doesn't know how to produce or sell). But audiodrama? Well that's easier than all those other things! He can do that himself! People listen to those things! He'll make that and then he can make the real art later on its foundation!
And listen. Audiodrama is a relatively accessible medium to get into. A whole bunch of us can point to a time listening to Night Vale or Wolf 359 or The Bright Sessions when we said "Hang on, I can do this too" and then got inspired to make our own podcast. But this guy isn't inspired. He's vaguely aware the medium exists and wants to use it as a stepping stone to a medium he considers legitimate and man. When you make an audiodrama that is supposed to be a movie. You wind up with a weirdly stripped down movie that doesn't cater to any of audio's strengths.
Make audiodrama because you love audiodrama. Not because you think it's easier than the thing you actually want to make. I promise your art will be better for it.
thinking about podcasts again... augh I love audio dramas, fiction podcasts or whatever. I've met so many cool people and communities through them and just augh I love everyone ive been able to meet through them.
