I love love LOVE a platonic relationship between Rocky and Grace where neither of them are normal about each other.

They’re best friends but by both Earth and Eridian standards everyone is like “Oh wow, they’re… close-”

Like little to no cares about privacy around each other because, well, fuck you aren’t getting much of that on a spaceship for multiple years now are you?

Wherever one goes there’s a 50% chance the other will be there too.

Whenever Grace talks to another Eridian he uses some sort of portable instrument to communicate but with Rocky they just speak in two separate languages at each other. It’s like seeing someone speak to someone in only Chinese and the other person only responds back in English.

Would be funny if Eridians aren’t very touchy but Rocky is basically clingy as fuck when it comes to Grace. Always tugging on his pants like a toddler to get his attention and stuff.

Grace just using Rocky in either his ball, enclosure or his xenonite suit as a backrest while he’s grading or doing work or something, Rocky fully absorbed in his own thing. Sitting as close together as physically possible while having zero interaction with each other. Parallel play at it’s best.

These two come in a pair. Do not separate.

All of this and more, fully platonically, people wonder if they’re the world’s first weird inter solar system couple and if they’re in some weird polycule with Adrian but no, they’re just like that.

It’s just Rocky and the human he adopted as a permanent part of his family that he will spend every possible second of the rest of his short life with because he won’t be here forever and he’s not going to waste any of his time for the world.

Also Adrian still loves Rocky and isn’t quite as close to Grace as he is but is also very fond of the weird awkward alien their mate brought home because Grace is Rocky’s family and that makes Grace Adrian’s family too.

Geraskier bodyswap AU but when Jaskier speaks as Geralt his voice is much higher than he thought it would be and he realizes that Geralt has been consciously lowering his voice all these years to sound tougher

Jaskier speaks with Geralt’s voice and immediately realizes that Geralt’s throat and larynx were damaged by the Trials. Geralt had sort of assumed that had happened, but no one really remembered what he sounded like before, and he figured that like the rest of his life, there was nothing to be done about the damage that was done to him. Jaskier, a trained singer, knows immediately that Geralt’s throat isn’t normal.

Jaskier can’t fix the scarring of the Trials, but he can feel that Geralt’s throat hurts all the time. The constant shouting and strikes from battles leave his throat permanently irritated and inflamed, even with Witcher healing.

Jaskier immediately starts a regimen of salt water gargles and oil rinses. He chews licorice root daily, and he starts buying crystallized honey lozenges to suck on.

When Geralt gets his body back, his throat doesn’t hurt. He touches his neck gently, and it’s not sore inside at all. He can swallow without it feeling like his throat is being scraped with a brush.

He can talk without pain for the first time in a century.

He also finds a little bag of honey lozenges tucked in his knapsack.

Sirens. Scales. Bubbling. Things designed to strengthen vocal folds in ways that don’t damage them and are often used in therapy when they have been damaged. These are just things singers do in order to prepare for the kind of physical work we do, and they help when done correctly.

Geralt’s vocal folds and larynx have never been stronger.

Geralt is rather baffled at being inside Jaskier’s body for many reasons, but one is Jaskier’s lung capacity.

Geralt has taken Killer Whale many times. The potion tastes like old fish and salt, and drinking it makes his chest hurt as if it had been stretched larger than it’s supposed to be, but it lets him hold his breath under water much longer than even a Witcher should be able to. It lets him fight monsters that live underwater without drowning.

Breathing with Jaskier’s lungs feels like he’s taken Killer Whale, but all the time. And without pain or that awful stretching feeling. Geralt knows immediately that he could hold a musical note for ages and ages with Jaskier’s voice, and he suddenly understands why Jaskier has spent thousands of hours doing this weird singing warmups he does all the time. He clearly is doing something like Geralt’s sword forms, but with his whole chest.

The first time Geralt bathes in Jaskier’s body, he has a bizarre urge to shove himself underwater and see exactly how long Jaskier can hold his breath for. He suspects it’s considerably longer than Geralt himself can without the aid of a potion.

Geralt manages to restrain himself from testing Jaskier’s lung capacity, but it’s a difficult thing. The idea that Jaskier could not only match him at this, but is maybe even stronger than Geralt in some ways, is…

Well, Geralt’s not sure how it makes him feel. He feels something, certainly, but he’s doesn’t quite have a name for it.

Jaskier probably does, though.

Jaskier’s muscle memory for dropping his diaphragm out of the way while breathing for singing taking over and blowing Geralt’s mind is hilarious.

Jaskier’s muscle memory for speaking also kicked in the whole time. Geralt is amazed at how loud he can be without it hurting. The buzzing it causes in his nose is new too.

After they switch back, they go to find each other, and Geralt is like “teach me how to breath” and Jaskier is like “only if you also let me teach you how to not put scar tissue on your vocal chords!”
