Nora eye roll...
The Red Lotus
Since everyone’s sharing their work, I decided I’ll share the stuff I made for Nickelodeon and Gallery Nucleus’ Legend of Korra Tribute Exhibition on March 7. I was (and I still am) a very big fan of “The Last Airbender” and “Legend of Korra” so I was really excited when Nucleus invited me to be part of the show. A few years back, I made my own version of the “Opening Sequence” of Korra (which will be also be on the show) http://twistedfork.me/Korra-Opening-Sequence
This time around, I made a tetraptych of the members of The Red Lotus: Zaheer, P’Li, Ghazan & Minghua.
Hope y’all like it! :)

"I won’t let you go… Stay with me… Stay with me…"
When I was a kid I used to be really into horror movies for some reason. Yeah sure, they would scare the crap out of me & give me nightmares... but every Halloween (week or so) I'd watch every single horror movie marathon non-stop. Even as an adult I can't watch any of the Leprechaun movies unless its daylight or I'm not gonna sleep alone. LOL. I'm pretty sure that this was why I was so fascinated with special effects make-up (specifically in horror/sci-fi movies) in High School and early in my college "career." I really considered going into this professionally but school was so expensive and this was before what I like to call the "zombie revival," and it seemed like C.G.I. would be taking over that part of film making. I guess it was actually a pretty interesting transition for me to eventually become interested in Production Design, as make-up is usually a sub-art department.
So earlier today, while I was in my screenwriting class, my uncle messages me about this guy who does Special Effects-- Paul Mejias. So I start scrolling down a list of what hes done... This guy has
worked on some of my favorite movies: Jurassic Park, Hook, Terminator 2, Misery, Galaxy Quest, Avatar, The Avengers... to name a few, so i keep scrolling... CONGO?? Key Artist/Puppeteer. THIS MOVIE WAS TERRIFYING WHEN I WAS A CHILD... Don't get me wrong I've recently re-watched this on Netfilx and its really not so bad but, I must have been like 5 or 6 and I was terrified.
I went on to tell my uncle about this crazy fear of gorillas that I had.
And so my goal in life is so create a world so convincing, so incredibly eerie and spine-chilling, characters that look so far from the actors playing them that a child will remember the fear they felt watching my film forever. I know it sounds terrible, but movies are all about making someone FEEL something. I bet if I told Paul Mejias how those revolting gorillas made me FEEL FEAR, so much so that my mom had to dispose of a house hold trinket, he would be satisfied by this. So prepare yourselves, children of tomorrow. I will create the subject or your nightmares.

I've been passionate about TV and Film for about 10 years now. I graduated high school with a vocational certificate in TV Production. I'm currently working towards a Bachelors Degree in Film at SEDT at Miami Dade College. It took me about 7 years and way too much money out of pocket to realize that being a film maker by trade is my dream.
Changing up the pace a bit... In 2012 I became extremely interested in cosplay/costuming, and I made an attempt at San from Princess Mononoke. I honestly had no clue what I was doing so I made a duck-tape Wonder Woman chest piece and accessories (with some help from a friend, because cutting yourself out of duck-tape is no picnic) based on the New 52 design. I wish I had more photos to show for it, I'll have to dig one up later. I got a few compliments on it and i had so much fun making and wearing it.
In early 2013 I was completely smitten by the character design for Vi from League of Legends. I firmly decided that THIS... This would be my first cosplay. And by cosplay, I don't mean costume. I want to embody this character completely. She is everything I want to be-- strong, confident, no-nonsense, punching first, asking questions later. Perfect.
So I went to work, with lots of help from my awesome boyfriend and after about 6 months of work, my Vi was born.
After working on a few costumes here and there I knew that I wanted to do this professionally somehow... but there aren't many successful cosplayers out there so what now?
So I finally started to follow my dreams and take film classes last year and lo and behold-- there is a job like this just for me out there!! SETS PROPS COSTUMES!!! Working with Directors, DPs, Gaffers and Grips to get the perfect look for a movies. Lets go!
This photo set of me in my Bulma cosplay was featured on Geek Girls, check it out! http://geekxgirls.com/article.php?ID=2869
