I need modern witches to understand that Ireland is not the only culture with spirituality.
I see so many people talking about reconnecting with their European Pagan Roots and then immediately jump to Irish practises just because they’re white, even if their family wasn’t from Ireland.
And they won’t even know anything about other cultures' practices.
In Galicia there are the meigas, the Santa Compaña, sacred springs, local deities, and hundreds of years of folklore that still exist. It’s not dead.
Every culture had spiritual traditions before Christianity.
Ancient Europe wasn't divided into modern countries with clear borders. Their cultures and traditions all influenced each other.
But somehow modern witchcraft online acts like spirituality starts and ends with Ireland and a couple neighbouring countries.
And the worst part is a lot of the people talking about “Celtic spirituality" haven't actually learned much Irish tradition either. They heard a few things on TikTok or Tumblr, telephone them a bunch of times, and now everyone treats it like it’s fact.
If you love Irish traditions, that’s amazing. Learn them.
But please stop acting like Ireland is the default religion for every white person, stop pretending it's the only Celtic culture, and stop ignoring the spiritual traditions of everyone else.
