Why? It's a meaningful term that references a specific subset of all political actors.
We can reasonably say that, for example, Napoleon Boneparte and Idi Amin were authoritarians, but that Ghandi and Theodore Polishname were not. If your analysis ONLY considers authoritarianism vs non-authoritarianism, it may miss some nuances, but that doesn't make it an entirely incoherent word.
