Hello! I decided to make this guide because some people genuinely don't know what ageless blogs are and/or don't know that they are one. It just gives a brief explanation on what ageless blogs are and, if you're one, how to make sure you don't get blocked by 18+ content creators (if you're 18+ yourself).
What are ageless blogs?
Ageless blogs are blogs that don’t have their owner’s ages on them. For 18+ content creators, this is important because we need to know your age to ensure that you are — in legal terms — able to view and consume 18+ content.
But my blog has my age at its sidebar!
Not everyone has access to their PCs or laptops all the time. It is encouraged that you make a pinned post with your age in it OR you state your age in your blog’s description. That way, it’ll be easier for mobile users to see your age.
Okay, how do I do that?
FOR MOBILE USERS
On mobile, go to your blog and tap on the art palette icon on the top right. It’s the second icon from the left.
After that, type in your age in the description box. It's the one below your blog's title.
After that, tap 'Save' and you're done!
If you prefer to make a pinned post, all you have to do is make a post with your age in it. Once it's posted, tap the three dots on the right side and then tap 'Pin post'.
Once you're done, there should be a text in green underneath your post indicating that it's a pinned post.
FOR DESKTOP USERS
On your dashboard, click on the user icon on the right side and look for 'Edit appearance'. It should be under 'Tumblrs'.
From there, click on 'Edit appearance' and type in your age and save!
To make a pinned post, it's almost the same as doing it on mobile. After making a post, go to your dash, click on the same user icon, and under your blog in 'Tumblrs', click 'Posts'. You should see the same three dots. Click them and click on 'Pin' and you're done.
Other questions
Can I put '18+'/'adult'/'XX's' (20s, 30s, 40s, etc) instead of my actual age? I do not feel comfortable putting my actual age.
It really depends because some are okay with it, while some would want your actual age. If the blog specifies that they need your actual age, DM them before following them or right after so that you won't get yourself blocked.
If you don't want to put it, that's fine. But just don't interact with 18+ content creators.
What does 'do not interact' mean?
'Do not interact' is often shortened to 'DNI'. It usually applies to minors and ageless blogs to not like, reblog, and reply to any post made or reblogged by 18+ creators. It also means that said blogs should not follow 18+ blogs or attempt to message or communicate with them about 18+ content. TLDR — stay away and do not appear in their notifications in any way.
But how can you be sure the person is of legal age? A person can just easily lie about their age.
That is true. There is no way to know if the person is being truthful about their age. The only thing we can do is give the person the benefit of the doubt and assume that they're telling the truth.
In conclusion...
Just be respectful if someone has rules on their blog. If they ask for your age, give them your age. If they tell you not to interact unless you can confirm you're 18+, then don't. It's not that hard.
