I like this idea of the true form of the playing being like an incomprehensible horror to the characters

If I did end up using a similar idea in one of my aus then maybe the player designs I usually draw could be our equivalent of “a form you are comfortable with” for Kris

I might actually just make this canon to my deltarune au, The cartoon ghost/angel lady that follows Kris around is actually just an avatars designed not to horrify Kris.

The SOUL manifests in a ghostlike form, which can primarily only be seen by Kris, regardless of whether the SOUL is controlling them or not. They can rarely be seen by others, but generally only for a split second. They don't always manifest in this form, however; they usually remain in their SOUL form when not actively speaking to Kris or trying to interact with the environment (which usually doesn't work well)
