he would not fucking say that, but with disability.. he would not fucking be able bodied. sick n tired of characters walking away from multiple life changing injuries without a scratch. let’s get some natural consequences in here.

give that knife/sword fight survivor nerve damage. give the character who was shot in the gut a stoma. give that fire survivor lung damage and an oxygen cannula. give that leg injury survivor a cane. give that starvation survivor gastroparesis. give that spinal injury survivor a manual chair or powerchair.

while we’re at it, give your characters congenital disabilities too, just because. give them intellectual and development disabilities. give them acquired and postviral illnesses. dare to make somebody bedbound. for me.

When Simon finally opens up to Grace about his past, being in prison for 16 years, telling him about Filament Station, about Eden- Grace suddenly stops him.

Because Grace is very good at math.

Simon seems to be in his early 30’s… meaning if he was locked up for 16 years he could have been anywhere from 13-18 at the time of the attack. Grace had been a middle school teacher. He had taught that exact age range, before watching those same kids that he taught grow and go to the high school in the next building over.

The idea of one of his kids being held responsible for 65 deaths and then sentenced to prison is enraging enough. The more he learns about the cult Simon was raised in- it sets off every alarm Grace had ever had as a teacher.

The fact that Simon was a child soldier and Grace was a child educator is not talked about enough.

I need Simon to be ‘forgiven’ by someone who understands that he was just a kid who had been groomed by a cult

Something I do think is really really funny is that Bilbo has turned into a man with 800 faces due to all the different sources to pick from, but because bagginshield is a uniquely Movie thing, Thorin always looks pretty predictable. I love my salt & pepper "decidedly tall for a dwarf" King Under The Mountain and my ambiguously blonde/brunette/redhead hobbit with brown/green/blue eyes that may or may not have a tail

Nori found Ori and something goes down between the two... Once Ori is alone, he suddenly finds a companion in The Lion... and perhaps The Lion's intentions with Ori aren't entirely pure... Chapter Fifteen snippet:

“Is there such a thing as privacy between you and I?” the Lion asks quietly, a brow raising. His gaze flicks up and down, up and down, and, fitting his name, Ori could almost imagine a tail flicking predatorily behind him.

“I’d like to think so,” Ori replies, firmly, cheeks scorched red by embarrassment. 

The Lion just cocks his head, leaning closer, almost nose to nose with Ori, his eyes making twin golden fires. Ori leans back, pushes back against the lip of the tub, but there was no room to be given between the two.

Hey so this is a more serious post than I usually make but I’m hoping to reach a wider community and I know that there are some creators here, but it really makes a difference!!

People adopt behaviors from the media they consume.

Even just a small background moment where a character puts something in a recycling bin, via even just changing one word or the color of the bin depicted can make a difference in people’s behavior and the way they interact with the world.

If you show solar panels in the background, or mention that someone turns the lights off when leaving a room, that can make a meaningful impact on your community’s actions!

It can be so so small that people don’t even notice, but it can make all the difference.

Creators have power to create change, and media, fandom and otherwise, has power to reach people.

The way that the characters we love behave affects our behavior, and we can make the world better through them.

It’s a small way to reclaim power, but it matters in our world.

<3 I’ve never tried something like this before but I’m so serious that it affects the way people see the world. I learned how to deal with panic attacks from fanfiction and when I had my first one, I knew how to come down from it thanks to what I’d read. I owe the fan community so much and I don’t want us to underestimate the power that we have in each other’s lives and worlds. <3 It does so much good and I have personally experienced that!!
