The thing that I have never been able to reconcile with re-enactingāand maybe this is rich coming from a history PhDāis, how much of my life do I want to spend curating the adventures and exploits of someone else?
Donāt I want to have my own?
Maybe try forming a historical larp group? New stories and adventures but in the time periods youāre used to. Like when people build Wild West towns around cowboy action shooting competitions.
I'd like to point out that a socialist doesn't realize student loans are mostly federal.
"your grandchildren will pay it"
No they won't. They are not obligated to pay off loans that were taken out before they were born. They didn't cosign on that.
Some loans can be sent to next of kin IF they decide to take responsibility for it. Medical bill collectors will send bills to next of kin hoping theyāll pay part of it without thinking therefore taking responsibility for it.
what the fuck do you mean anthropic bought books and severed the pages from their spines to train their AI models what the fuck
buy the paper books so that AI can't holy shit they're physically destroying books now i feel like AI is becoming what George Orwell warned us about with the ministry of truth in 1984 i cant fucking take this anymore.
This is the actual literal plot of Fahrenheit 451. Ray Bradbury tried warning us about technology becoming too advanced and books being destroyed because of it. They just decided to use industrial shredders instead of flamethrowers.

Now Iām as much a supporter of adoption as the next guy but I donāt think war zones are an appropriate place to be taking children from.
The new Odyssey adaptation has inevitably gotten people talking about a Muppet version of it, and theyāre frequently suggesting Kermit as Odysseus, Miss Piggy as Penelope.
Iām sorry but thatās thinking way too small, hear me out:
We need to have Miss Piggy as Odysseus, and Kermit as Penelope.
Think about it⦠whoās the more fickle, prideful, warlike one in that relationship? Who is absolutely ready to go ham, at a momentās notice?
It aināt Kermit
Yes but whoās more likely to say āI am nobodyā. It definitely aināt miss piggy.

Anyone know of any fantasy stories/settings where gunpowder weapons are used?
Because apart from Warhammer Fantasy, The Witcher games (they have bombs), and Berserk, I don't know of any.
The powder mage and mistborn I think? Never read either
The second series of Mistborn takes place during the equivalent of the late 1800s.
The Dresden Files takes place during the modern day so the wizard main character has to deal with getting shot at a lot.
Also Dresden once kneecapped a werewolf and that was pretty cool.

>Instructions on salmon filet say to bake thawed at 400 F for 25-30 minutes >wellthatcantberight.jpg >look it up >ultimately the main thing is the internal temp like you'd expect. 140-145 is the FDA recommendation to kill off anything that might be in there. 120-125 is rare or medium-rare equivalent and probably tastes better but I don't fuck around with food borne illnesses for personal reasons >I settle on 135-140 target temp and then I'll let it rest >most people I'm seeing are cooking at 350 degrees >some are doing it as low as 200 F but again I don't feel like going that low >stick it in for 300 F figuring I'll check it after a bit >check at 25 minute mark figuring it'll need more time >147 F internal
One of my chefs taught me that if you pan sear it first at medium high heat and then bake it at 350 for 8 minutes per inch of thickness it comes out perfect. So if itās about an inch and a half thick, pan sear it and bake it for 12 minutes.
If you see the white fat appear on the sides pull it immediately.
Also most frying pans are safe to just chuck into the oven so you donāt need to dirty an extra pan.
Scanlan: What are you doing there?
Grog, digging through a bag of M&Ms: Vax really likes the yellow ones, so Iām separating them out
Scanlan: Thatās actually kind of sweet
Grog: Huh? No, Iām mad at Vax. Iām collecting them so that I can eat them in front of him and not give him any
Scanlan:
Grog:
Scanlan: Youāre a genius. Can I help?
Vax: I donāt even care what color they are I just wanted to waste his time. The other one getting involved was just a bonus.
