So after the wedding when Hiccup & Astrid are heading back to there now shared room, Astrid is already thinking of how she’s gonna this guy but as soon as the door is shut Hiccup’s like ‘hey so do you wanna rule the kingdom? Cause I kinda just wanna study dragons all day and you seemed pretty enthusiastic about being queen at the wedding so do you just wanna take over? Please?”

And Astrid & Hiccup live happily ever after as Astrid rules and crushes any threat that locks eyes on her kingdom and Hiccup is out in the forest somewhere studying dragons :3

So Hiccup makes a lot of genius inventions but for years Berk just dismissed them all because surprise surprise, things go wrong when working with a prototype! So yeah, they didn’t like Hiccup’s inventions and in fact actually let him know they really disliked them. Walk with me on this one, because I’m having thoughts about it now that are jumbled and only half formed; Hiccup who doesn’t realize his inventions are all that genius vs. the dragon hunters, led by Viggo who is a genius in his own right, who realize this random eighteen year old is fucking scary and his inventions could do a lot of damage.

But Hiccup is just like “Oh this? *shrugs* Yeah I just thought it would be helpful to have. No it’s nothing that special, see, I just had to— *cue explanation that’s hard to follow because Hiccup really honestly doesn’t realize how genius it is*”

And no one on Berk really tells him they’re genius at first because they didn’t pay that much attention and then because they’re just used to it. Like to them that’s not genius that’s just Hiccup being Hiccup.

Hiccstrid headcanon! (How clingy are they with eachother?)

Astrid always has her hands on Hiccup. I think Astrid would seek reassurance in the form of physical touch, this is something Hiccup wouldn’t know about her until their relationship started.

She’s used to being the “tough one” people do not think of her as an affectionate person. And she wants to maintain that image, so she doesn’t bother with correcting them.

But this means she’s really touch starved going into this relationship, and the moment Hiccup confirms “Yes, Astrid, you can touch me whenever you want.” She can’t stop herself. At first she just sorta hangs out near him, practically on his heels. Then her hands are brushing his, intertwining with his. Then, after the others find out about their relationship, she stops holding back.

She starts holding onto his upper arms whenever he happens to be in reach, she wraps her arms around his waist whenever she comes up behind him, she holds onto his shirt and drags him around with her. Hiccup is her emotional support stress ball.

How does Hiccup feel about this? He’s not AS clingy, but he has his moments, and I don’t think I have to tell you guys how touch starved he also is.

So he might groan playfully or halfheartedly try to pull away sometimes, but in reality he’s exactly where he wants to be.

Astrid will catch him leaning into her arm a little when he thinks no one is paying attention. In private he loves hands in his hair (why do you think he has those braids?) scalp scratches are his favorite. Hiccup often, coming home after a long day will just hang his head in front of Astrid so she can reach up and give him a little massage.

Genius Hiccup who doesn’t realize his inventions are works of genius until he’s captured by the hunters and interrogated or something, and they’re asking questions like “how did you make [x]?” and “how can we make [x] of our own?” Or perhaps even he’s been captured by them because they want to force him to make them one of his crazy genius weapons.

And Hiccup just. Blanks. Because ‘wait back up you think my inventions are smart?’
