Hey everyone! I'm hanxiety-hotline :D
You can call me pretty much anything. Han, Jisung, Peter, J.One (John)—anything works as long as it isn't too mean. Petnames also work, I mean, I call all my friends some romantic thing occasionally. As for pronouns, I'm pretty gender fluid and won't mind what you use to refer to me. My MBTI is INFP (for all stays: that's also Hyunjin's MBTI), and my zodiac thing is libra sun, capricorn moon, and aquarius rising (if i recall correctly). For sexuality: I'm berrisexual (under the bi umbrella) which means I like both guys and girls, but I like girls more (and yes, I love berries). As for relationship status, I'm single as of right now. I did have a girlfriend but she kinda broke up with me like a week ago ): I'm alright though. Maybe I wrote her too many poems. Really, this was an impulsive decision to post. Like a 1AM as of August 10th decision to write something and post it here. Most posts are ideas that I've already written down and later copied into here, but they're all mine. I do take requests!
Rules/things for Requests 👇
1. Don't rush me.
2. If I don't like your request, I might not do it.
3. I'm really lazy, so again, you may not get the actual product until much later.
4. If your request is about a real person (SKZ for example), I don't do smut or pg13 themes, simply because I want to avoid sexualizing idols. I'm okay with curse words, though. If you want one done, just ask me about it, and I'll figure something out. I'm alright with suggestive themes that the reader can pick up on their own, just not full out sexualization.
5. Again about the smut, but even with fictional characters, I'm kinda iffy about it. If your character is of age and mature enough, I'll consider it.
6. I'm perfectly fine doing dark themes that would require a TW. I know what it feels like to want your struggle represented.
7. Feel free to suggest a fanfiction with a specific gender reader. A lot of my fanfictions happen to not specify, and that's actually not on purpose. I only realize at the end that I never actually specified who this was about. If you want it to be x girl or x boy, let me know!
8. I only do requests about fandoms I'm in. SKZ, epic the musical, Cortis, Hamilton, PJO, anime—there's plenty to choose from. So please don't ask me to do one from a fandom I'm not in. If I join a new fandom, I'll update this!
9. I am alright with doing x (pregnant) reader or even characters/members with children, but I do tend to dislike those tropes myself, simply because I have no interest in having a kid. If I do do a request like that, I'll try my best to make it as good as a read for you all.
10. When and if I do get to the point where I have plenty of these done, please make sure your request hasn't been done already.
Also feel free to interact with me and ask me questions, I love talking to people (not in real life, but over the screen, yes)! But yeah, have fun reading my impulsive posts, and I hope you aren't disappointed.
Keigo Takami (Hawks) x (villain! + any gender!) reader oneshot
<the lyrics to the song have "she" in them, but just imagine them as any other gender. Nothing in the actual story specifies>
Category: fluff, slightly suggestive
Warnings: a bit freaky? Not proofread. Use of y/n l/n, bad pacing, rushed
A/n: i love making reader chaotic. Definitely not projecting anything. Not at all...

"No, she's not a player, she's a puppeteer."
~
You were a well-known villain—a crucial member to the league because of your powerful quirk. Telekinesis. Moving things with just your mind was... not ideal for the heroes. Though, it wasn't the league, nor your quirk, that made you well-known. The public kept an eye on you because of your playful nature. Not so much that it would seem chaotic, like Toga, but rather, you treated your victims like you were friends... maybe even more than friends... before killing them cruely. It was a mind game. The public always questioned if you could also control minds with your telekinesis. And though most were wary of you, there were the select few who thirsted over you.
Though, regardless how the public felt, there was only one hero you really ever interacted with.
The number two hero—Hawks. People watched your fights like a drama show. He was always on your tail. You'd flirt with him, and he'd flirt back, all the while you both tried to kill/capture each other. It was almost a game between the two of you, as if it was some cruel type of fun.
People called you psychotic, because unlike Toga, there was no unsettling smile. Just genuine laughter and a pure grin like you weren't trying to take a life. But what's the harm of being called a cruel word... if it was true?
After all, they called you Strings. Because you loved to make people dance, like puppets on a string. All while you smiled sweetly. Because oh, all they're doing is dancing on the edge of the roof... what could go wrong?
Today was like no other, with you and the league casually causing chaos until the pro heroes arrived. All for One needed to get his shit together, so until then, you all caused destruction. Besides, with you guys attacking so often, it'll eventually become difficult to tell whether you're attacking to actually attack, or if it's just a distraction from another big event. Either way, a win for you villains who wanted nothing more than to reek havoc on the system that labeled you and threw you away.
The second you locked eyes with the winged hero, it was on. You took off running, Hawks following closely behind you.
"You won't get away," he called out, a smirk on his lips, as he shot a few feathers that narrowly missed you. He was gaining on you, fast.
"Looks like somebody is fond of me," you teased, sarcastically, still running quickly. He always wondered how you kept your voice so stable while moving like that. You'd make a good k-pop idol. Oh well.
He smirked, "You're too easy to chase, Y/n," he teased. He referred to your real name, trying to catch you off guard so he could swoop in and grab you. He'd heard other villains call you that before, and did some digging to find some more information on you. Instead of faltering, you smirked.
"Aww," you cooed, pretending to swoon at his words, "first name basis, Keigo?" You teased, your voice light and playful as you stressed his first name. You used your power to freeze the feathers zipping close to you, sending them right back at him. It wasn't uncommon for his name to be spread around, but he sure didn't expect a villain to know it, so he was a little caught off guard. Not enough that he didn't easily regain control of his feathers. He tried to hide his faltering by flying faster, which in turn forced you to run faster. You were sure you were gonna run into something if you kept talking to him instead of focusing on what was in front of you. Lampposts, stop signs, and even traffic cones were obstacles in your path. Tripping even once would be the end of your career. Trying to buy yourself some time, you sent a sign flying at him, along with pebbles and anything else you could pick up without thinking.
As Hawks regained his composure, he dodged the sign. The thing about your telekinesis is that you had to focus on him directly for at least a second or two in order to control him—that delay would cost you a lot, especially seeing how many feathers he was sending out. That's why you had to run.
"Yeah, first name basis," he said, trying to sound nonchalant, but he was getting a little pissed at how good you were at dodging his feathers. Not only that, the numerous small objects you were throwing at him were annoying. Big objects he could dodge, but the small ones left annoying scrapes. You should've been out of breath by now, you know, like a normal person? He flew down closer, just above you now. You couldn't focus on him directly unless you looked up, which would be quite dangerous with the many things in your path, so controlling him wasn't an option.
"You should stop running and just surrender already," he suggested, making it seem like he was giving meaningful advice. You chuckled, the sound slightly breathless.
"As much as it'd be just a pleasure to be tied up and arrested by you," you teased, winking with a smirk, "I'm afraid we'll have to continue this another time," you frowned, looking disappointed. Hawks was confused until he saw where—or rather who—you were running to; Kurogiri.
"Oh, no you don't—" he tried to attack you, but the most he got was his feather scraping your leg. A small cut was all he managed before Kurogiri teleported you away.
Hawks eyes widened, almost colliding with the wall of a building, looking up just in time to stop his flight. He landed, cursing under his breath.
"Damn it... always so slippery," he muttered, running a hand through his hair in frustration. You always got away, no matter what. He sighed, heading back to where the other heroes were, ready to tell them the same news as any other time he tried to capture you. He always felt the same every time he missed another chance; irritated because he didn't end the chase... but also a little excited, knowing that he'd see you again, knowing he'd get to try again next time.
He didn't know when the day would come that he would finally succeed—or you would finally kill him, but whenever it happens—he isn't sure he'll even know what to feel. He hated your murderous nature, naturally—and yet, he never got along with anyone else so well. Why did such a horrible person have to be so great?
It was night. He stood at the edge of a roof, crouched down, as he observed the city at night. His wings were neatly folded behind him, eyes scanning the streets.
"Ah, there you are, little birdie..."
He didn't even get a chance to turn around before he felt his body move on it's own into a standing position. You smiled.
"You left a cut on my leg. That wasn't very kind now, was it? I was very hurt," you pouted. He gritted his teeth, struggling against your possession. You only giggled.
"Now... dance for me, birdie."
His body moved to an invisible beat, right on the edge, so close to falling, yet never completely off. You laughed maniacally, "That's it! Move your body!" You cheered, making him swoop and dip, body bending in ways that weren't painful, yet weren't comfortable.
He'd never felt so helpless before. He couldn't see you, as he was facing the city, very aware of how high up he was. He'd never been scared of falling in years—his wings could carry him. But what good were wings to him when you were the one who controlled them—and him—currently?
"Please—Y/n, please, I'm gonna fall," he managed, breathless as you made him move more. He felt so weak, begging. You only smirked, "Aw, but birdie, can't you fly?" You asked innocently. He gritted his teeth, feeling like a bird with clipped wings.
"No more confidence, Keigo? Oh, come on, you're no fun~" you whined, increasing the speed at which you moved him as a result of your annoyance, his movements becoming less and less stable. He gulped. How could he possibly be confident now, with his life on the line?
"Of course I'm confident. I'd just rather die with you as my last beautiful view," he managed with shaky breaths. Your lips curled into a sweet smile.
"Mm, smooth-talker," you mused, allowing him a break as you watched him catch his breath. Your control held him perfectly still. You made him turn around to face you as he took shallow breaths.
"You're... infuriating..." he muttered. You raised an eyebrow, making him take a step back into nothing. He screamed. You laughed heartily.
"That's—that's not funny!" He shouted as you stabled him again. You grinned, "It was pretty funny to me, little puppet," you said with a sweet smile. He hated that name. Puppet. And yet, what else could he even do?
You made him walk closer to you, and he didn't even try to resist, relieved to be away from the edge. He stood in front of you now.
"What do you want from me?" He asked, desperately, internally cursing his heart out for not slowing down yet. "I wanted to see you dance, birdie. So I made you dance," you said sweetly. He shuddered internally as you circled him, feeling like prey under that anything-but-sweet gaze.
"Now..." you stood before him once more, eyes gentle despite everything, "down for me, boy."
His body obeyed before he even processed what it was you were asking. There he kneeled, right in front of you. His mouth formed an 'o', disbelief evident. Did you just... command him like a dog? The entire experience was dehumanizing, and yet—his heart only raced more as he gazed up at you.
Your hand traced his jawline, then felt down to his pulse. You smirked at the irregular rhythm, "Does this excite you, Keigo?" You practically purred. He didn't respond. You frowned, hand closing around his neck, lightly choking. You heard his breathing strain, but you didn't press hard enough to cut it off completely.
"Answer me, Keigo. Does this excite you?" You asked, eyes narrow. You felt him gulp, and then... "Yes," he said weakly. Because he'd be a fool not to admit to it. Your face lit up in a pleased smile, letting go of his neck.
"Good boy," you praised, one hand running through his hair. And oh, that was his weakness. That look in your eyes, the soft touch, the praise—all combined into one lethal combo. For a moment, he questioned if he even wanted to escape your grasp.
You grinned, "You like this that much?"
He was confused until he realized he could move. He should've tried to get up. He really should've—but oh, how could he? How could he get up now knowing that he may never get to experience this again?
"Mm, stand, Keigo," you commanded softly. And this time? He did it on his own. Your pleased smile said it all.
"Kiss me," your voice was a whisper in the wind—and yet it carried in the air for at least five extra seconds for him. His hands found your waist, eyes focused on you like the mindless puppet you made him, even though you weren't using your quirk anymore. His lips connected with yours in an intoxicating kiss that rid him of any sanity he had left.
Lips locking on lips, tongues uniting until all he could think about and feel was you. His hands gripped the fabric of your clothing, aching for more. His eyes had long succumbed to the bliss of closing as he tasted you. And nothing, nothing would ever replace the image in his head of you pulling away—of that string of saliva that connected your lips.
"Fuck..." he breathed, one hand coming up to run through his hair, "what have I done?"
"Relax," you whispered, and he hated how his body obediently listened, even though he was in complete control now. How was he gonna explain to the pro heroes that he now had a situationship with a villain who almost made him dance to his own death, called him a 'good boy', and one he still kissed willingly?
"You think too much, featherbrain," you drawled, one finger tracing his jawline as he shivered slightly. He caught your wrist, "Stop that." He practically begged. The more you touched him, the less he wanted you to stop. Regardless, you complied.
"Well, I have to go now. You were such a good boy today. Find me again, Keigo. You know I'll always wait for you,"
He blinked, praise flooding him with a certain warmth that left him stunned for a moment too long until he processed the rest of it. By the time he tried to reach for you, you had already used your quirk to send his body flying. Not roughly, so he was able to stop mid-air, flapping his wings to stabilize himself and fly back. But when he came back... you were gone.
He stood at the spot where you once were, his knees weak like he wished to kneel again. He almost wished he didn't stop you from touching him. His mind screamed about how disgusting he was, and yet—his body yearned for your touch, his eyes yearned to see you standing above him with that satisfied glint in your eyes, his ears yearned to hear you praise him again with that seductive voice, his tongue wished to tangle with yours again... he yearned for you.
It was difficult, moving on with his day as he woke up, mind filled with images of you. Just one night—one night, you let him have a taste. That was all it took to get him hooked. That was all it took for him to search for your face in every alleyway.
And it's that thought process that brought him to that same building, the very next night. Standing where he kneeled before, waiting.
Soon enough, he saw you climb up to where he was with ease.
"Missed me?" You teased. He chuckled lowly, and you raised an eyebrow. Because there was something new in his eyes. Not frustration, not desperation—
Obsession.
"Oh, darling, you don't even know."
A/n: i know this was kinda rushed (it's kinda 2AM) Sorry about that. But is anyone else thirsting for Y/n and not Keigo? Just me? Okay (ᵕ—ᴗ—)

Not my usual content, I know. I just wanted to take a moment to talk about break ups. I mean, it's obvious to simply say "I hate them," but there's more to it.
I hate falling in love with someone and having them say they love me back, only for them to pretend nothing ever happened. I know I fall too hard and too quickly, but I've always wanted to be in a relationship. I'm like People Watching by Conan Gray personified.
I'll write them poems, make a playlist for them (I only have one playlist usually, which consists of all songs I've ever liked), send them pictures, text them every day even if they never text back, send voice memos of songs even though I'm insecure about my own voice—all for them to end it because they don't want their parents finding out.
I know she was valid to end it that way, I really do. But it just hurts knowing that if I was in her position, I'd choose her over my family. Over everyone. It was hardly even a month of being together, and I know I'm being extra about this. I can't help my feelings.
When she broke up with me, I didn't really sob at all. Just felt... I don't know, numb? Like I expected it. I kinda did. There's always a part of me that feels like I expect this all to be a joke. That I was some kind of bet. That it's gonna end soon. I just hate when that part of me is right. I felt stupid for ever letting any other part of me be delusional and think we might last long. That maybe it'd be us against the world.
We're still friends. I agreed to that. I fought for us, but she wasn't having it. And I guess I've been fine. But really, I just... I dunno, feel kinda hollow inside? I sent her a poem recently (I make poems all the time), and she said it was unnecessary. Yeah, I know, I'm taking words out of context. But these are just the words that choose to stick around, you know?
She asked me if I ate. She always asked me that when we were together cuz I don't have the best eating habits. I texted her "haha, seeing you text that makes me sad". She asked me why it made me sad. And I guess that's what it took to make me realize that we didn't mean as much to her as we did to me.
When she asked me out, she told me that I had turned her bi. That was forever my biggest achievement. But did she really even love me? Or did she just love the idea of someone loving her? Because I fucking did. I did and I told myself that this was it, that I was finally getting something worth keeping. Then it got pulled away.
Worst part was this was right after I was recovering from a somewhat situationship. A best friend that I "married" as a joke. I'm the one who made her who she is today. I got her into skz, only for her to leave me for other stays. She kinda replaced me. I was still hurting when my ex came into my life—and I guess I thought I was finally getting something that would stick.
I have a lot of friends who leave me like that. They always say the same thing; "Oh, you're the only good person in my life." Or some bullshit like that. Sometimes they lie about being abused, sh, or worse. All for my attention. It doesn't make sense to me to lie for attention that I already give freely. Why would you want to lie for sympathy from someone who would love you no matter what?
I swear it happens every year with at least someone close to me who leaves.
Worst part? My ex was a Lee Know bias. I was really excited to meet her. We were happy to complete minsung together. I genuinely thought everything would be okay.
I don't know. I feel like I just needed to type it out to someone who wasn't a friend. Just to let you guys know that other's go through this too.
All I ever want is attention, praise, and someone who actually listens. Why the fuck can't I get that? I thought it was the bare minimum. Everyone who says "oh, I'd never leave you or do something like that (referring to my past occurrences) ends up doing it. Why make excuses rather than admit you're wrong?
The worst part too is with the friend who I liked. She said she didn't know what changed. She's the one who became distant. She said she was left brained and didn't know what I was feeling. I know that isn't true. It can't be true. Because she gives others exactly what I want from her. How can she say that her love language is physical touch—proving it for a year by always cuddling with me and laying her head on my lap—when now it's always me having to initiate any touch at all.
I guess I just fall too quickly. I feel like I'm always taken for granted, too. No one ever replies back to any groupchat I type in—they just ignore whatever I say in favor of whatever they need to say. It's to the point where I use the groupchats as my personal notes app. I'm talkative. I can't help it. But it kinda hurts to hear from my close friend that she heard another friend say something about me texting too much in a groupchat, when the last time I texted was in May.
Not only that, but... I don't know. I just really wanna be appreciated, you know? I really treat others the way I wanna be treated, but they don't even give half back. I'm taking the scraps, really. This one time, my friend sent me a text about a chocolate bar (I mentioned I liked it maybe a year before the text). This entire texting thing was almost a year ago. I still remember it, because it made me so happy. Did I like the chocolate bar anymore? No. But it made me feel so special to just be remembered for once.
I know I talk a lot. Too much, even. But I remember everything that other people say. They never do the same. And of course I laugh it off, but am I really that forgettable?
I know I'm too emotional and I take things too close to heart. I know I feel too much. But I'm also good at communicating that. It makes me feel helpless when they only make excuses. If you stab me with a knife, I want you to take the knife out and bandage the wound, not describe what brand the knife is.
Words have always come easily to me. People call that a gift. It's not a great gift. Not when no one understands the words I say. The analogies. I guess sometimes I speak in riddles. Because it's more than just understanding what I mean, but feeling it, too.
It's hard to give all of me out and recieve nothing but scraps. If I make you a poem, I want you to be touched. If I paint you something, I want you to frame it. If for our "fake" anniversary, I write on six pages, both sides, full of love things, songs we like, and references—all written on your birthday, months prior to the fake anniversary of our fake wedding, then I want you to say something more than just "oh, thanks." If I make you two pipe cleaner flowers for that same anniversary—one rose to represent love and one purple one because you love purple, all without hot glue—i want something more than "Oh, thanks."
Why is that so hard to understand?
I want you to appreciate my effort. That's all it takes to make me happy. Just appreciate me, and I'll give you the world because I love seeing you happy. Why does the honeymoon face ever leave? For me, it never ends. Why do they get used to it? Why can't they just love me the way I love them? Why must I make things for them just to even feel wanted? Why don't they ever text me first?
I wish I knew the answer. I just want a hug from someone who actually wants one too. I hate being in a friendship or relationship that makes me feel like I'm the only one holding it together. I hate caring too much to ghost people. I hate people. I hate myself for being like this.
Warnings: not proofread, !mentions of suicide! (It's a dazai fic, what did you expect?), use of y/n l/n

"Would you be willing to join me in a double suici—"
~
It was a decently cloudy day, most likely doomed to some rain. And it felt like any other, if you weren't reminded of the date immediately after stepping into the Armed Detective Agency.
"Happy Birthday L/n!" The entire agency shouted the moment you entered. You flinched in surprise, almost dropping your coffee. You'd been too lazy to check the date this morning, if only you had a group of people to scream it at you... oh.
You froze for about ten seconds, processing, before finally muttering a quiet 'thank you'. It wasn't that you weren't grateful—you were. It was just seven in the morning, entirely too early for this bullshit. And you almost spilled the coffee that you waited fifteen minutes in line for. You'd warm up in a bit, but for now, your brain just needed to adjust.
Unfortunately for you, there was a man who went by the name of Dazai in this workplace, and with him came chaos. It's like the guy got a kick out of the daily misery he put you all in.
In reality, it wasn't him who was being the noisy one. In fact, he wasn't being loud at all. But he was the reason Kunikida had broken his second pen today. After all, an instigator is almost as bad as the aggressor himself.
Atsushi, the poor sweetheart, was sadly stuck between them, trying to give you a present while the two of them bickered (Kunikida being the only one bickering while Dazai kept his smirk) about who got you the best present.
You ended up just taking a seat and admiring the decorations. They really went all out for you, huh?
Gifts were placed on your desk as you happily said thank you. Ranpo had gotten you snacks (half of which he had already eaten himself), but Tanizaki had gotten you a sweatshirt—merch from one of your favorite book series'. Wearing the sweatshirt, you ate the snacks Ranpo got you (he occasionally walked by and ate more himself until your gift had decreased to only the snacks no one actually liked).
You loved the gifts you received, but you couldn't help but notice that there was a certain member of the agency who didn't get you a present. And it was the last one you would expect.
Dazai.
Dazai Osamu.
You were confused, and maybe a slight bit hurt. Sure, it wasn't like you needed gifts, but you sure did enjoy the sentiment. You would find it believable that he didn't yet you a gift because he was simply too lazy, but that would mean Kunikida would currently be going on and on about how he should have gotten you a gift, and that argument earlier about the better gift wouldn't have happened. No one even seemed to notice.
You found it unusual, because if anyone at all, you would assume someone like him would be in charge of all this to make it as obnoxious as possible. But again, not wanting to seem desperate, you said nothing and kept your thoughts to yourself.
The least he could do was say something stupid like "I didn't get you a present because my presence is a gift in itself."
Sadly, just because it was your birthday didn't mean you got to miss out on work. Though, Fukuzawa did lighten your load, as a small gift from him. You finished said load quicker than usual, wanting to take a self-care day. But of course...
A certain brunette wouldn't allow that.
"Y/n-chan~" Dazai called out just as your hand touched the doorknob to leave, stretching your name in a singsong voice. You didn't know whether to feel annoyed or slightly happy that he didn't forget you.
"Hm?" You hummed in acknowledgement, trying to twist the doorknob and open the door before it was too late—but a warm hand quickly covered your own, while another was placed on your shoulder.
"Where are you going?" He asked, and you could practically hear the pout in his voice, which was almost directly beside your ear. You shuddered at the feeling of his breath on your now-pink ears, not daring to turn around. But knowing him? He probably already noticed.
You didn't get a chance to respond as he spun you around, his grin more of a smirk. He sounded genuine with his question, but anyone who knew him would know that there was a lot more that lay behind his "sweet" smile. And you knew you were in for a lot of teasing.
"Why don't I take you out? I feel bad for not buying you a present~" he teased, grinning. Ah, so he had noticed. However, you only rolled your eyes.
"I'm not coming to the bridge with you, idiot," you deadpanned, shrugging him off of you. He pouted.
"I wasn't—"
"Yes, you were," you cut him off, "don't even bother denying it."
"Okay, okay, fine. But I'll make you say yes to my offers one day," he said, huffing and croasing his arms childishly.
"Are you threatening me?" You asked in a monotone voice as he chuckled. He used his finger to trace your cheek until you pushed him away.
"Never~ Why would I ever do that, Y/n-chan? I'm just a sweet, handsome young man who wants you to commit sui—"
"No." You said, firmly, and he groaned.
"Why does every beautiful lady reject my offers?" He asks, pitifully, one hand on his forehead for dramatics. You couldn't help but snort, "Maybe because, I don't know, they don't wanna die?" You suggested, amused. He only sighed, like you just gave him a death sentence—or rather, a life sentence, since he would be quite pleased with the idea of a death sentence. He met your eyes once more, tugging your hand off of the doorknob, holding it with both hands, before placing his lips to your knuckles. You felt your face heat up slightly.
"Mind if I still take you out, though?" He asked in a smooth voice. You tried to feign disgust, but your heart was beating a mile a minute. You hated how good he was at this.
"Oh uh... sure, that sounds good," you muttered, all plans for a self-care day thrown out the window. You refused to meet his eye as he grinned at you. He then intertwined your fingers, but before you could do something stupid like get flustered about it, he practically dragged you out of the building. You could faintly hear Kunikida over the sound of your own heartbeat, yelling after both of you—mostly Dazai—to come back. Dazai paid him no mind.
"Where are we going?" You asked as you tried to keep pace with him. He gradually slowed down, placing a gentle arm around your shoulder as you walked. You couldn't help but wish he placed it on your waist instead, but you shut the thought down as he responded.
"You'll see," he said with a grin. You hated how good he looked with that grin on. Flustered now, you looked away. You hated everything about him. Hated how unpredictable he was. How he always asked you to commit with him (commit suicide, not commit to a relationship, sadly). You hated how you wished for the latter. You hated how nice his hand had felt in yours when he dragged you earlier.
But your "hate" for him was forgotten as you spotted your favorite bookstore—and suddenly, it was you dragging him forward. His arm had left your shoulder in favor of you grabbing his wrist and trudging along.
"Eh—! Slow down, Y/n-chan! I get it! I get it!"
Had you looked behind you, you would have seen the grin on his face. But you didn't, of course. After all, there was a bookstore in front of you.
"You're buying me whatever I want," you decided for him as you dragged him through the door.
"And if I don't?" He teased, letting you drag him through the store without an ounce of resistance. You stopped at once, glaring daggers at him as if saying "repeat that."
"I... Yes, I will ma'am. Whatever you want," he conceded, feigning nervousness when in reality he was amused. You didn't care what he really felt, you just wanted books.
"With what money?" You asked as you searched for a book. Dazai wasn't the richest guy around. He simply shrugged, opening his mouth to respond, but before he could—
"Found it!" You said with a grin. The book in your hands was the newest one in a series you had recently been obsessed with, as it had broken your reading slump. The book had come out a month ago, and it was still on high demand. You'd been gaslightong yourself for the past few weeks, telling yourself; "the price with go down, right?" Unfortunately for you, the price barely had a dent in it compared to before. Fortunately for you, it wasn't you who was gonna spend money on it.
"Oh, this series," Dazai said, taking the first book in the series off of the shelf as he examined the back. He read often, but you didn't expect him to read anything that wasn't a step-by-step how to kill yourself tutorial.
"I've heard of it before," he said, placing the first book back and taking the newest one in the series from your hands.
"Great, now will you buy it or not?" You muttered in a quiet demand. You were trying your hardest to be patient, but you had heard enough of people on the internet fangirling about the male lead that you were practically vibrating in excitement.
"Alright, alright, I will," he chuckled, patting your head—you reluctantly let him, thinking that the more you listened to him and let him do what he wanted, the faster the book would be in your hands.
Dazai didn't flinch at the price, but you knew it was probably because the agency would have to pay for it anyway. He absolutely never did his paperwork, and also never paid at that coffeeshop he always went to. And because the agency needed him, they had to pay his bills so he wouldn't go to jail (though he'd probably escape from there, anyway, unless he was put on a death sentence. Then he'd happily stay).
"Is this all?" He asked, holding the book up as he glanced at you. You only laughed. He raised an eyebrow.
"All? One book? You think this is all?" You smirked, and his smug expression finally faltered slightly. The last words you heard from his mouth were "oh shit" as you took him on a book spree.
Book by book by book. By the time he looked at the one you handed him, you had moved on to the next.
By the end of the hour that the book store was open (he thanked his intuition for making sure to bring you here near closing hours), you had collected fifteen books, and he had collected a new fear; taking y/n shopping.
Using the company card, he paid for each book while you watched him closely like a guard dog, making sure he didn't miss a single one. After you bagged all your books and made him carry them, you were in a chirpy mood. He almost did a double-take when he saw you making jokes with him, when normally, you were threatening to sue him.
As he walked you home, he couldn't help but smile.
"Happy birthday, Y/n-chan," he said, his voice tired but cheerful as ever. Your pleasant grin softened into a grateful smile as you stopped in front of your house.
"Thank you, Osamu," you said with a smile. Before he could react to you calling him by his first name, you kissed his cheek. Leaving him, of all people, stunned for a moment.
You then quickly unlocked your door and closed it behind you, leaving him with his thoughts as you crumpled down to the floor and covered your face in embarrassment just on the other side of the door.
Staring at your closed door for a moment, he was silent. Thoughtful. Then, he smirked slightly, chuckling quietly to himself.
"And I thought I'd be the one to make the first move..." he muttered, hand reaching to touch the cheek you kissed, an unfamiliar feeling in his chest. He was almost puzzled. The calculated, cold man under the annoying facade was... amused by this. He thought of this feeling as another thing to dissect. So for now, he'd let it fester. He stared at your door for a moment... quiet as he gazed, before finally turning away, his hands in his pockets.
Tomorrow, we'll talk. And not about that book.

"Next time, you won't be so lucky!"
~
It was a stressful day for you. As one of the tech people in the Port Mafia, you were in charge of majority of paperwork and gathering information. As well as saving others' asses because they never checked for cameras when doing missions (it was your job to disable them). So in other words; a not so fun job. Though, you did enjoy hacking. Unfortunately for you, the fun of hacking came with the price of double the paperwork.
Today had been an extra boring day. Sitting in front of a computer all day, making sure the others didn't get themselves killed (you watched them through security cameras), as well as absentmindedly filling out a stack of papers that probably required more attention than a casual skim (not that you cared). Besides, if M*ri disagreed with your choices, he could just, well, do it himself.
Naturally, after the long day, you stopped by the bar. You weren't someone who enjoyed alcohol much, but you wanted to at least get tipsy so you could stop thinking about the work you had yet to finish, due by the end of next week. Tomorrow was also a free day, and you wanted to celebrate first before deciding any plans. Nothing too strong—you didn't wanna wake up on your free day hungover.
You opened the door to the bar, the peaceful music flowing into your ears. Seeing as you could hear the music, it was a quieter day. You much preferred days like this, in comparison to the days where this place was packed, filled with couples that did things no one wanted to see.
As you made your way to the counter, eyeing the menu to see if they had any seltzers, you spotted a familiar redhead sitting at the far end of the counter, swirling the contents of his half-empty wine glass with his hand before sipping it.
A grin made your face, your day just got a whole lot better.
You hadn't seen Chuuya, your boyfriend, in far too long. He was mostly on missions while you worked in the computer room. You two used to work together on the same missions—he went out and you guided him through buildings by hacking their software and disabling any cameras or motion detectors that might spot him. Sometimes you even got to go with him. Recently, though, you were put into different segments of the Port Mafia—which meant no more missions together.
Seeing him here wasn't a rare occurrence—he did love his wine—but you being free enough to approach him didn't happen often these days.
Of course, you weren't gonna let this opportunity go to waste, any less than you were gonna let this go by peacefully. You were gonna get yourself almost killed, like always, because you found his anger funny.
You walked over, your boyfriend not yet noticing you as he zoned out. And, before he got the chance to recognize you—you snatched his hat off of his head. He whipped around so fast—it was almost a blur. His hand was reeled back, ready to punch you in the face as he scowled.
But it stopped.
Mere inches from your face.
You grinned down at Chuuya's face as his scowl turned to surprise—then immediately softening into something else as he lowered his hand.
"You shouldn't do that. I almost broke your nose," he muttered, but you could tell by his eyes that he wasn't angry. You placed his hat on your head, and his lips twitched into a smirk.
"You look ridiculous," he teased, tugging you closer by your wrist until you stood between his legs.
"I look better than you, that's for sure," you teased right back. He playfully scowled, but even he couldn't keep the grin off his lips as you held you by the waist.
You adored this version of Chuuya. Your version of him. Everyone knew him as a loud and rude man—but that was only because people mostly saw him when he was pissed off (no help from his former partner Dazai, who never failed to rile him up). Usually, though, Chuuya was like any other person... and really gentle with you.
"It does look nice on you, though," he mused, his eyes on the hat. You chuckled, "Didn't you just call it ridiculous?" You deadpanned. Chuuya rolled his eyes, "Stop holding me to my words. You know you make anything look good on you. Even nothing," he teased absentmindedly. You blinked at him. He blinked back.
Then, he turned as red as his hair.
"I-I didn't mean that—"
"Oh, so I don't look good in nothing?" You teased—you'd never let him live this down.
"No! Of... of course you—just... ugh," he groaned. You laughed.
Maybe it was because you missed his touch more than his flustered rambling—or maybe you just slipped into a sentimental mood, but instead of teasing him, you ran a hand through his hair. He raised an eyebrow, but didn't complain.
You pulled him into a gentle embrace. He froze for a minute, before his arms tightened around your waist.
"I missed you," you murmured without thinking, voice soft as you subconsciously massaged his shoulders, making him melt into your touch. Chuuya smirked, about to say something snarky—but with your soft tone and the gentle motions on his shoulder... that very smirk faltered as he thought better of whatever he was gonna say, in favor of enjoying the moment.
He rested his face against your stomach, inhaling your scent as you moved your hands from his shoulders to the back of his head.
"I missed you, too, darling," his voice was muffled by the fabric of your clothing. Your fingers ran through his hair again, making him shudder slightly as he held you close.
"Mm, keep doing that..." he muttered. You usually teased him about it when he got like this, but for once, you kept quiet.
Your fingers circled his scalp over and over in a gentle massage. After about a minute, you stopped, reaching up to your own head and removing his hat to place it back on his head.
Chuuya caught your wrist before you put it back on him, "No, keep it. I like it when you wear my things, anyway," he said, taking the hat from your hands. You bent your head down a bit for him to place it on your head again.
"There, now you look perfect," he said, satisfied.
"And ridiculous?" You teased. He rolled his eyes fondly,
"And beautiful, my love. Now shut up and come here," his hands grabbed your waist again as he pulled you onto his lap. You laughed, but didn't resist. He held you against his chest as he nuzzled his head into your neck, inhaling your scent once more.
"Goddamn..." he sighed into your neck, "I was going crazy all these days without seeing you. That damn M*ri didn't assign a single fucking mission, not a single one, with us as partners," he muttered, holding you tighter as if to spite M*ri himself. You only sighed at the mention of your boss.
"It's like ever since we started dating, Boss thinks we won't work well together in missions and we'll slack off. What a bunch of bullshit," he grumbled, cursing M*ri out under his breath as you laughed tiredly.
"Personally, I think we'd work even better together, now that we're dating," you mused. Whenever you two worked together, at least before, you both were great at getting the job done. Working with Chuuya meant sometimes being able to leave your computer room, hold your laptop, and run with him as he did his missions. You got to sneak into and infiltrate buildings to reach their computer room and insert virus chips that gave you all their information—doing it all personally, as Chuuya killed anyone in your path. It was fun. If only that stupid pedo didn't find out you two were together. Then, maybe, you two would spend all day working together again.
"Damn straight. We'd kick their asses," Chuuya bragged, grinning.
"You would kick their asses," you corrected. He rolled his eyes, "You'd kick their digital asses, then."
You smiled at that.
As you two spoke of whatever (mostly stupid shit that happened on missions), he stroked the side of your thigh subconsciously, listening to everything you said while also adding his own input. He occasionally sipped his wine. After the third sip, though, you stopped talking and raised a playful eyebrow.
"Chuuya, honey... don't you think you should stop drinking for tonight?" You asked, chuckling. He furrowed his brows, confused, "Why?" He asked, "Tomorrow's a free day, anyway," he said, about to down the rest of his wine. Only, you snatched it away before he got the chance. He scowled, eyes screaming betrayal.
"Because we both know just how much of a lightweight you are," you teased, watching his scowl widen even more.
"I am not a—! Mmph..."
His words were cut short as he felt your lips against his, melting into the kiss. His cheeks were dusted a pink, less because of alcohol and more because of you. Chuuya's wide eyes closed as his hands gripped your waist. He pulled away for a moment, but you chased him down—not that he resisted much.
Kiss after kiss, his hands found your lower back as he stabled you on his lap, pulling you closer. You pulled away, smirking as he panted softly. His eyes were dazed, staring at you with a look that was almost clouded over.
"What was..." he starts to ask, breathless. You smiled innocently, "What? You wouldn't shut up, so I put your mouth to better use," you said cheerfully. He hid his face in your neck.
"Tch.. you're the one who needs to shut up, idiot," he grumbled against your nape. You could feel the heat of the blood rising to his cheeks against your neck, and it only made you giggle more.
"You are so easy, come on, I just kissed you a little," you teased.
Suddenly, you felt his arms tighten on your waist, and you knew it was too late to take back your words now.
"Easy? I'll show you easy."
You barely had time to react as he kissed you again. His lips were soft against yours, but the kiss wasn't gentle—rather, it was a harsh smack. You couldn't help but gasp at the suddenness of it all, eyes wide, as he used the advantage of your parted lips to slip his tongue into your mouth. You groaned into the kiss, hands tangling into his hair, wide eyes closing. He tasted like wine and something truly his own. A taste you could never get used to yet never get enough of.
Your tongues danced together in each other's mouths, the rest of the people drowned out by the intensity of the kiss. The music of the bar was practically nonexistent to the rhythm of your heartbeats pressed together.
He pulled away, both of you breathless, string of saliva connecting your mouths.
"You're so... easy..." he tried to tease back, though it was hardly affective, seeing as he was just as breathless. He settled for resting his forehead against yours as you two panted together.
"I think I'll continue being easy if that's how you prove it to me," you murmured. He couldn't help the small smile on his lips as he pulled you in again for a briefer kiss. The taste of you was far more intoxicating than any wine would ever be.
Chuuya's hair was a mess, falling over his blue eyes in a way that made your heart stutter. To him, though, seeing you here, on his lap, wearing his hat (though it was on the verge of falling off), and smiling down at him? It was everything he could ever ask for. The tension that clung to your shoulders when you first walked in had eased long ago, and you could tell by his relaxed expression that he was the farthest thing from stressed, too.
Chuuya found it unfair that no matter what was occupying his mind, whether it was important or stressful; you could just come along and make him forget. Maybe M*ri was right to not put you two on missions together, because Chuuya for one would much rather gaze at you.
You just... did that that for him.
You took his stress stress away. You took his breath away. You took everything away, gave it back, and kept his heart... and his hat, too, seeing how it was still perched on your head.
When you first entered the Port Mafia, falling in love with an executive wasn't at the top of your list. But now? Staying in love with him wasn't an option anymore—it was your life.
Loving each other was no longer an option. It was a requirement.
Because even in the mafia, you can have your happy endings.

"Baki baki ni ore~ Nani wo?"
~
The sound of volleyballs hitting the ground echoed through the walls of the gym. You sat on the bleachers, watching your red-haired miracle boy on the court. Said boy was currently teasing Ushijima on a matter the man clearly didn't understand. Ushijima spoke in his usual monotone voice, while Tendō had his signature grin on. It always looked like the redhead was scheming something, but in reality, he may just be asking you about your day.
You reached for your phone, wanting some pictures of your boyfriend—you had checked your gallery earlier and found that you didn't have many photos of him. Which in your book, was a crime against humanity.
The second your camera app opened, you felt familiar eyes on you. You glanced up to find Tendō gazing at you. The middle blocker always seemed to know exactly when you were doing something that required him to not pay attention to you. And he always payed attention. You could hardly get anything by him, let alone surprise him.
But today? You had a plan. You had recently saved up enough money to to take Satori out to his favorite candy shop, right down the street. It was costly stuff—good quality, too. Satori never really got to buy anything from the place, but he was always their first customer when they gave out free samples.
You were practically vibrating with excitement all week. Of course, you hadn't said a word to him. Besides, he insisted on paying for most things anyway, so you only made his life easier when you stopped fighting him over the bill when he took you out on dates. He thought you just accepted defeat—well, at least, you hoped he came to that conclusion. The last thing you wanted him to do was guess this date before it even happened.
You turned your gaze to another player, hoping Satori would just move on. Though he noticed a lot of things, Satori was best at guessing when he could read the eyes and faces of people, so if you didn't look at him, maybe you'd have a better chance at keeping this hidden.
You focused your eyes on Goshiki, who was shouting something and being scolded to quiet down. Tendō followed your gaze, walking over to Goshiki and striking a conversation. He kept a smug smile on his face. Because in the corner of his eye? He knew he'd caught your gaze again.
After practice, you got up from your spot, walking down the stairs of the bleachers and onto the court. Your redhead lover was already smiling, or rather smirking, in your direction as you walked over. His eyes brightened at the very sight of you close to him.
"Hey, miracle boy," you greeted, wrapping your arms around his neck. He grinned sheepishly, a light pink dusting his cheeks as his hands settled around your waist. God, he was adorable.
"Hey," he murmured, then kissed your temple, "how's my paradise doing?" He asked. The petname had always been cheesy, but he had a way of making it sweet enough to pass as cute.
"Better now," you murmured back, eyes flicking from his lips back to his eyes intentionally. He laughed, a little surprised, an adoring look on his face. "You've gotten bolder, sweetheart," he said, one hand cupping your cheek. That was all it took for your confidence to crumble. Your face turned slightly red as you averted your gaze. You were never good at flirting, but you'd certainly gained enough confidence to try it with him.
Satori's smile softened, and he tilted your head towards him. He pressed a kiss against your lips. Soft and sweet.
"You did amazing, my love," he reassured. Your heart melted, and you quickly buried your face into his neck. He laughed softly, but not at you. "You think so?" You finally asked, tilting your head up. Satori smirked, "No, paradise, I know so. I saw it with my own two eyes." You chuckle, embarrassment easing.
"So," he began. Uh oh, you think. That "so" never meant good news, not for you. That "so" meant I know what you're planning.
"You gonna say something? It's obvious you planned something for me," he teased, grinning, clearly excited as he ruffled your hair.
Meanwhile, you groaned. "Ugh, do you have to ruin every surprise I plan for you?" You had meant the words as a tease, spoken as you rested your forehead on his shoulder. But when you lifted your head, you found that Satori had a raised brow paired with a small frown on his lips.
"Oh, sorry. Did I do it again?" He asked, the small frown more apparent. Satori was known to guess almost everything, and he often felt bad when he guessed a surprise you were planning for him months in advance.
You quickly cupped his face with both hands, "No, no, it's fine. You don't even know what it is yet, and don't you dare try to figure it out," you said with a smile so he knew you truly weren't upset, just trying to salvage whatever surprise was left. Your finger tapped against his forehead, "You hear me, miracle boy? No more thinking in this big brain of yours or else no surprise," you playfully threatened. He grinned, raising his hands in mock surrender.
"Whatever you say, paradise."
You dragged him along by his hands as he told you about Ushijima's hilariously monotone attempt at jokes.
"Yeah, and I tried to tell him a few good ones, and he didn't even get them! He told me that it was, quote on quote, 'very unsafe for chickens to cross roads,'" Tendō said before the two of you burst into giggles.
By the time you reached, your belly hurt from how much you laughed in the last ten minutes alone.
Satori's eyes widened when he saw the candy shop; surprise, happiness, and pure gratefulness circled through him as he locked eyes with you. Just as quickly, though, his happiness dampened.
"Baby... I appreciate it, really, but the treats are expensive," he said softly, as if he was trying not to make you feel guilty. Only, you had the biggest smile on your face as you reached for your phone. He raised an eyebrow, watching the screen from over your shoulder.
His eyes widened when you opened up your bank account.
"Wait..." a genuine smile spread across his face as he realized what this meant. "I saved up for—" you didn't get to finish your sentence as he crushed you in a hug. You laughed—well, wheezed—until he finally let you go. Nothing but pure joy was behind those eyes. You adored the way his whole face lit up.
You nudged him towards the store, and it wasn't long before it was him dragging you in.
As soon as the door opened, a wave of sweet scents hit your nose. You almost got diabetes just standing there. Tendō, however, didn't seem affected in the slightest as he practically pranced on in.
Ice cream, candy, brownies, cakes—anything sweet you could name (and even ones you couldn't) filled the baby pink menu screens from left to right. The most popular sweets were placed in a see-through display for customers to see. You watched one of the only not-baby-pink screens, which was simply a loop of the shop's best treats. A gentle melody played in the background, though the sound was drowned out by the crowd of people.
It wasn't packed, but there was a decent amount of people. Parents with children who begged for more chocolate, couples together for dates like the two of you were, and every other person you'd expect to see at a candy shop.
As Satori gave you one last glance to make sure this was okay (he wanted to make sure after seeing the prices—you nodded in response), he went on to grab a pink menu as you people-watched.
Your eyes were fixed on this particular guy, in his 40s, maybe. He was your idea of a business guy. Sharp glasses, clean-cut beard, and a laptop he was typing on. You'd expect him to order a black coffee, rather than be at a place like this. He was the type of guy wattpad authors would write as their intimidating mafia man. Only he was holding a cupcake (he ate it intimidatingly). He got pink frosting on his nose (intimidatingly). He wiped it off with his nose with his thumb and licked it (intimidatingly). He took a bite of chocolate cake (very focused, very intimidating).
While you were giggling to yourself about this random man, Satori returned with two bags full of treats. He raised an eyebrow, "Should I be worried you're giggling while staring at a man probably double our age?" He asked. You chuckled and shook your head, "Intimidatingly," you murmur to yourself. Tendō chose not to question you any longer as you found a seat
As Tendō ate his scoop of chocolate ice cream, he zoned out. No one had ever done this for him before. There was a certain softness and appreciation in his gaze that you noticed. You knew he had a rough childhood. You knew he expected to be the "creepy guy" to everyone who didn't know him personally for forever.
Though some may call his accurate guessing creepy, it really wasn't. At least not to you. It was just something he picked up, like an advanced version of observing. Observing enough that he had a good prediction of what would happen next. That was all it was. And yet, instead of being praised for it, he was judged.
Your hand reached out to brush against his, on top of the table. He snapped back to reality and smiled softly, turning his hand so the palm was facing up and holding yours.
In a shop full of expensive sweets, he knew one thing.
You were the sweetest and most valuable one of all.

"That's docohexaenoic acid to you!"
~
"Oh my god, how are you so stupid?" The rooster-haired male groaned, one hand massaging his temples as he fought to stay sane—a difficult battle, especially against your idiocy.
You pouted, but honestly, you were just as disappointed in yourself. You let your head fall face first onto your chem homework. You were currently sitting in front of your desk, while he stood beside you, despite the perfectly stable stool right next to him.
Kuroo had begun this tutoring session at ten this morning—it was now three, and you were only halfway through the second page. Your boyfriend's patience was clearly fraying, seeing as he stopped making jokes an hour ago and started explaining it in a softer tone like that would make you understand. The quiet sighs told you everything you needed to know.
Kuroo was a chemistry major, and though his classes and dorm were on the other side of campus, he still made his way to you every day. Because honestly, you'd fail without him. You thought minoring chemistry would mean fun explosions. And boy were you so, so wrong. You didn't speak elements of the periodic table, and unfortunately for you, it seemed every equation was written in those random letter combinations with small numbers underneath.
"Earth to Y/n,"
You snapped out of your pitying-yourself state as a hand snapped in front of you. Your eyes trailed the muscular arm back to your boyfriend's face. Even if Kuroo wasn't going pro in volleyball, he sure knew how to keep the body for it.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bed Hair sighed louder than before, his calloused hands gripping your shoulders lightly as he shook you. "Baby, oi. Quit zoning out!" he scolded. You groaned, swatting him away, but he only caught your hand in his. With a quieter sigh, he rubbed his thumb over your knuckles, thinking for a moment. Then, he let go of your shoulder, and with that free hand, he picked up your chemistry work again, taking a seat beside you (on the previously unused stool). Meanwhile, you played with his other hand. Anything to try and distract him. Too bad for you;
"Y/n, your formula for this—"
Yeah. You stopped listening the second he said "formula". You could tell he knew what he was talking about, though, even if you had no clue. The only chemistry you remembered were those corny ass pick-up lines he loved to use on you in high-school. He still used them, but with how busy college made you two, it wasn't as easy as stopping in front of your locker and wooing you with a dorky line.
You didn't know when he noticed you weren't listening, not until you suddenly felt yourself lifted from your seat. You yelped, eyes wide, as Kuroo lifted you bridal style in his arms. Apparently, some time between when he said "formula" and when you snapped to attention, he had stood up. And now you were coming with him. Your hands held onto his neck for dear life—not because you were worried you were too heavy for him, but because you wouldn't be surprised if he dropped you, seeing how annoying you were probably being.
He tossed you in the air once as you cried out. Then, with a small, smug grin, he dropped you onto your bed. You settled after one bounce, glaring at him. He only chuckled, sitting beside where he dropped you and pulling you onto his lap before you could protest. He buried his face in your neck. Your annoyance was replaced by that familiar guilt you felt whenever he tutored you. You never seemed to understand it, no matter how hard he tried. You weren't dumb, it's just your brain wasn't built for the complex world of chemistry like his was.
You knew he was getting tired of explaining it to you. You knew you were being too much right now.
"Baby, stop with that look on your face," he said, suddenly squeezing your face together with one hand, making your cheeks squish like a chipmunk. He snorted at the sight of it. You only pushed his hand away, "What look?" You asked. His hands traced shapes on your waist as he gazed up at you.
"That guilty one. Like you're doing something wrong," he said, kissing your forehead. "You should've told me you weren't listening. We've been at it for hours, we could've just taken a break," he murmured, running one hand through his hair, like he was also blaming himself for not noticing. You replaced his hand with your own, messing up his natural bedhead even more. He playfully scowled, though he leaned into your touch anyway.
"I swear, though, you're gonna kill me one day," Kuroo said in a sigh, exasperated as he caught your wrist, pressing a kiss to your pulse and pressing holding it against his face. You were visibly getting flustered—never used to his casual affection, despite being together for years now—you still felt those butterflies erupt in your stomach. He smiled, poking your cheek with the hand that wasn't holding your wrist.
"Cute," he teased, his usual grin back. "Oh, shut up, you..." You grumbled. He gasped, letting go of your wrist to place a hand over his heart dramatically, while the other now held your hip.
"You? I've been demoted so much that now my name is you!?" He said, with such conviction, you were regretting skipping past that theater audition poster. He would've been a great actor.
"You're dragging it,"
"Oh, so what I'm hearing is I'm too dramatic and you don't love me anymore?"
"That's not what I—"
"So you don't love me anymore?"
"Tetsu."
"There we go," he broke out in a grin, poking your annoyed expression until it eased into a soft smile.
"You're such a dork," you murmured, grateful anyway as you kissed his cheek. His grin widened at the kiss, beaming like a dog with a treat. "Your dork, though."
"Yeah, yeah, all mine," you mused, not even hiding the smile on your lips. He kissed the corner of it and you turned your lips to catch his own. The kiss was brief, but the moment lingered, filling the two of you with a certain warmth that you never realized you missed so much.
"It's been so long..." you start, and his eyes softened. It truly had been too long. Classes at different times and places in campus kept you two apart, it was practically a long distance relationship... only you two were in the same area, just not together or able to interact at all. Kuroo let the sentimental mood stick for a bit—unusual for him. He kissed your forehead, then your cheek, and then your lips again before breaking out into a grin once more. "You know what else I haven't done in forever?" He asked with a mischievous grin. You groaned.
"..."
"Come on, ask me,"
"I'm scared..."
"Don't be,"
"If you say something stupid, I'm smacking you,"
"You'll smack me anyway,"
"...Fine, I'll bite. What else haven't you done in forever?"
"Tell you that you're definitely made of Fluorine, Iodine and Neon,"
You blinked, too confused to smack him.
"...What?"
He rolled his eyes, but gently nudged you,
"Ask me why,"
"...Why?"
He grinned.
"Because you're F-I-Ne as hell," he said with a grin. Your mouth twisted in a mix of cringe and adoration. "I feel like you've told me that one before," you finally said. He raised an eyebrow, frowning, "Oh, have I? I have another one rea—" "No, no, I think I'm okay!" You covered his mouth with both of your hands. His frown turned into a small smile against your palm. You quickly retracted your hands before he could do something stupid like lick it.
"But still, you're fine as hell. Look at you, gorgeous," he said, rubbing circles on your waist. You could feel heat rising to your face. Just to push it more, he gazed at you with those eyes, "How did I ever score someone like you? Damn funny too..."
You tried to find your voice, but the most you could manage was; "Just... shut up,"
He chuckled. "Kiss me silent," he murmured against your ear, which only made you more flustered. He grinned at your reaction, kissing the tip of your now bright red ear. You twisted to move away.
"Oh my god, fine, just—" your lips met his in a sudden kiss that quickly melted. He adjusted you on him and tilted your head so your noses wouldn't stop you, deepening the kiss. What started as a brief kiss quickly turned into something more intimate. He kissed you like he was starved of it—and honestly? He might as well have been, especially with how busy assignments had made you two. Kiss after kiss, every time you pulled away for air, he'd chase you,
"Mm... baby, don't pull away,"
"Just one more and then I'll let you catch your breath,"
"Come on, five more minutes..."
"It's been too long, can you blame me?"
By the time he let you go, you swore you were on the verge of passing out (you were exaggerating, according to him). Luckily for you, his phone buzzed on the table, which successfully ruined the mood (you weren't happy about that), but at least you could breathe now (your lungs were overjoyed).
With his shoulder as your pillow, you both gazed at his phone. His hand brushed circles onto your waist, while the other scrolled through his phone. You watched him open stupid snaps from Bokuto, mostly bad quality pictures that you couldn't even recognize anyone in, except the random blur of orange which you knew had to be Shoyo.
Suddenly, Kuroo stopped scrolling. You raised an eyebrow as he turned his phone off.
"The chemistry work," he said, like he just remembered. You internally groaned.
"No, we did enough for today," you tried to tug him back. He didn't let you pull him closer, though he didn't pull away. "Isn't that packet due tomorrow?" He deadpanned. You swallowed.
"Okay, okay, fine..."
He pulled you up, guiding you back to your desk. You stood in front of it. His hand was just reaching for the packet when you spoke,
"But first—"
He raised an eyebrow, hand frozen mid-air, eyes reading over your expression like he was figuring out if this was something serious or you just stalling. You swallowed.
"One more kiss?"
That dorky smile lit up his face again as he tugged you close.
"Of course, my little nucleus,"
"What's that mean?"
"Well, what's the nucelus of an atom?"
"The center?"
"Exactly."
"...I don't get it."
"You're the center of my world,"

"I love you,"
~
You and Apollo had been lovers for a year, now. Happily together. Life with an immortal had been interesting. He could appear anywhere and annoy the hell out of you, and yet you still never got tired of him. Well really, he's the one who didn't get tired of you.
He did love you. Maybe not more than himself, but definitely more than his siblings. He often brought you around them, telling them you were "the only one here" he could stand as an attempt to spite them, but they only made jokes about how he'd get bored and move on to the next mortal. Jokes that he did not appreciate.
After all, Apollo had been closed off to love and long relationships such as this one. Sure, he'd mingle and mess around—but actually settling down wasn't his thing. Especially not after what happened with his past lovers. Examples like Hyacinthus or Daphne still stuck with him today.
But then you came along. You and your stupid smile. Your stupid insults about his music. He should have smited you. And yet, it had been a while since a mortal challenged him, so he entertained your stupid demands and played you a song until you shut up.
You broke down his walls one by one, all by being the most annoying mortal he'd ever met. And yet, he'd never met anyone so interesting and so certain that he wouldn't do anything to you. And slowly... the god himself fell for you.
Loving Apollo was like loving the sun. He lit up every room he was in, and his voice was gentle when he sang to you, flooding you with warmth. But his anger was also blistering, and arguments could take weeks to blow over. Oh, and? He was hot.
Apollo was always a sentimental god, and it was that thought process that brought him here, inside your room. You had been peacefully sleeping in the mortal world (you always disagreed to go to Olympus, because a certain trickster God would never leave you alone) when you woke up to that all to familiar feeling you got when he was around. The feeling of hey, someone divine is here!
He had not intended to wake you up, and had forgotten to mask his presence. So now, you stared up at him as he avoided your glare with a sheepish look on his face.
He quickly masked it with a smirk, though.
"How does it feel to be woken up by the hottest thing alive?" He teased. Your glare softened as you chuckled quietly, voice still raspy from waking up, rolling your eyes.
"One, you're literally the god of the sun, of course you're hot. And two, did you just refer to yourself as a thing?" You teased back, bursting into giggles at his offended scowl.
"Wha—you know that's not what I meant!" He protested. You grinned, just wide enough of a smile to make his divine heart melt a little. His mock-glare melted into a more genuine, soft expression.
"Come here," he commanded quietly. You groaned, comfortable in bed and not wanting to move. You earned an exasperated sigh from him and heard footsteps towards you. You opened your eyes to see him looking down at you with those golden eyes, disapproving, but still loving.
"You know, if you were anyone else, disobeying my order like that would get you smited," he said, crossing his arms with a know-it-all smirk. You rolled your eyes, smiling lazily as you reached for his hand and tugged him down onto the bed, making him yelp in surprise even though he could see this coming (he's the god of prophecy, but also the god of dramatics, you'd say). You held him close, feeling him shift to get comfortable as his protest dies on his tongue.
"But I'm not just anyone," you said, smiling. He relaxed in your embrace.
Then, he lifted his head, eyes narrowing.
"You know, I'm supposed to be the one holding you. Not the other way around," he mumbled.
"Can't I just keep a god in my arms for one day?" You mumbled, only half-audible as he chuckled at your tired voice.
"Not just any god, though. Me." He added, smugness radiating off of him as you bit back a tired sigh, so done with him. You shifted to lay on your side, facing him better.
"I don't know about that..."
You teased lightly.
He scowled once more.
"Hey!" He glared as you laughed at him.
"You better take that back," he grumbled, "you only love me and you know it." He said, matter-of-factly.
"Mm... I don't know. Hermes is pretty han—"
"Hermes!?"
You died of laughter at the pure betrayal on his face.
"You can't be serious? Hermes? As in my brother Hermes? The annoying one? The one who is the entire reason you refuse to go to Olympus? That Hermes? You like him?" Apollo seemed less upset about the fact you suggested liking someone else, and more concerned that Hermes was your first pick.
Apollo's glare softened at your grin, shifting to mock annoyance, softer when he saw you laugh. He twisted out of your embrace, and you let him, knowing he wouldn't leave you alone on the bed for much longer than five minutes. He grumbled in annoyance and something about dumb brothers as you giggled softly, watching his figure as he stood up and glared, standing just beside the bed.
"Come onnn, you know I was kidding," you drew out your words, trying to tug him close, but he only moved away.
"Nope," he looked away, refusing to give in to you lazily staring at him, a pout in his lips.
"Pleaaseeeee?" You whined in a pleading voice as Apollo shook his head. You sighed. Time to pull out the big guns.
"Please?" You ask, in a more genuine tone, both eyes open to give him that soft, pleading look. Apollo met your gaze for half a second before he huffed in faux anger.
"Damn it—that's not fair and you know it!" He protested, his arms gesturing wildly, though he did move a little close, hoping you didn't notice. You raised an eyebrow, a small, amused but confused smirk on your lips.
"What's not fair?" You asked, sitting up as you moved to the edge of the bed, right in front of where he stood.
"When you—" his breath hitched when he met your eyes again, then, he pointed an accusatory finger at your eyes. "There! Right there! That's not allowed. You're not allowed to look at me like... that." Apollo said, desperate for some sort of leverage. You raised an eyebrow again.
"I'm not supposed to look at you...? You asked, amused.
"Shut up! You know that's not what I meant!—" he sighed. "Just forget it..." he muttered before giving in and falling back into your arms, pulling you into an embrace that felt like the sun warming you after a cold day as the two of you lay down again.
Now it was you trying to get him off.
"Apollo, sunshine, I need to go get a glass of water," you mumble, trying to escape his grasp. He stubbornly held you, making you laugh slightly as he tightened his grip.
"Hmph..." he shook his head in disapproval. You watched as a glass of water floated toward both of you, hovering right over your hands. But of course, his arms around you restricted your ability to grab it. You cleared your throught, and he groaned faintly in annoyance that he had to let go.
Apollo grabbed the glass out of the air and held it in front of you, one hand still wrapped around your waist.
"Must I do everything for you?" He muttered, glaring at you with no real heat behind those golden eyelashes of his. Still, you scoffed.
"You were the one restricting me—!" Your protest was cut short by the glass of water pressed against your lips. Giving him an unamused look and earning a chuckle from him, you drank the water.
As the glass floated away, probably back to the kitchen, or wherever he got it from, he went back to holding you.
...
It got quiet... too quiet. You could hear your own heart beating, and you knew he could too. That irregular rhythm caused by his presence—the rhythm of something that was a constant reminder to him that you were mortal. A rhythm that would one day stop.
The quiet was unnatural. Not comfortable like usual, but rather, a sort of heaviness weighing down—the kind that made you know, not think, that something was up with him.
"Apollo?" You said his name softly, waiting for him to look up at you. Only he didn't, he only held you tighter. You gently ran your hands through his hair, worried. You cleared your throat.
"Apolloooo," you stretched his name out playfully, trying to lighten the mood or maybe even annoy him—anything to get a response—yet he remained quiet, face buried into your neck.
You tilted your head to catch a glimpse of his face before got a chance to hide it again. From what you saw, he wasn't exactly joyful. The sudden switch from warm and playful to a heavy sadness had your head spinning.
It wasn't faux or dramatics, either. Whatever was bothering him, this was real. Your voice was softer when you said his name again.
"Apollo, look at me," you quietly commanded, and he sighed, meeting your gaze with a forced look of normalcy. You gently cradled his cheek, expression hardening as you saw the glimpse of a tear forming in left eye.
"Apollo—"
You quickly cupped his face with both hands as that tear slipped down his cheer, quickly brushed away by your hand without a second of hesitation. This was new. No matter how upset he got, he didn't cry. Not in front of you, at least. Please, a god crying in front of a mortal? Unheard of.
"Stay with me..." he whispered, burying his face into your neck again. Your eyes were wide with concern, but they softened when you heard his words. Your fingers lightly treaded his golden curls.
"Of course, I'm staying. I'm not going anywhere, I prom—"
Before the word promise escaped your frantic lips, he silenced you with a kiss. But it wasn't one of his usual, soft, heart-felt kisses. This one felt like it was just an attempt to shut you up. As his lips left yours, his eyes met with your gaze.
"Don't—don't promise. Please. I've... I've broken enough promises myself." He whispered, his wet cheek one again pressed against the skin of your neck.
"This one won't be brok—"
He cut you off again, his voice louder than intended;
"Yes it will!"
You widened your eyes at the sheer volume and certainty of his words, staring at him. His lip quivered slightly. He wasn't used to feeling this way—this vulnerable—in front of someone. His arms around you tightened, so tight it was almost bruising, but just short.
"It... it always is..." his voice was so quiet, you barely heard it. Tears were freely flowing now.
"I don't..." your sentence trailed off, your mind racing. You knew of his past experiences—who didn't? But something in his voice told you this wasn't just projecting.
"Don't you understand?" He asked in a quiet sob, eyes blazing with a mix of anger and hurt... but not at you. Never at you. For you never did anything wrong. You were just.. a pawn in the game of life. His life, that the Fates just loved playing with.
"You're a mortal! I'm a god!" He yelled, like screaming it would change the inevitable. You stayed quiet, listening to the way his usually perfect voice and the way it cracked on the word "god".
"What we have..." he sobs into the fabric of your shirt, "It won't—this won't last," he lifted his head, tears dripping down his chin as he glared at nothing yet everything at the same time. He was furious. Furious at the Fates. Furious at life for being this way. Furious that one day he'd have to lose you just as he had lost so many others. Furious that he had to lose another thing he cared about. So, so furious... that yet another good thing would have to slip right out of his hands the moment he tried to grasp it. Why? Why couldn't he just have something? Have something worth keeping in his immortal life.
"You'll—you'll..." he couldn't bring himself to finish the sentence, but you knew what he was trying to say. He'd have to watch you age. Your body slowly giving up on itself, while he remained unchanged.
"Why do I have to watch you... watch you wither away?" He asked the air, holding you close as tears left your own eyes too. Not because you were afraid of death. Not because you were even sad at the thought. You weren't affected by that—but you didn't want to cause him so much pain. So much unbearable pain—and you couldn't even do anything to stop it.
After all, you were only mortal.
You both quietly cried in each other's arms. Apollo's golden, bright eyes had dampened by tears and a slight redness that no one would expect to see from ah immortal.
The tears on both your faces were well-dried by now, streaks of saline still left on your cheeks as he didn't let you go. Afraid that if he did, you'd die sooner. That he'd have to say goodbye sooner. But he was the god of healing, not of time. He couldn't control the natural affect it had on your body. The effect it had on your life, or your relationship, were also completely out of his control.
You finally spoke up, voice quiet.
"Apollo... I don't want you to watch me..." you start, but trail off, knowing he'd know what came next. His divine eyes held a solemn gaze, the frustration he felt earlier melting into a softer desperation as he met your eyes. You cleared your throat, speaking again.
"So, I think it's best if we—"
"No."
His voice wasn't loud, but it carried such conviction, he might as well have screamed it. Apollo's eyes held your own gaze, unchanging. As if you suggesting that you two could break up to save him the pain of losing you was the dumbest thing you'd ever thought of.
"I won't let that happen. Ever." He said, firmly, as he held your face with one hand. "Can't you understand, songbird?" He whispered, kissing your forehead again as tears welled up in his eyes again.
"I love you..."
That single phrase sent a wave of emotion through the both of you. Memories of all the times both of you had uttered those exact words.
The playful ones where you'd both sit there for hours, having "I love you more" wars, always ending in him using the excuse of being a god, so "it's theoretically impossible for a mortal like you to love me more" and you scoffing.
The soft ones, which he whispered in your ear as you fell asleep at night, in his arms, or when he held you close after a long day.
The desperate ones, to try and get you to forgive him for skipping yet another date because his father called out for a meeting or his divine duties taking longer then usual.
The annoyed ones exchanged when you two fought, a last resort to make sure you knew that no matter was argument you two got into, he was there.
"I love you~"
"I love you!"
"I looooovvveeee you~"
"I... love you..."
"I love you."
The different I love you's circled through your head, and then, this one. "I love you." The same phrase, uttered by the same man who said it every other time, too. And yet, this one was different. This one was the reason he wouldn't let you go. He couldn't. He loved you too much.
But of course, no matter how many "I love you"'s were exchanged.
No matter how many endless nights were spent under under the stars.
No matter how many cold winter days were spent cuddled up in his temple.
No matter how many summers you had complained to him about the sun being too hot, and him lowering the intensity for you.
No matter how many mornings felt too bright for you until he made the sun set again just so you could go back to sleep.
No matter how many arguments were caused by which celebrity was hotter, always ending in a dinner date with silence.
And truly, no matter how much the two of you loved each other, that didn't change how the Fates cut the string for every mortal, every day.
That day replayed in his head, over and over. Once, then twice, then five times, then it never stopped.
Because if he were ever mad at you for anything, he'd take all that anger and throw it at you now. But how could he? How could you? Now that you lay six feet under, and he stood in front of your grave.
It had been months. And yer he stayed here, ignoring the duties given to him. Ignoring every aspect of his life, except for you. Though... you weren't a part of his life anymore, were you? You had probably moved on, chose Elysium, maybe you were reborn.
Yet he stayed, stayed in this exact spot. The ground would've worn down if not for his divine feet. After all, if he stayed here, what would change? The sun would still move across the sky, regardless of his chariot, as it still had to follow the natural elements that allowed the Earth to rotate and exist.
Music would be played, sung, listened to. Poetry would be read. Bows would be strung, arrows shot. People would still heal with time.
He could stay here for the rest of his eternity, staring at your name engraved in the stone. He didn't even feel pathetic for loving a mortal this much. After all, the mostal was you. How he wished he could have replaced that name with anyone else.
His once bright eyes were now hollow. He'd lost so much.
Too much.
And though he may eventually get over this, he knew it would leave a scar. He knew he'd still think about you when life got quiet. And he knew he'd still be stupid enough to fall for someone else he'd have to lose again. But all that may happen later... for now? He was focused on you. On the fact he'd never see you again.
And yet, the Fates still cut the string.
And he lost one more.
But that one was worth everything.
