Healthy January meals from Amelia Freer’s Eat. Nourish. Glow. and using the nutribullet #31dasy2015
I had a couple of false starts before getting going with kicking the gluten. I was still away on my New Year trip with friends sharing food until the 2nd January and then visited a friend who had baked brownies especially for my visit on the 3rd January. I did trying to say no but it’s was hard...
Glad to hear it's going so well.
Wheat Belly book by Dr William Davis which I am following this January
Let us know how you get on.
Since I agreed to take part in 31 days of inspiration, which HarperCollins are running this January, I’ve been struggling to decide of the books to follow. I was torn between books which can help you improve your mind, mental health and well being (13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do,...

After reading the first 120 pages of Benny Lewis’s Fluent in 3 Months, I feel I should start with a confession: this book isn’t really aimed at me. I was one of those annoying kids who was good at languages at school. I picked up Latin at university (didn’t like it, and wasn’t great at it, but...

Alice's Happiness Project #1
I am attempting Grethen Rubin's "happiness project" for #31days2015 as a way to change my life for the better. Yes I know, it is day 6 of January and I am a little late to the game, but realistically, we were still in the 12 days of xmas until now which is definitely the domain of sofa-dwelling and box-set binging. So anyway, let's start now.
Gretchen does her happiness project by setting a goal month-by-month, but for the purpose of #31days2015 I will attempt to condense 12 months into 1. January's goal is to 'Boost Energy'. This is particularly challenging I think you'll agree, as it is a truth universally acknowledged that January is totally rubbish. Gretchen's aims for the month are as follows:
*Go to sleep earlier - shouldn't be a problem, if there is something I do well, it is sleep AND I just got a new duvet which is lush and quite frankly makes me want to dive in as soon as I get home.
*Exercise better -I do have a gym membership but have yet to frequent it this year. So, I will attempt to make it to one class this week, albeit a yoga class to ease me into things.
*Toss, restore, organise - I spent the weekend on this one, I had a wardrobe cleanse and threw out anything I hadn't worn in the last 2 months. I can now actually find stuff I want to wear - v. satisfying.
*Tackle a nagging task - All December I put off turning down a wedding invitation as I knew it would make me feel terrible. On Sunday, I finally did it. I felt terrible, but now I feel better knowing it's over.
*Act more energetic - I am attempting to smile more and act more cheerily despite grim January days. Will keep you posted on how it goes!
As I understand it, the raisin exercise serves as an introduction to the concept of mindfulness – to fully experience something, and notice all aspects of it. I didn’t have a raisin, so I went with its younger cousin and used a grape.
When eating a raisin/grape, the aspiring mindful person...
Interesting that it is such a weird concept to focus and concentrate on your food before you eat it.
So here we are. Or rather, here I am – part of HarperCollins’ 31 Days of Inspiration, where a bunch of us have chosen a book to live by for the month of January.
My choice? Michael Chaskalson’s Mindfulness in Eight Weeks which, according to the cover, is ‘the revolutionary eight-week...
Eating a raisin? How did that go? Hope you enjoy living the book.
So, first day of the #jasonvale #7lbin7days coincided with my first day back at work and day one of insanity max30! Talk about shock to the system!!
The juices so far today have tasted really yummy (Photos to follow). I’ve juiced before and they’ve never tasted this good! I had to have two juices...
Good luck with the juice diet. Let us know how you get on.
