Just watched the TADC movie with my friends!!
I have to say, I could be as nitpicky as I want to, but at the same time I can't deny that I genuinely had fun watching it, and I kind of feel like that's the point

happy iron lung day to all who celebrate
Objectified OC!!
I got a little too obsessed with Objectified, so, I made my own character! I always use 409 to clean surfaces at my house so I got a little silly and gave one arms and legs hehe
I'd like to think that being a natural disinfectant would be a pretty useful thing to have, especially in an apocalypse - not only can he fend off some parasites, but he can also clean off old abandoned areas so teammates won't get diseases, utensils before eating, ect. I hope this isn't too unoriginal of a concept 🥲
I will also be putting this onto artfight(same username as here)!! ATTACK ME THIS JULY RAAAAAGH
Artfight is coming up... You know what that means?
REF SHEETS!! (I still have more to make after this!! Augh 😭😭)
I originally made this character as a Dandy's world OC, but ended up liking her design and changing it up a bit.
Angie the Anglerfish is a part-human part-anglerfish fantasy person who's been mostly introverted her entire life. I do have some lore for her, but I'd rather just post art for now.
Last year was my first year officially participating in artfight, but I'm hoping to do more of it this time! My username on artfight is Hazelkitti, just like it is here. I would love to attack anyone(that means you, whoever's reading this)!! >:)
A small doodle I made towards the end of my art class today for chapter 3 of my dynamush fic!
+ some other doodles I made of Dynamite and Mushroom on a whiteboard:
the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
yes boy break the gender norms you go off thing
-Objectified EP 100 spoilers!!-
A normal family.
I really like Mushroom and Dynamite from the webcomic Objectified, so I wrote a fanfic about them and made a drawing for it during art today!! The silliesss😭
It occurs to me that I should probably post my own personal art here besides just my fanart, so, here's a piece I made last Winter Break.
I titled it "Generational Shoes."
The bottom left are my Mom's, the bottom right my Dad's, and along the top are mine and my older brother's.
I thought this was a fun representation of my family, because we all wear very different shoes, and having them all on the tray near the front door where they normally should be means we're all at home, not busy doing something else(work, school, ect). That normally doesn't happen very often.
In making this, I think I've decided I don't like charcoal very much, lol. I made a huge mess and kept on accidentally smudging it. I'm still very proud of how it turned out, though.
Artblock so annoying I started drawing background crk characters
Random doodles I made during art!!
pure vanilla should be giving shadow milk all of his attention obviously, who even is that white-haired lady /j
Anyways, for this, one of my friends has this one jacket that's completely open in the back, and I was like... what if shadow milk wore that (+ some other doodles aswell)
Art I made of eternal sugar and shadow milk's new costumes!!
I really liked the concept that he's trapped in a play and she's a playwright, so I just imagined, what if she was sewing him together like a doll?
(no shadow milk cookies were harmed in the making of this art) (im joking. I don't think he's okay.)
Anyways, I hope this looks good!! I've kind of given up on trying to fix the shading on eternal sugar, lmao. I apologize eternally for doing you dirty my queen 😔🙏 I love esc sm!! I've also been told I did the sleeves wrong but oh well
I think in the future I'm gonna go back to the way I normally shade, this was pretty time consuming. (I shaded it in black and white, then blocked in the colors, then played with the layer types. One of my friends colors like this which is why I wanted to try it)
+ the sketch I made:
literally no better feeling than blurting out some loud dumbass joke with your buddies and hearing a total stranger ugly-snort-laugh as they walk past bc their own laughter caught them by surprise. find joy and connection in the spontaneity of strangers you son of a bitch. i fucking got your ass
This is what it's like when I say the dumbest things imaginable to my wife or partner in the checkout lines to see if the cashier will crack a smile. A little human connection between the drudgery.
A few years ago when my little sister was maybe ten or so we went to this like, novelty/antiques store which had an impressive amount of really bad taxidermy. We were sort of doing our own things and I was across the room from her so when she spots this horrible fish she has to run over and yell “ come see the ugliest taxidermied old fish I’ve ever seen “ at me. Without even thinking I just said “you’re the ugliest taxidermied old fish I’ve ever seen.” Which got a snort from an old man across the room. Anyways a few minutes later my stepmom came in and my sister said the same thing to her, and without missing a beat my stepmom deadpans “your father’s the ugliest taxidermied old fish I’ve ever seen”. The old guy absolutely LOST it
oh my god there's this one like. fluffy thing. that was on the end of the strings on my favorite pajama pants and. it just fell off. i liked fiddling with it because of how fluffy it was and now it's just a hard stump of knotted string and i cant put it back together so i cant fiddle with the strings on my pajama pants anymore. this is the greatest tragedy ever. the fluffy thing is lost = the earth is on fire
“I…”
White Lily began, struggling to form words.
“Is… is this truly- do you-”
“I love you,”
Elder Faerie stated, confirming it with his eyes, gazing at her as though there was nothing else more important in the world.

Some art I made for a fic I made not too long ago. What if, instead of leaving the faerie kingdom after Elder Faerie begged her to stay with him, White Lily chose to stay for a single day? (There's an unfinished bit in the middle, but you can ignore that 🥲)

My very hot take about Shadow Milk's crashout at the end of BY8 (and by extension his whole character) is that both the English and Korean contexts are valid.
Imo, it feels like the English dub plays into the idea that the character of Shadow Milk is a performance the most, and is probably the most deceiving out of the dubs, even to the audience. He switches between facades easily: the silly jester, the sinister madman, the sadistic psycho, the nuisance that the other Beasts dislike - all to protect the hurt individual within.
One very, very important thing to note is that... Shadow Milk Cookie is a liar (cue Pikachu's shocked face).
!! Everything he says here is part of his facade. !!
View the crashout from his POV. This guy who stole your Soul Jam, the guy that you manipulated and obsessed over as the result of a clash of ideals ascends and was able to push past the doubt that Deceit brought and reconciliate the fact that they are indeed inseparable and accepted it when you couldn't.... Offering you something you have always desired but could never obtain...
It's easier for Shadow Milk to dismiss Pure Vanilla as nothing because of his pride, because of his fear of vulnerability.
'Shadow Milk actually hates Pure Vanilla yadda yadda yadda' Again, I am tapping the sign that Shadow Milk is a LIAR.
It's easier for him to say he hates Pure Vanilla than to confront the fact that he has been hurt and is at risk of appearing vulnerable. It's easier to say hate than to confront the complicated emotions he feels about the whole betrayal after PV's awakening.
Remember earlier when he was talking about Pure Vanilla's souljam? When he was talking about how he couldn't stand PV's souljam resonating whenever he was with his friends?
That souljam, to Shadow Milk, represents his loss. His own lost friendships (perhaps with the Beasts), his own loneliness. From the story in the One of Darkness Absolute, there is some sort of awareness that he is annoying to the other Beasts (like Burning Spice and Mystic Flour doesn't even try to hide it from him). He hesitates in the Wind Archer story when he says 'I don't have that many... friends'. He knows that a lot of things have changed between them but he still calls them friends because he's still trying to cling on in some way or form.
On the other hand, the Korean dub (and probably all the other dubs too - I crosschecked with the Chinese dub since that is my second language) is more straightforward and doesn't leave any ambiguity for interpretation. It makes sense as to why, since after all it is a story that the audience is supposed to take a message from. But in some ways, it can feel a little...expositiony?
Coming from a writer, the dialogue, if directly translated, feels too stilted in English, and especially when one is crashing out... which is why I can see they opt for that dialogue instead.
No localisation is ever perfect, especially for different languages such as Korean to English for a complex character like Shadow Milk.
I think the only flaw in the English localisation here is underplaying the extent to which Smilk is willing to tear it all down for the sake of destroying PV and the crew, but to say that it lacks depth is hmm... missing the nuanced layers that make up Shadow Milk. A lot of it is in the subtext for English, while it feels more open and out there for the other language dubs. But if you consider the context, then it's very easy to come to the same conclusions just by thinking hard and analysing the text.
(On a voice acting performance note because I am a yapper, it's interesting how the other dubs has him screaming in pure rage, while the English dub has him screaming with rage, yes, but there is also that underlying layer of sadness as if he's struggling to fight back tears. I like it a lot. It helps to humanise him a little bit which I think Devsisters wants to do since his Korean VA keeps saying how we should take care of him etcetc... )
Yesss you get what I am putting down. I think CJ's rendition of Shadow Milk's crashout makes him easier to sympathise with because it genuinely feels so real. While there is genuine anger in Kang Soo-jin's Shadow Milk (and wow holy crap), I don't think it's fair to compare the two because they are both different takes on the same scene.
CJ: Anger, underlying sadness -> a representation of that facade breaking just this once. Does humanise him a little bit because it feels realistic and raw.
Kang Soo-jin + all the other dubs: Anger -> a representation of his fragile emotional state. A great way to show just how explosive he is.
At the end of the day, it's really up to personal preference which version of Shadow Milk you like but let's not say that English Shadow Milk does not have depth too.
