Heyyyy everyone (the 3.5 people who give a shit)!!!
My name is Alisa, I am a MINOR so do with that info as you want 🫶 My pronouns are she/her although I couldnt care less, and I am very much taken by this @wagar123 beautiful beautiful boy 💕
My own posts should be tagged with "#heaven knows stuff" since I reblogs every other post that I see.
Having taken stock of the situation, it's not as bad as I originally thought. It's not like these crocodilians are an urgent problem, much less a representation of my own mortality. There's no ticking clock here.
For anyone confused about why this "sweet ad" is actually evil:
ring is passing the surveillance they collect to ice
ring is using these ID features to search for/identify people that ice wants to deport/kidnap/disappear, & using it to spy on Americans in general.
This ad is the company's gross & sneaky attempt to appeal to humans' kindness [ I'll be helping people find their pets!" ]
They are trying to trick more people into buying this tool that will be used as surveillance on people living in the USA
AND~!!!
also probably trying to trick people into turning on features/settings that will make it easier for them to pass information to ice and other hostile governmental authorities
I called this ad propaganda the second I saw it and my dad got annoyed with me. Excuse me for not wanting to live in a fucking surveillance state. It’s too late. My parents already have a camera. But at least the street isn’t visible because we have fence around the front yard. People walking by are safe. They would have to come all the way up the driveway to be seen. But still.
New Deltarune Theory: The Shelter is NOT what you think it is... it’s WORSE…..
This is the Depths.
When you think about it, we actually know very little about it. Almost nothing about it is confirmed besides the fact that the voice (which is most likely Gaster) resides here and that its name suggests it’s below the surface.
Now both of those things undoubtably connect to the shelter: It plays Gaster/garbage noise and it leads underground. This makes sense, right?
Yeah, it does. But I have an alternative explanation that could explain EVERYTHING.
This… is the DESS DIED AND WENT TO HELL THEORY.
(I will be following the theory that Dess is the Knight for this theory. I have been for a while now)
Part 1: The Sea
Ever notice the water themes of this game? There’s wave sounds when we fall to the cliffs in chapter 1. We seal dark fountains. Jevil’s quote “HELL’S ROAR BUBBLES FROM THE DEPTHS”. And Weirdly enough, Deltarune and Undertale both mention a song in the sea.
The sea is clearly a major part of Deltarune’s narrative. But why?
Because… this is where the Depths is. Well, underneath it anyway.
How do I know this? The background is literally a distorted picture of a sea.
People seem to generally agree that this takes place in the shelter as a special form of dark world. Here’s an interesting question though: What if it wasn’t? What if the Depths was more than just a dark world?
What if it was a world underneath the sea?
And read what prophecy from Chapter 4 says about it:
“A WORLD BASKED IN PUREST LIGHT, BENEATH IT GREW ETERNAL NIGHT”
We know this is the Depths because it’s described to be beneath the light world. As in, it’s not exactly a dark world. It’s literally the underworld. Hell.
This is why you can hear the garbage noises in Noelle’s basement. It seems random at first, but it’s likely that this happens because the further you go down, the closer you are to the Depths. This also goes for the shelter.
This proves that the garbage noises doesn’t necessarily mean that Gaster is in the shelter. It just means that it’s close to his location.
This wouldn’t be the first time Gaster is tied to water. In Undertale, the River Person mentions a lot of potential Gaster information. We can also find the Mystery Man in Waterfall.
From Jevil’s quote, we can assume that the Depths will be this game’s equivalent to Hell. So, if Gaster is the Devil (because he has themes of the Devil), then where is hell? Underneath the sea.
This correlates directly with dark fountains. You have course enough determination into a blade and stab the earth to pull one. Fountains are geysers, so that means we’re pulling these somewhere from the sea. The Depths, which would be under the earth as described.
The deep sea is known for being incredibly dark after all, so this explains why dark worlds are… well, dark! Think of it like this: Water is to the Depths the same way fire is to Hell.
This doesn’t necessarily mean Gaster is just living with fishes. It’s obviously separate from the regular ocean. Or maybe it has fish Darkners. I don’t know.
But this does mean something interesting: The shelter wasn’t always a dark world; It became one when the Knight opened the shelter. Which brings me to my next point
Part 2: What Really Happened to Dess
So if Gaster is in the ocean, and the shelter wasn’t a dark world until now, then what really happened to Dess? She couldn’t have been in the shelter dark world the entire time if it didn’t exist yet.
Before I answer that, we have to read the voice in the code for a minute:
Chapter 1:
"Where..."
"Where am I?"
"Hello...? Anyone...?"
"Is... is anybody out there...?"
"Someone!? Anyone!? Can anyone hear me!?"
"..."
"It's dark."
"It's so dark here."
"Someone, anyone, if you can hear me..."
"Say something... please..."
Chapter 2:
"No one can hear me, can they...?"
"I guess not."
"To be honest, I'm not even sure if I can hear myself."
"It's so quiet here..."
"... and yet, sometimes,"
"I swear I hear something..."
"Something like... scratching?"
Chapter 3:
"What is this place, anyway...?"
"How did I get here?"
"... as if I haven't asked that question a billion times already."
"I..."
"I always did have that nightmare."
"Walking into the darkness,"
"With the light shining from the doorway..."
"Then the door slams behind me."
"And everything goes black."
"... is this that nightmare?"
"... or was everything else a dream?"
Chapter 4:
"I'm starting to lose track of the time."
"Has it been days? Hours?"
"If someone told me it's been years, I might believe them..."
"Before, the sun came up,"
"And so many wonderful things happened that made time meaningful."
"Things like breakfast, or late night TV..."
"In this place,"
"I don't eat or drink anymore."
"I can't tell if I'm awake or dreaming."
"I can't even tell if I'm dead or alive."
"It's just nothing but pitch black silence."
"... except for the noise."
"The scratching noise I sometimes hear..."
"This sounds crazy, but even though no one can hear me,"
"When I hear that noise, I feel like someone's listening."
"Anyone, if you're there... thank you."
Let’s recontextualize some things. Notice how she questions how she got there. No recall of the shelter or anything. That’s not the only detail that should be noted either…
She doesn’t eat or drink, and even says that she can’t tell if she’s dead or alive. That sounds really close to the afterlife, right? Well that brings me to this…
What if Dess actually drowned in the sea and accidentally entered the Depths? In other words, what if she literally died and went to Hell. Gaster’s fate (Except he fell into his own creation I guess).
Let’s read the Prophecy from Chapter 4 again. It’s safe to assume that this voice was trapped in the Depths. It certainly sounds close to an “eternal night”.
If she drowned and accidentally entered another world, that would simultaneously explain why nobody can find her body and why it traumatized Kris and Noelle. Maybe Kris watched her drown and failed to get their dad (a former cop) in time. This could also explain why they seem to have implied survivor’s guilt.
Thing is, Dess didn’t exactly “die”. If she’s the Knight, how could she? She was clearly revived… maybe not completely, but still.
So if she entered the Depths, she definitely met Gaster at some point. Maybe she learned of Dark Worlds from him. Maybe she even sold her SOUL to him to be brought back to the Light World (he is the Devil after all) and create them?
This could explain everything about the Knight’s feats. For one, they’re strong enough to drag UNDYNE all the way to the shelter. They even laugh when Susie suggests that they could beat them in the Light World. They’re some kind of demon Lightner. Probably a Wendigo. They’re strong in both worlds. Susie had it the other way around: The heroes have no chance at beating her in the light world.
Don’t get me wrong, this is a crazy pull, but it kind of makes sense doesn’t it?
Still, the Knight does retreat to the shelter at the end of Chapter 3. So we know that’s where they currently reside.
So if the Ocean is the Depths, what the hell is Dess doing in the shelter? More importantly, what kind of Dark World is even the Shelter?
Part 3: ANGEL’S HEAVEN
So the shelter finally got introduced to the main story at the end of Chapter 3. So now know that the Knight is hiding things in there.
There’s clearly a dark world in there. One that’s much darker than the other ones at that. If we’re assuming this isn’t the Depths, then what dark world is in there? Heh, well I have the answer…
In Chapter 4, Alphys says that the shelter is “A place for people to survive an emergency”. Basically it’s a storm shelter. Why is this important? Because there is a storm that we know the Knight is planning to start very, very soon.
It makes sense that the shelter Dark World is planned to be used when the Roaring happens.
Obviously there’s more to it though. If that was really the end-goal, they would have started the Roaring by now. So they must be doing something important in the shelter first.
Notice how the Knight is always busy in there. They’ve been using Kris and others to stall for them. Instead of just immediately creating the church Fountain or taking Toriel. What are they even doing? Sculpting?
That might be close, actually. Remember when Ralsei mentioned an “Angel’s Heaven” when he told the Legend?
This is what the Knight is creating in the shelter.
Hear me out. The name itself implies that it will be a perfect world for the Angel. So what if Dess is trying to create the “perfect world” for the Angel before she starts the Roaring?
And it’s not like we have a better idea on where Angel’s Heaven could be. This might be our best bet. You’re probably asking, “Why would Dess be trying so hard to create a heaven for the Angel”?
Because the Angel… is her sister. Or at least, she represents one.
Of course, we already know this. Noelle wears a white cloak. She’s tied to angel wings a lot. Sweepstakes and her closet both tie her to tattered wings in specific. Not to mention this story:
It’s important to say all this because Dess being the Knight compliments Noelle being an Angel compliments the shelter being the Angel’s Heaven.
The Knight wants to create the perfect world for her sister. Meaning they’re planning on dragging her there at some point… When the Roaring happens.
Think about it, what form of escapism is the shelter? An escape from the outside world. It’s the second step after the Roaring. First, destroy the outside world. Then trap Noelle (and possibly other loved ones) in the shelter to be safe in a perfect world forever. A world where it can snow whenever she wants.
Conclusion
That’s why I think the shelter is the Angel’s Heaven. I still think it’s possible that it could be the Depths, but… does it have to be?
After all, most of us assumed the guy contacting the secret bosses was Gaster. Without question. Nowadays, Mike is the more likely candidate for that. So this is a possible shift. We don’t know everything about this game. Especially what happens at the end. So this is a shift that could totally happen.
Do I sound like JaruJaruj making all this up? Maybe a little, but still, it’s fun.
