Anyways to follow up on a post I made a while ago, I've been a trans woman for about a decade now and I haven't played Fallout: New Vegas or own the programmer socks and I don't have a Blahaj. I do have a whale shark plushie but that's because whale sharks are really cool. I've never bought a Bionacle. I do play card games. That's on me I suppose, but I started that before I was trans so I never really saw that as anything other than a funny quirk.
I've never been made to feel lesser as a trans woman for having not had any of those experiences. Meanwhile there's like a million different artists and movies and TV shows you're just kind of expected to be into if you're queer and people will give you weird looks if you don't show interest or don't like them. (By far the weirdest of these is Hocus Pocus). I think if you want to make a point about consumerism in the queer community, you gotta start from the fact that queer community is pretty consumerist. If you're starting from trans women in particular I'm just going to think you're being a prick.
sometimes you hate a specific person for very valid reasons and the next time you hear about them it's a photo of them not masking in public.
Sometimes a small piece can tell a very big story… a story I wish I never had to live. Every day, I carry memories that changed my life forever, but I’m still trying to hold on and keep going.
My name is Omama and I am creating this page on behalf of my friend Hazem who lives in Gaza, Palestine.
I’m not asking for the impossible… just a chance to live. My pain is bigger than me, but your support could keep me going. If you can help, don’t wait… you might be my last hope.
Chuffed 🙏🫂

The organizer of Hazem's verified GoFundMe campaign is not able to continue running it, so Hazem has set up a new Chuffed campaign. Hazem lost his whole family in Gaza and needs our help to rebuild his life. Please help him!
i dont think lolcows are funny. i dont think its funny to make fun of people. chris chan, birdie, idc. it never comes from a place of genuine criticism and is always just a way to bully people who are deemed less than human, to easily get away with being a jackass
nobody should be as heavily documented on the internet as some of these people are, its an invasion of privacy, and more often than not, stems from bigotry of some sort
if you genuinly engage in lolcowing then i dont trust you. as an autistic person, if you find that funny, then i dont trust you. ill just assume im next
idk i just feel like "it is more acceptable and in fact encouraged to mock anything enjoyed primarily by women" and "being enjoyed primarily by women does not make thing feminist and righteous" are thoughts that can and should coexist
oh and also "even if the thing is bad your criticism of it can come from a place of patronising misogyny"
among my least favourite conversations i regularly experience in media analysis is when you interpret something as potentially alluding to an "uncomfortable" topic and people immediately start trying to defang it. "this reads like a rape scene" "umm actually it's not rape, it's just a very intimate act of violent assault that violates the victim's sense of safety and bodily autonomy with NO 🙅 sexual connotations or elements". you do realise that's neither any better nor functionally different, right?
"this relationship resembles a traditional abusive marriage between a husband and wife" "well they're not married or heterosexual so you're wrong and an insane bigot for comparing them to such a horrible thing also" HAVE YOU NEVER HEARD OF A FUCKING METAPHOR???

What about the two at the bottom?

it's kind of crazy how utterly assimilated the LGBT movement is into liberal politics and how much it aligns itself with the logics of capitalism, to the point where it's not even a proper political movement anymore, it's a Community® now that is held together with various commodified identiy signifiers. we have to make five billion flags and micro-labels (to make more flags) and buy Gay Product and consume Designated Gay Media* and support Queer Business as the pinnacle of activism. we need to get the stupid shark plushie, made by the company that is actively helping the rapid destruction of old growth forests in my home country, and make it part of our identiy. buy your identity in stores today!
and that's not even mentioning the role of assimilated LGBT politics in aiding imperialism accross the world. all of these western-backed NGOs in various countries, sucking up any local gay and trans politics into a black hole of hand-me-down politics from the US. and how many western gays AREN'T homonationalists when it comes down to it? how many western gays haven't said some line about the homophobic muslims or russians or whoever is the target at the time? how many haven't aspired to prove their worth by joining the imperialist war machine?
and all that... and yet gay and trans people are still treated like dogshit in the west. any minuscule progress made is quickly reversed at a moments notice. trans women are still the laughingstock and boogeyman of the western world.
we cannot liberate ourselves with aesthetics and commodity consumption and supporting the correct businesses and occasionally voting for a liberal politician. we cannot create a useful model for gay and trans politics through liberal idealism. we need a materialist and internationalist approach. desperately.
*the Designated Gay Media in question also almost always some bullshit produced in the US that has a complete absence of transfem characters or has very obvious transmisogynistic caricatures
what’s the most devastating song that comes to mind? like you’re on the verge of tears listening to it
god forbid trans women who have been targeted and had their lives fucked up by meaningless callouts be skeptical of other callouts targeting trans women lmao, this is not an "accountability issue in the trans community" because you guys think accountability means harassing trans women off the internet over baseless claims

the fact that generative A.I. has created a completely new fundamental doubt in reality (checking to see if an artwork we see is manmade or not) and doubt in the instinct of enjoying art is unforgivable. its sickeningly tragic, and i mean it. NOTHING is worth this price and i hope that everyone will one day realize this.
this problem is easily solvable by not giving a shit and judging art by its actual content lol
the fact that photography has created a completely new fundamental doubt in reality (you get the bit do i have to copy all the text?)
