just be yourself and don’t care about what other people think! Why would you care about what other people think about you?
(DISCLAIMER: what other people think about you will determine every aspect of your support network, your ability to get housing and employment, the quality of your medical care, how you are treated by the legal system, and how likely people will be to sic the police on you for violating social norms.)
hey, listen, I get where you’re coming from but I don’t think this one is capitalism’s fault. I really don’t think capitalism is responsible for the general concept of social ostracism. We can’t just use capitalism to mean “bad thing-ism” we gotta remember that some words mean things

You gotta watch this one the whole way through.
nobody ever talks about how selfless it is to choose, over and over again, to not commit suicide. nobody ever acknowledges the tremendous sacrifice suicidal people make every time we choose not to kill ourselves. when a person who is suffering so horribly that death seems like their best option decides not to take their one way out, and to instead remain in hell, day after day, year after year, because they don’t want to hurt the people they love, they are doing something extraordinary. not killing yourself when it’s all you want to do is the purest act of love i can imagine. dying for someone is easy – you don’t have to deal with any of the consequences, you have your moment of nobility and then it’s all over. but living for someone, when the simple fact of consciousness is literal torture for you? every single suicidal person who ever made a choice to not kill themselves in a moment of misery is a goddamn hero in my eyes. wanting to die and still surviving is an act of titanic courage and self-sacrifice. we deserve more credit for it.

"it would be so good if it was good" will haunt you but "it's extremely good, except for the one or two parts which are so bad it's genuinely kind of insulting" will straight up drive you insane
one has you making posts like "okay but if the author UNDERSTOOD the POLITICAL IMPLICATIONS of the story they were telling, and leaned into it, it would actually be a really interesting exploration of..."
the other has you pacing your bedroom at one in the morning going "why. why would you ever in a million years do it like that. genuinely what possible thought process was involved. was the writer possessed by a fucking ghost or something."
7 states are attempting to rule section 504 unconstitutional. section 504 of the rehabilitation act is the bill that means disabled people have public access, including attending public schools and existing in public. if this is declared unconstitutional, the rehabilitation act and the ADA itself will be heavily weakened and likely later contested, and disabled people will be far more explicitly segregated and denied access to education and public transportation. prior to the rehabilitation act and section 504, the ugly laws were in place in many municipalities that made it so it was illegal for physically disabled people to exist in public
in addition, because section 504 relied heavily on the civil rights act and on racial desegregation of schools in order to pass, if section 504 is declared unconstitutional, it will also weaken the civil rights act and brown v board of education and will give precedent toward explicit racial segregation regardless of ability
regardless of location you must advocate for section 504. if you live in alaska, florida, kansas, louisiana, missouri, montana, or texas, contact your representatives and tell them they need to pull out of texas v kennedy. this is a decision that can very likely fast track the USA back into a pre civil rights era for all marginalized groups
This page explains what the lawsuit Texas v. Kennedy (previously Texas v. Becerra) is, how Texas v. Kennedy threatens Section 504, and why S
