HIXTAPE or Just Another Mixtape? 🤔

With only days to go before March 2nd the long awaited release of Hixtape, the forthcoming tracklist from BTS’ own Jung Hoseok, what can we expect after the small sneak peek we have been allowed thus far, more uplifting, youthful dance beats or something more reminiscent of the groups collective mindset?

Comparisons will be drawn with the last stand out solo project from a group member, the self titled Agust D in 2016, an introspective and deeply personal odyssey through the mind of a man not quite at the peak of his potential, ever reaching and heady. Or the much acclaimed western success of leader Kim Namjoon’s own creation, arguably the ultimate collection of old soul musings set to deep baselines and difficult philosophical concepts.

With his vibrant and sunshine like personality and mood setting charm, one has to be interested in not just what he is known for, but the other side of the individual that Jung himself doesn’t regularly show, the natural darkness and sadness present within each human psyche, and how that plays into his development as an artist and probable future producer.

It would certainly be a fascinating departure from the uplifting and bubble gum sounds of worldwide kpop over the last 5 years, to introduce young listeners to his own more tough and hard edge hip-hop influences so lacking in the modern sound scape in an era which is ruled over by acts like Migos and Cardi B, will this latest work bring something of that 90’s feel from which he originates, or simply another Millenial bop?

Yoongi x Reader x Jimin Smut (Pt.1)

chapter one: lust

Tonight like most nights you woke up on top of the covers next to your best friend, the clattering of Seokjin in the kitchen having stirred you, followed by a loud smashing sound and Namjoon’s voice cursing “Shit!”. “Joonie!” Seokjin scolded, at the end of his tether. There were lazy footsteps and a door shutting with a creak.

You shook your head. He’s a man, its normal for him to wake up like this, you told yourself, even though this was the first time you’d ever felt him push his hips against you.

You left him quietly, peeking around the door into the kitchen, just Seokjin and Jimin. Seokjin was busy with a bubbling pot of ramyun on the stove, tendrils of steam curling into his face as he mixed homemade kimchi simultaneously, the smell made your mouth water. Jimin helped to chop onions on an adjacent work surface, his back turned to you, strange. You went to the cupboard. “Seokjin, I’m stealing a snack.” You said innocently. “Don’t eat too much, or you won’t want dinner.” He warned, smiling across at you.

You opened the cupboard, spotting a small pack of chocolates, as you moved to get them Jimin reached over you, his chest brushing your back as he took down a bowl in which to discard the onions, his ample bicep tensing as he did. You smelled the tang of his deodorant and cologne and your body immediately flushed with heat. “Sorry.” He said, smiling cheekily.

“Its, its fine.” You laughed, why was it so uneasy today? You opened the pack and threw a couple of sweets into your mouth. “Can I have one?” Jimin asked, as usual wherever food went Jimin was over someone’s shoulder anticipating bits of it like a pup. “Sure.” You said, seeing his hands still busy. You brought a chocolate up to his mouth and he opened up, taking it from your fingers. You watched with no breath in your body as his plump lips closed around the tip of your index finger, the edge of his wet tongue licking against your sensitive pad of skin as his deep, sweet eyes bored into yours without mercy.

Seokjin’s unholy clattering of utensils abruptly popped the bubble you’d both found yourselves in, you inhaled deeply, realising you no longer had any oxygen. You turned quickly, going into the living room, leaning on the door to steady yourself as you shut it. Namjoon and Tae gave you the weirdest look, as if you’d grown another head. “Are you okay?” Tae asked.

Over the ensuing weeks more and more you would find Jimin throwing himself down onto the couch next to you, his grasp lingering too long on the remote as he took it from you, gentle hands brushing your waist as he passed you in the kitchen, catching him staring at you across the table when you stayed for dinner, always in the kitchen as you left Yoongi’s room, his brows knitting together as he scanned you every time. Before long harmless frission had become secret touches, his hands on your thighs when you were alone in the living room, near kisses, breathless with your foreheads leaning together, afraid of discovery, holding hands when no-one was looking, luxuriating as his touch played with yours.

None of the Boy’s knew and if Yoongi did he didn’t seem to care, but why should he? He let you go and you both exited the lift, walking to the point by the door where you usually said a quick goodbye, pretending everything was normal. “Well, bye, I guess.” You said, you knew he saw the disappointment in your eyes though you were smiling. “No.” He said, taking your hand and pulling you around a corner out of view of the front desk, backing you up against the wall. “I won’t let you go.” He whispered, his liquid gold voice becoming deeper as you’d never heard before, it almost rumbled in your chest. Without warning he claimed your mouth. His lips moved against yours and his hands cradling your face as you softened against him, reciprocating his tender kisses, allowing him to deepen them, relishing the way his breath ripped through his nostrils when you took his bottom lip between your teeth. He slipped his tongue into your mouth, moaning at the sensation of wet muscle on wet muscle, savouring each others taste.

Making your way home your phone started ringing loudly, echoing in the quiet streets.

The caller ID read Yoongi, so you picked up quickly. “Are you okay?” He asked before you could speak. “Wh- What? Why?” You asked, almost laughing giddily. He paused. “I just, no reason.” He said. “I’m fine, you don’t have to worry.” You said, meaning it, the trembling of your hands fading away. “I always worry. The call bothered you as you got into your apartment, in an impossible way that you couldn’t quite name. You shrugged it off, as you threw off your coat. It didn’t matter if you’d waited for Yoongi to notice you as more than a sister, it didn’t matter that your heart had curled up and died in his arms when you knew for a fact that he had fucked other girls the same day. Seeing Jimin wasn’t betrayal, it didn’t have to mean anything, you lied to yourself, your stomach clenching painfully.

MY SECRET ILLNESS + APOLOGY 🚑

The first time it happened I felt like I was going to die, like all the strength had drained from my body. Like I had walked into a wall of bricks I couldn’t push through. I prided myself on handling everything, no matter how hellish, no matter how I suffered, no illness I couldn’t come back from, no emotional destruction I couldn’t rebuild. Coming from an emotionally abusive family my survival has always been my highest priority, I always thought of myself as a one woman army. For the first time I’d ever experienced I had nothing left to give, nothing left in my body or spirit, my limbs which were strong just a day before, numb, tingling, aching, almost lifeless. I couldn’t get up, couldn’t walk, couldn’t make my own food, the personal freedoms which I’d held so dear were taken away overnight, I couldn’t go out, couldn’t see my friends. I had never felt young, yet I now knew what it was to feel hundreds of years old, to feel every suffering you’ve ever endured fall down on top of you until it caves in the protective dome you’ve built over your head. My brain was lost in a dark fog searching for answers, was it cancer? Deficiency? Flu? How could a healthy young person become life an ailing grandparent that fast?

After working for three years on a First Class Honours degree in Creative Writing I crashed and stayed down for three months, the remainder of summer spent with my time divided between the sofa and my bed, unable to get around, still unsure of my condition. Its difficult to express the sincere opinion that, umm, excuse me, I feel like I might die and my life is ruined, I’m an unemployed 22 year old women who is highly qualified with a good body and my looks intact who cant even get up and walk around.

Before I knew it the deadline for the Masters degree course I so wanted had passed twice over, my ability to work on resumes or even go out to deliver them had also gone to shit, each time I began to feel stronger and improve slightly with healthy foods and supplements to combat fatigue once again my toxic family would appear and destroy my progress until I felt ill once again.

In my darkest moments thoughts edged my periphery whispering that nothing would ever get better, this was life now. No hope. No way to fight. I had no more tolerance for my relatives poisonous ways, I knew why people ran away and lived on the streets. Because it was better than what I had dealt with my whole life, it was better than looking cruelty in the face and pretending to smile. After spending 22 years fighting demons I had finally encountered one which could not be taken by force. My illness.

With each relapse back into severe and debilitating exhaustion my recovery time was noticeably decreasing, I could go from feeling like I was running at 5% energy to 50% (which was as good as it got), and although my latest episode caused me to miss my own graduation ceremony and remain bed ridden, I finally went in search of answers.

I had all the signs and symptoms of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, finally it had a name, this rock tied to my leg, weighing me down as I paddled for my life every day, just to keep from going under. Finally there were books, therapy options, nutrition, correct supplements, finally a label I could give to my doctor in the hope of treatment.

The moment my doctor diagnosed me with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (also known as M.E or Myalgic encephalomyelitis) I held back my tears. Just to feel less alone, less muffled in deep black night, I wanted to spill every ounce of truth, that I survived Narcissistic emotional abuse, that I wanted rehab, that I needed a reason to hope.

Since then I have been looking after myself and taking daily walks as advised medically, I promised to myself that I would get the help I need and begin volunteering until I can finally apply for the publishing jobs I am qualified for.

Today was the day that I finally became quietly determined, to do what’s best for me, to live healthier and live BIG in spite of my illness, I can no longer sit here and watch the world go by in a flash, after all, I could be sick for many years, but why should that stop me dressing like the diva I always was? Why should it stop me having fun, going to eat with friends? Travelling to the places I’ve always dreamed of. Even if I have to be wheeled through Hongdae in a chair I won’t stop living, won’t let this defeat me. My dreams haven’t changed, it is simply that the way to them has changed direction, and so must I.

APOLOGY

For so long I have felt guilty, like I betrayed you, I created this blog with professional intention, to bring you beautiful well told stories that you might snuggle up in bed at night reading, to explore fantasies and romance. I couldn’t work on all the ideas I had, Hobie Heaven, my personal twitter and my news blog went to waste and I let a lot of people down, alot of people who actually ask me where I am when I disappear. No more will I let my aims go to waste.

He shifted uncomfortably, pretending to be asleep. You hit him in the arm playfully. “Tae!” you urged. “Alright. I, wanted to do this tonight.” He said, waiting for your response. You pretended to be offended. “And what made you think I would go for that?!” You beamed. He turned you over to look up at him, kissing you lovingly, taking your bottom lip between his teeth. “Because you’re mine.”
