College ‘Diversity Council’ Admits to Posting Fake Racist Flyers On Campus

The Diversity Leadership Council at Gustavus Adolphus College admits that it — with the help of other social-justice groups — planted fake racist flyers on campus “to educate” people about racism. The flyers, according to a photo obtained by Campus Reform, stated: A NOTICE TO ALL WHITE AMERICANS IT IS YOUR CIVIC DUTY TO REPORT ANY AND ALL ILLEGAL ALIENS TO U.S. IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT THEY ARE CRIMINALS AMERICA IS A WHITE NATION Obviously, these flyers caused a huge uproar among the school’s students and alumni — only for Dean of Students Jones VanHecke to later announce that they were “part of a series of educational ‘invisible theater’ events taking place this week that have been planned by I Am We Are theater troupe, the Diversity Leadership Team, and the Bystander Intervention Committee.” On Monday, the Diversity Leadership Council published a Facebook post explaining that it had posted the fake flyers to “promote, preserve, and protect on-campus diversity” and “to help educate our peers and campus community about issues of bias, and the importance of being an active bystander.” “We want to help put an end to bias-related incidents that happen on our campus, social media, and in our communities by forcing individuals to have dialogues about forms of hate and bias,” the post stated. Hey, kids? If you want to “help put an end to bias-related incidents that happen on our campus,” how about you address those incidents instead of distracting from them by making up a fake one? Seriously — just what is bringing awareness to a fake issue going to solve? It’s not going to help solve that issue, because — and sorry if I’m blowing your mind here — a problem has to actually exist in order for you to be able to solve it. These groups’ little stunt wasn’t merely stupid; it also has the potential to create long-term harm. Now, I am not sure exactly what kinds of “bias-related incidents” are happening on that campus, but I do know that there being people on campus who felt so strongly that only white people should live in America that they were running around posting “AMERICA IS A WHITE NATION” flyers to help achieve that would be a serious one indeed. Presumably, this fake incident is on a completely different level from anything that is actually happening on that campus, which means that any “dialogues” related to it are on a completely different level, too. No doubt, these flyers must have left a lot of people feeling freaked out and threatened based on a false issue, all for the sake of having a discussion about something that didn’t even exist — and that’s about as disgusting as it gets. These groups’ little stunt wasn’t merely stupid; it also has the potential to create long-term harm. For one, it likely has hurt the school’s reputation. There are almost certainly people who heard only the news about the flyers, and not that the flyers turned out to be a hoax. What’s more, it may actually hinder these groups’ aim of achieving racial justice on campus. Going forward, any actual bias incidents may be looked at more skeptically. People’s knee-jerk response to future incidents might not be to become outraged, but to remember how the last incident turned out to be a hoax. Think about it: What if someone had, “to educate” the campus about rape culture and sexual assault, posted a bunch of fake flyers around campus saying that rape is okay? Do you think that that would make people want to talk about rape culture more seriously? Would any “dialogue” that might have happened because of those signs actually help a victim of assault in the future? The answer to that is an obvious “no.” The truth is, there is no better way to encourage people to dismiss your cause than to do something in the name of it that they can rightfully dismiss. — Katherine Timpf is a reporter for National Review Online.

I keep thinking how much more powerful the Spiderman origin story would be if Peter Parker was an African American kid, whose Uncle Ben was shot by police while being arrested for a minor parking infraction. There is no formal investigation, and Peter decides to put himself on the line to prevent it happening again. He tackles the white crimes that go unpunished, punishes POC criminals fairly. This not only mirrors so much of what’s happening in America, but feeds right into the complex relationship between Spiderman, the authorities and the media. 

Peter Parker is a brilliant student, awkward, a nerd, but is branded a thug, a gang member, a criminal, because of his appearance. The media latch on to that and misrepresent him totally.

The police, humilitated by the fact that he refuses to work with them and often punishes cops themselves for brutalizing innocent people, or guilty people who still deserve better treatment than they get, attempt to hunt him down.

I was thrilled to pieces when I saw this scene. Disney could have written Gideon off like some bully character who never really amounted to anything, or got what was coming to him like a lot of those characters do in their movies.  Gideon made something of himself. He’s a pastry chef, something that’s not traditionally a job for men in media. And as soon as Judy speaks to him, he immediately apologizes to her. He doesn’t try to shrug it off as no big deal, or say that it was just boys being boys or whatever; he knows he hurt her, and he owns up to it. And Judy immediately forgives him.

Seriously??? He hurt her so badly that she has a compulsive fear of his entire species, plus other symptoms of PTSD (impulsiveness, intense need to be seen as productive/effective, trouble sleeping in new environment, paranoia). She was forced into contact with him without even asking her, in a situation where she had to fear her parents would take his side over hers, especially since she was already having self-esteem and trust issues. He falls back on the cultural myth that childhood is somehow drastically distinct from adulthood, wording his apology in such a way that if she doesn’t accept that he’s a ‘new person’ now, then she’s the jerk. If he really cared, then he would immediately remove himself from her environment after apologizing, even if she accepted it, and not place himself in her presence again without her (not her parents’) explicit invitation.

All making him a baker does is reinforce the cultural notion that feminine things are non-threatening, an idea that only has salience because we treat femininity and feminine people as weak and fragile.

Not only is this bitter beyond belief, it’s almost completely inaccurate. Judy was not traumatized into fearing the entire species of foxes. She explicitly told her fox racist parents that Gideon was just one fox who happened to be a jerk and she didn’t hold that against the entire species. She does has some residual inner prejudice against foxes but that’s to be expected when you’ve been raised to distrust them your entire life. She quickly overcame that prejudice and had compassion on what she thought was Nick and his child.

LAWSUIT: Female rapes disabled student then gets him expelled, university fires his dad - The College Fix

Trustee dumped by Drake University after privately pleading his son's case.

‘Conflict of interest’ for trustee to plead his son’s case

A private university in Iowa violated state law and its own rules by firing a trustee for defending his disabled son against a kangaroo-court investigation, according to a federal lawsuit filed by the father last month.

Tom Rossley, who served 23 years on Drake University’s board before his July dismissal, accused the school of failing to accommodate his son’s “ADHD, anxiety, and language-based learning disabilities” in the sexual-assault investigation.

Drake also refused to investigate the son’s claims that the female student who accused him had initiated the sex when he was incapacitated, as alleged in a December lawsuit filed on the son’s behalf.

Dubbed a “first-of-its-kind Title IX retaliation case” by Rossley’s lawyer, who is also representing the son, the lawsuit claims Drake violated its trustee’s First Amendment rights after Rossley continued to argue internally that Drake had discriminated against his son.

He was ‘not able to give consent that night’

Drake pursued an investigation against the son after a female student filed a sexual-assault complaint against him in October 2015. He was expelled four months later.

According to the son’s pseudonymous lawsuit, the two had engaged in oral sex and possibly intercourse. He gave a different account of the evening’s events, alleging that both were heavily intoxicated but the female initiated oral sex on him.

While it’s not clear how far things escalated that night, the son’s suit claims he was “not in a state to be with her” and “not able to give consent that night.” The accuser conceded “on the record” during a later Title IX hearing that she initiated sex without his consent, according to the father’s suit.

Despite the dueling claims, only the son was subject to an investigation. Drake termed his own allegations against the female “retaliatory.”

‘Comfort rooms’ for accuser’s family, nothing for Rossleys

During the course of the investigation and despite several pleas from Rossley, his son was denied accommodations for his disabilities, which include “word retrieval” impairments, the suit claims.

In a nine-hour hearing, Drake “forced” the son “to be his own advocate and act as his own legal representative … despite knowing full well” about his language disability, it says.

The university kept Rossley out of his son’s hearing, and gave him and his wife “fewer accommodations while simultaneously offering comfort rooms” for the female student’s family.

Following a handful of Rossley’s emailed complaints to the university, alleging the investigation violated his son’s due process and Title IX, the father was told to be quiet and his fellow trustees told to avoid “discussion of the issues” that he had raised.

‘Silenced and covered up’ a whistleblower

Five days after being asked not to speak on the subject, Rossley agreed not to publicly speak about the Title IX investigation, according to the lawsuit.

But the board chair still asked him to resign, and by June the entire board started trying to remove Rossley for “conflict of interest,” but kept failing to reach the two-thirds majority vote required for removal. He was finally removed July 19.

The trustees violated state regulations in removing Rossley, failing to give him 15 days’ written notice of termination and five days’ notice to address the board “orally, or in writing,” the suit claims.

Rossley lawyer Andrew Miltenberg, who has represented dozens of male college students found responsible for sexual misconduct, said Drake “effectively silenced and covered up” the father’s complaints about his son’s treatment while failing to remedy its own “numerous lawless actions.”

Officials “purposefully ignored and failed to investigate” the disabled student’s “numerous pleas for help after he was sexually assaulted by a female student,” simply because he was male, Miltenberg said in the press release.

Title IX hast to have become the biggest joke in academics. Also, something being safer than other options doesn’t make it safe.  An average of 280 significant pipeline breakages happen in oil pipelines a year.  Even that incomplete list I used last year had over 625,000 gallons of oil being spilt in just a handful of incidents.

Other hard data presents that every year significant pipeline events occur at a rate of almost one a day costing between hundreds of millions and billions of dollars every year in just lost oil  sales.  This isn’t including pipeline malfunctions, situations that easily could develop into significant events, which would roughly double the numbers to being about one every 12-14 hours.  Between 7 and 38 people die each year and between 50 and 110 people are injured.

So between 350 and 700 incidents every year over 72,000 miles of pipe.  In the first two months of 2017 we’ve already spilt 322,000 gallons of crude oil in just three incidents (Ozark Pipeline for ~15k, Magellen Midstream partners for ~140k, Seaway Pipeline for 168k).  In two months an equivalent of 4.5 gallons for every mile were spilt in just three incidents.

Promises of “This one will be safe, we promise!” are hollow promises as well, since that was the exact line used to push the Keystone XL Pipeline before it too had an oil spill last year, spilling 17,000 gallons.

Buddha Statues’ Heads: What it actually means.

Yesterday, I went shopping at Homegoods with my mom for some interior decorations and a few gifts. And what do you know: Buddha’s heads, either in brass and sold as “antique” or dipped in bright neon paint. My mom shook her head in disapproval and laughed. This really got my mind thinking that shoppers have literally no clue what these statues’ heads are really about.

This really got my mind thinking about that Thai movie “Ong-Bak“ about how a group of thieves decapitated a Buddha statue’s head  & how a Muay Thai skilled warrior volunteered to return it before it is sold in the black market. Cutting off that religious statue’s head is seen as an act of vandalism & violence. It is one of the utmost disrespectful marks one could do in the religion. The original heads were stolen from respected places of worship. Cutting off Buddha statues’ heads have been happening for who-knows-how-long originally by greedy thieves.

And now they are replicated into fashion statements or interior decorating. They really have such a dark history behind them that nearly a lot of people had forgotten. (None of those pictures belong to me.)

Emotional abuse is a real problem these days and the children in those households don’t know that it’s not normal, or at least it shouldn’t be normal, until they are older. If they ever find out at all, that what they went through wasn’t right.

It is not a tool of effective parenting.

And to those children and teens who are going through this today, you are not alone. I know feels like it but you aren’t. You have to do what is best for you sometimes, if distancing yourself from your parents makes it better, do that. If talking to your best friend about it makes you feel better, please do that. Venezuela is not a failed state because they didn’t accept the love of Jesus and Capitalism into their hearts, it’s a failed state because they hinged their entire economy on profits from oil exports and then the bottom dropped out of that market when Saudi stepped up production. If Venezuela had diversified its economy, or invested in a market that only prescience could have predicted would fail, or if they had hinged on oil production instead of oil profit, they’d be doing fine like the rest of OPEC. They didn’t so now they’re hosed. A socialist nation that got hosed didn’t necessarily get hosed because it’s socialist, sometimes it gets hosed in spite of the fact that it was socialist. This wasn’t a division between “everything is great under capitalism” and “everything needs to be rationed because of socialism”, this was a division between “everyone starves because there’s no rationing” and “everything is rationed because of socialism”.

I am not a camgirl. I do not want to fool around with anyone. And I do not wish to communicate with anyone in any sexual way.

There is one other instance to date of a porn blog reblogging my photos in this way, however, I could not find the permalink on their blog. The below screenshot was provided by my friend who first noticed these porn blogs sharing my photos.

Whilst searching through the porn blogs for my own images, I also found images of abuse victims and self-harmers to name but a few groups of people who I am sure did not upload their photos to Tumblr for pornographic purposes. I also, because these blogs tend to be ran by bots, happened across some random photo sets that were neither here nor there. But one that most sticks out, is an image set of a young Asian girl that my mom advised me not to post evidence of.

There is no option to report these posts or these blogs, however, blogs like this can prove to be very harmful. I can only imagine what the girl above or the victims and survivors would think if they realised how their images were being used. And what happens in the future if my baby niece or my boss or any significant other happens across these reblogs and mistakes them as real?

This is something that makes me incredibly uncomfortable and yet it is also something that will likely never be resolved. Nevertheless, I felt a need to make this post. Please share it. Please tell the Tumblr Staff that it’s about time they finally took action. Please….
