WHO IS SHE
New Walls and Canvases by Pichi & Avo That Mix Classic Greek Imagery With Graffiti Writing
[I have tons of screenshots and details that I will add once I reach a computer]
It’s been a long time since I’ve been on tumblr, but I have a situation that I want to share for the sake of spreading the word about what happened in my hometown almost 2 months ago. This site is very good about spreading information, so I hope this works in favor of him, his family, and friends.
On February 11th (a Thursday I believe), a 12 year old boy and his friend (middle-schoolers) were involved in a hit-and-run accident (texting and driving). They were walking to school and Devon, who left early that morning to take a pair of shoes to a kid who was being bullied at school, took the most of the hit and died early the next weak due to severe head trauma (no other injuries, just his head). His friend was only bruised, but witnessed the entire thing and also able to identify the driver, who is a student that I attend high school with.
While he was dying in a hospital bed, she was at a basketball game snapchatting with her friends. She told everyone with certainty that she’s not going jail. She told one of Devon’s classmates that she had a staring problem (I’m guessing she was staring because she was trying to figure out why she’s not in jail??). She has stated that she has refused to put her life on hold because of what happened.
Let’s not forget that while Devon was bleeding out on the ground after she hit him, she went to McDonald’s and bought breakfast for her and her boyfriend and came to school.
Like. Nothing. Happened.
Now, take a deep breath.
It is March 25th and there have been no charges. Her license has either not been revoked or she is still driving illegally (I saw her driving this week). She was not arrested immediately but told by our chief police to “get out of town”, so her and her mother left for the weekend. Chief police helped have her car repaired. Her and her father have been sending out threats because they can’t take the heat that they have been receiving and also some other shitty statements have been made by her (I was one of the ones threatened and I also have other screenshots of posts that she has made on social media).
This description is very vague and not very well put together, but I WILL post links to his Facebook page “Justice4Devon” (search it if you’d like) so you guys can get more information and also ways that you guys can help and support. We’ve harassed our local news channels and were able to get his story on the news, but we still need more. Our protest has already reached all the way to Indiana, Florida, and all over Alabama (where the accident happened).
Please reblog this post and help us get the word out about this. My friend did not leave this world so people like her could continue to walk alongside the rest of us.

Emma Lindström - Cosmic Compositions
26-year-old painter Emma Lindström creates colorful swirls of awesomeness using a combination of acrylic and spraypaint. Though the artist is from Sweden, her work feels as though it came from an entirely different galaxy. Her paintings are nothing short of celestial — though the colors change piece to piece, she maintains the same galactic visuals that transcends our Earthly imaginations.
When it all comes down to it, my main goal is obviously to evoke some kind of emotion. Hopefully you can find something in my work that speaks to your inner self and the light that resides there…no matter what emotion you might get, the important thing is just that you are feeling something.
For more of Lindström’s work, follow her on Instagram and visit her official website.

Here’s some common sense for you. I want gun ownership to be as boring and annoying as car ownership. I want you to go to some Department of Weapons and sit for hours. I want folks who own guns to prove their skill, their mental and physical health, and to be licensed and reviewed over the years just as happens with our driver’s licenses. You earn the right to own and drive a vehicle; earn the right to own and use a gun. Quibble with me over semantics if you want to; what is a “right” vs. what is a “privilege.” I’ll be busy with my friends trying to prevent more unnecessary deaths. Gun ownership isn’t some inalienable right granted by God. Remember, the Constitution was written by men coming out of a long and bloody war near the end of the 18th century. It was written for their time. It also included the “right” to own a human being. Things change. Folks evolve. I want a voluntary federal buyback program for firearms, with hunting weapons and vintage/historic weapons exempt. I want the sale of weapons to be even more tightly controlled than the sale of Xanax and other controlled substances. I want advertising for firearms to be as regulated as DTC (direct to consumer) advertising for pharmaceuticals (“May cause shortness of breath, long-lasting boners, etc.”) We can do all of this. It’ll create jobs, believe it or not: regulators, educators, enforcers. It will not end murder. It won’t end rape or robbery either. It WILL make it harder to commit those crimes. There will be a black market for guns as there is for any coveted item in a capitalist society. (And I’m not anti-capitalism, btw. I’m a big fan! Sorry, hippies. I do love you guys, by the way, you’re very nice people with good instincts.) Continuing education credits for gun owners should be required, just as they are with medical professionals. When you have a greater ability to take a human life you have a greater responsibility to prove your fitness to wield the tools that may create that end. And that’s how the fuck you well-regulate a goddamn American militia.

A lot of people ask me what my biggest fear is, or what scares me most. And I know they expect an answer like heights, or closed spaces, or people dressed like animals, but how do I tell them that when I was 17 I took a class called Relationships For Life and I learned that most people fall out of love for the same reasons they fell in it. That their lover’s once endearing stubbornness has now become refusal to compromise and their one track mind is now immaturity and their bad habits that you once adored is now money down the drain. Their spontaneity becomes reckless and irresponsible and their feet up on your dash is no longer sexy, just another distraction in your busy life. Nothing saddens and scares me like the thought that I can become ugly to someone who once thought all the stars were in my eyes.
this fucks me up every single time
I never expected this to be my most popular poem out of the hundreds I’ve written. I was extremely bitter and sad when I wrote this and I left out the most beautiful part of that class.
After my teacher introduced us to this theory, she asked us, “is love a feeling? Or is it a choice?” We were all a bunch of teenagers. Naturally we said it was a feeling. She said that if we clung to that belief, we’d never have a lasting relationship of any sort.
She made us interview a dozen adults who were or had been married and we asked them about their marriages and why it lasted or why it failed. At the end, I asked every single person if love was an emotion or a choice.
Everybody said that it was a choice. It was a conscious commitment. It was something you choose to make work every day with a person who has chosen the same thing. They all said that at one point in their marriage, the “feeling of love” had vanished or faded and they weren’t happy. They said feelings are always changing and you cannot build something that will last on such a shaky foundation.
The married ones said that when things were bad, they chose to open the communication, chose to identify what broke and how to fix it, and chose to recreate something worth falling in love with.
The divorced ones said they chose to walk away.
Ever since that class, since that project, I never looked at relationships the same way. I understood why arranged marriages were successful. I discovered the difference in feelings and commitments. I’ve never gone for the person who makes my heart flutter or my head spin. I’ve chosen the people who were committed to choosing me, dedicated to finding something to adore even on the ugliest days.
I no longer fear the day someone who swore I was their universe can no longer see the stars in my eyes as long as they still choose to look until they find them again.
This is so fucking important and I think it’s something I needed right now

History wants so badly for Cleopatra to be beautiful. Like they can’t conceive of Rome being intimidated by anything less
because being a linguist, fleet commander, and powerful ruler doesn’t matter, only her looks
Her Arab contemporaries raved about her being very interested and knowledgeable in the sciences.
She completely reformed the system in Alexandria, and Egypt at large; making it much more of a functional powerhouse.
She did what 300 years of her ancestors couldn’t: Managed to get the support of both the Greek AND Egyptian subjects she ruled.
There is a sculpture that has been identified as her, through comparisons to coins minted under her rule, that proves beyond a doubt that she wasn’t particularly beautiful.
It isn’t that people just happen to believe it by mistake. Rome was fucking terrified of her and painted her as a vapid, scheming, beautiful, sex obsessed queen to discredit her to their people. She was a threat, and that was how they handled it. The unfortunate thing is that that is the most surviving record of her. A smear campaign against one of the smartest, most powerful women in human history.
