“Pre-order Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection” has been a legitimate sidequest. And I’m still working on it. This isn’t even about playing the games, either. This is everything else surrounding that.
A summary of this sidequest so far:
It’s the start of the year. I’ve been checking the website frequently for updates, and find out Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection is finally available for pre-orders!
Call my local GameStop to confirm pre-orders are open and get one put on my account
Head in later that day to pay the pre-order off in full
About a month before launch, the store I pre-ordered through abruptly closes
Find out a few days later that all of their pre-orders were transferred to another store
Call to confirm pre-order is still valid and make sure I know which store I’m picking up at
Launch day arrives
Go to store to pick up Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection
Their system thinks I overpayed by $0.01. The POS system clearly wasn’t designed with the consideration that a customer could legitimately be owed one cent. This is an entire experience involving me and multiple associates. Extremely silly.
Finally get my game, though
Get home, enjoy my game, but haven’t thought about redeeming the bonus content yet
Realize later I’m not sure how to (because I missed one detail on the site)
Many google searches over two weeks does nothing but assure me that I’m the only one with a problem
Realize I’m legitimately missing a download code because of an entirely random Youtube video and comment
Getting my things together, I find out that I did not, in fact, overpay by one cent. Just so you know.
There is no code on my receipts. I did not receive it via email. I didn’t get a card. It’s not hidden in some obscure corner of my GameStop account. It’s not in the box. It’s not in the bag. I just never got it.
Fill out an inquiry form to Capcom customer service.
Capcom CS is super helpful and directs me forward to the specific applicable GameStop support contacts and leaves an open channel. Putting a pin in this one.
E-mail GameStop CS
GameStop CS is shockingly prompt, but can’t help as they’re out of codes. Advises calling Nintendo CS.
By the time I have brain juice for this, Nintendo’s CS lines are all closed. Come back to do this the next day.
For a moment, there’s a glimmer of hope
Apparently my pre-order for a physical cartridge was not part of an official bundle that would have come with the pre-order bonus

I’m still looking for the next step of this sidequest since I think it might be ongoing. Certainly, I very much hope that it is.

I have eaten penne lisce. Objectively the worst pasta. If you sneeze too hard in its general direction, any sauce on it will fly off. You can literally cook it in tomato sauce and it will still taste of nothing. Even if you stuff cheese inside it by hand, meticulously, individually, it will fall out. No friction on these fuckers. Bad pasta.
Needless to say, I’ll be streaming Downpour tomorrow. Specifically, going to be doing Gourmand speedruns! It’s going to be a fun time and, yes, it’s going to be fast.
Just finished resleeving my new deck after a trip to the card shop.
This is my first time using GameGenic Prime Sleeves (it’s been some 15 years, so none of the brands I knew were on sale). I have to say: These sleeves get my stamp of approval! I never could have dreamed of my cards handling so well as a kid—these sleeves slide past each other without any issue whatsoever! No catching, no sticking; only complaint is since they come bagged, you aren’t left with a perfectly-sized deck box after you’ve used them all up.
Couldn’t quite get all the cards I wanted to adjust this deck with, but I’m pretty excited to get back into playing.
