You Never Walk Alone ... On Halloween - Part 2
Hi, guys! Here's Part 2 of BTS Halloween AU in honour of spooky season. Please enjoy it!
(Don't hate me, guys. This is a very random crackhead piece. I'll be back tomorrow with Eat Jin - Chapter 5 and a new series starring Taehyung. Drabbles, Imagines and Scenarios to follow day after.)
Brief: You’re a practical, problem-solving, no-nonsense witch, trying to help out wherever you can. That’s until you try to help seven strangers on Halloween and end up in a situation a little bit out of your league. You and BTS must work together to walk out of this one.
Details: BTS x Witch Reader – Horror and Crackhead Humour
Seven men stood surrounding you with varied expressions on their faces. Hoseok and Jin had flinched and taken two steps backwards, hiding behind Namjoon. Yoongi eyed you suspiciously but it was clear that he didn’t care either way. Taehyung and Jungkook were too excited for their own good, eyes beaming with joy. Jimin and Namjoon gave you matching glances of disbelief.
“I’m sorry but did you just say that you’re a witch?”, Jimin asked.
“Yeah but you don’t need to be scared of me. We need to get on with taking care of the spirit”, you answered, turning around, getting a feel of the place to figure out a plan when you were interrupted again - this time by Namjoon.
“Umm…do you care to elaborate?”, he began, stepping forward.
“Elaborate on?”, you asked, ignoring the same string of questions that always came once you came out as a witch. You continued trying to get a feel of the place, eyes shut, back facing the boys, moving around a little. You could feel your powers coming back when you neared a light source.
“On claiming to be a witch, of course! Where are the receipts?”, Namjoon inquired, exasperated, throwing his hands up over his head and bringing them down, his expression that of disbelief still.
“Why do you care either way? I just want to get out of this house. Let her help. I swear to God, if I hear one more peep out of the lot of you, I’ll either kill you all or die myself! If she says she’s a witch, then she’s a witch!”, Yoongi piped up.
“She’s too pretty to be a witch. Aren’t they supposed to have warty, pointy noses and just be overall ugly?”, Jin noted nonchalantly, ignoring Yoongi’s rant.
“But don’t you remember Selena Sunbaenim in Wizards of Waverly Place? She was a normal girl in it”, Jungkook remarked.
“No, they’re supposed to be green. They’re green on the Broadway”, Taehyung added with a proud smile. “I would know because I have been to Broadway.”
“So have I. So have all of us. We all went together”, Jin said, sounding irritated.
“Because I took you guys. There’s no culture in this group without me”, Taehyung retorted. What the fuck was this weird tangent? No wonder they were being haunted. They were easy targets! The discussion went on for a few more minutes, the topics going from witches to Broadway to bagels (yes, bagels) to Pokémon and then magically back to witches. You tried placing a silence charm on them but they kept breaking it. God, they were loud.
“Witches aren’t real! Y/N is clearly a fraud!”, Namjoon could be heard shouting at the top of his voice, Jimin nodding along in agreement.
You sighed. They weren’t going to let you focus. You turned to answer their questions. “Witches exist. So do ghosts. So do werewolves. And vampires but they’re a dying species. I actually have some flyers in the back of my car to help start a campaign to save the local vampire population…”, you trailed off, seeing a lack of response from the boys.
“But let’s take care of the spirit first”, you said. “And that means I need to focus and figure out a plan. My powers are a little weird right now for some …” And you were interrupted again.
“Prove it”, Namjoon challenged.
“Prove what?”, you asked.
“That you’re a witch. Tell me what I’m thinking right now.”
“You’re thinking that I’m not a witch but anyone could’ve guessed that because you’ve been shouting that for a good ten minutes now. Now, guys, I really nee…” Yet another interruption.
“You’re good”, Namjoon commented, his eyes in a slit.
“What am I thinking?”, Taehyung asked.
You sighed and continued, “I can’t tell right now. It’s the spirit, it’s not letting me use my powers and I need to be closer to a light source, I think.”
“She’s not a witch”, Taehyung announced to his friends, ignoring you. He turned to you with a cocky smile. “FYI, Y/N, I was thinking about Yeontan.”
“Tell me what I’m thinking”, Jungkook asked with a bunny smile.
“Nothing. I’m drawing blanks on you”, I replied.
“She’s good, guys. I really wasn’t thinking of anything”, Jungkook said, giving you a look of approval.
“What am I thinking”, Jin said, taking his turn.
“You’re thinking about how handsome you are. And I don’t need to be a witch for that. You’re standing in front of the mirror, posing”, you explained. He sent you a flying kiss via the mirror, smiling. What was up with these guys? One minute they were scared and the next it was as if the existence of the spirit was completely forgotten.
“What about me?”, Yoongi asked.
“You just look tired”, you observed. “But moving on, we need to…”
“Oof! She’s good, guys. I was feeling like taking a nap”, Yoongi interrupted.
The others murmured in agreement and the discussion somehow took off again. By this point you were practically red with anger. If you could, you would’ve put a silence spell on all of them and fed them to the spirit yourself. Why you’d chosen to help these seven … you paused mid-thought. “Wait. Where’s Jimin?”, you asked, looking around.
Everyone looked around, frantically searching for Jimin, shouting his name. “Oh my god, the spirit took him! The spirit took Jimin and we are next!”, Taehyung squealed, scared.
“Umm, no. I’m right here”, someone said from one side of the room and you all jumped and huddled together to see Jimin giving you all a very angry glare. “I was right here the entire time you were all shouting my name. Seriously, guys, there’s a place and time for short jokes and this just wasn’t it.”
A chuckle was heard from upstairs, making Jimin run and join your huddle. “What was that?”, Hoseok asked. “More like who was that”, Yoongi said.
“Come on. Let’s check it out”, you said, leading the group in a line up the stairs. You heard low but continuous yelps while you took the stairs one step at a time. “Does anyone else hear a puppy crying?”, you asked, looking back.
“That’s Hoseok Hyung and Jin Hyung. Ignore them”, Jungkook said, continuing to climb after you as you turned and continued as well.
You all reached the first floor landing. You made various hand signals telling them to split in two groups and move towards the bedrooms at the ends of the corridors and work your way back to the top of the stairs.
“That’s how people die, Y/N. Have you even watched horror movies?”, Jungkook shouted, oblivious to your plan of staying quite to maintain an element of surprise.
“Yeah, but Y/N’s a witch. She can handle it”, Taehyung said.
“Oh, so she’s suddenly a witch now that you’re scared?”, Namjoon asked.
And they were at it again. The bickering was probably worse than the spirit. Just as you sat down on the stairs, head in your hands, a loud roar was heard across the halls. The boys quieted down to listen while you stood up.
“Stop it! Stop the fighting! I can’t take it! I wanted to play with you all a little before I killed you all off but I cannot take another word out of the seven of you. I’ll take one of you every ten minutes!”, the voice roared. “As for the witch, I’ll save you for dessert.” The ominous threat was followed by maniacal laughter. As soon as the laughter died down, the house grew cold and quiet again.
Everyone looked at each other in sheer terror when Yoongi spoke up. “Guys, where’s Jimin?” The frantic search for Jimin began again in the earnest.
“For the last time, I’m right here!”, Jimin exclaimed, furious, taking a few steps backwards. “I’m just one centimeter shorter than you, Hyung! This has got to stop!” Jimin’s rant went on but you were all focused on the door behind him beginning to open while he paid no attention to it.
“Hyung…”, Jungkook began, trying to warn him only to be interrupted by a delirious Jimin. “That’s right! I am your hyung. You should respect me. Not make fun of my height.”
“Jimin…”, Namjoon tried only to be interrupted again. “Hyung, I respect you as our leader but you’re too tall! It’s unfair! You all need to stop teasing me or one day there’ll be nobody to teeeeaaaase…!”, Jimin screamed out the end of that sentence as he was pulled into the room, the door shutting firmly after him.
Taehyung went banging on the door, turning the lock to make it open but it won’t budge. He returned to the group with his head downcast.
“We need to get the fuck out of here”, Yoongi said.
“No! Not without Jimin!”, Taehyung shouted.
“He got taken, Taehyung! The spirit ate him!”, Hoseok exclaimed, hands flailing about wildly.
“Since when do spirits eat people?”, Namjoon asked, still not scared. “This feels like some elaborate Halloween prank and I’ll thank you guys to stop… wait, where’s Jin Hyung?” You all started looking around again as heavy footsteps were heard on the staircase. You all huddled together, waiting for whatever monster was headed your way as you raised your hands, ready to cast necessary spells. The footsteps fell on the stairs with heavy, uneven intensity, each one making you all jump a little.
“I’m here, I’m here. Sorry, I got hungry and left to get the pizzas”, Jin spoke with food in his mouth, climbing the stairs with a box of pizza in hand.
“Ah, thank god. I felt like I was going to faint with hunger”, Yoongi said, relieved and walking towards Jin, taking a slice of pizza from the box.
Within seconds, you were all seated on the floor in a circle, enjoying the pizza.
“These are so good, Y/N. There’s something about the sauce. What’s your secret ingredient?”, Jin asked, gulping down more pizza. “Is it magic?”, he said, letting out a high-pitched cackle, slapping his hand on your knee while you laughed along. Hoseok laughed too, clapping his hands at the speed of light along with it.
Someone cleared their throat, making you all turn towards the door Jimin had disappeared inside to find Jimin standing there, perfectly fine. You all rushed to him.
“Hyung, you’re back! I love you!”, Jungkook said, pulling Jimin into a hug. Realizing he was the only one hugging Jimin while the rest of you just stood around, he let go of him. Jungkook walked away wordlessly and stood behind Taehyung as you waited for Jimin to explain.
“I see you’ve all replaced me with the witch”, he said, eyeing you with hatred.
“Noooo, Jimin. We were just…”, Namjoon began.
“Just what? Enjoying pizza on Halloween in a circle on the floor with her, laughing, making jokes? You all know that’s what I’ve always dreamed of doing together, as a group”, he said, arms crossed.
“That’s a very specific dream, Jimin”, you began.
“Silence, witch! And why haven’t we seen you do any magic yet?”
“My magic is a subtle art. It’s not trickery or magician’s tricks. It’s very delicate”, you justified, panicking a little. Your magic had proven ineffective against them for some reason. You’d been trying to place various small spells all this while to make things go faster but these boys were out of control of even the deepest mysteries and powers of nature. “More importantly, how are you back unharmed and alive?”, you asked, distracting the attention from yourself.
He gave a smirk at that. “The spirit was ready to eat me. But then it looked at me and decided I’m too cute.” He smiled cutely and Taehyung and Hoseok joined him, pulling his cheeks and showering him with love.
“Again, doesn’t it bother anyone that this spirit eats people? I’ve never heard of that before”, Namjoon said, his eyes searching everyone else’s for an explanation.
“Namjoon-ah, we got hungry, we ate. The ghost must be hungry too”, Jin reasoned. It had to be one of the most unrealistic, unfunny and unimaginative explanations you had ever heard. Your thoughts were interrupted by Hoseok’s shriek. “Where’s Yoongi Hyung?”
Not again, you thought. “I’m right here, I just fell asleep”, Yoongi said, stretching on the floor and getting up to walk over, when the house suddenly began shaking. Winds whooshed down the hallways and the spirit’s voice roared again.
“Jimin was too cute. I couldn’t eat him. Plus he danced to Fire for me and I didn’t want to take away all of that talent away from the world. So, I’ve spared him. But I will eat the rest of you. One. By. One.”
Everyone was quiet for a moment. “Again, and I’ve said this twice already, I’ve never heard of a spirit eating people. Care to explain?”, Namjoon said, arms folded, expecting the spirit to, well, explain.
“Silence! Should I eat you first?”, the voice roared.
“But we are all talented. If that’s your criteria for sparing people’s lives, I mean”, Hoseok said. With the realization that that might save their lives, they all started displaying their own talents in a haphazard manner, creating chaos.
“No! That was a one time offer!”
With that the boys began whining and questioning the spirit’s authority. You had to take matters into your own hands. You put a freeze spell on all of them, making them pause, and addressed the spirit directly.
“Enough of your threats. If you’re so strong, come face me yourself. I challenge you to a match of acrostic poetry, cham cham cham and frying pan game! You win, feel free to eat us all. We win, you have got to leave”, you suggested, challenging the spirit.
There was a long silence, followed by the return of the booming voice, “I’ll need one of you to possess so I can participate in a physical form.”
Two very long minutes of “stone-paper-scissors” later, Jungkook was chosen as the representative and possessee, if you will, of the spirit.
Your team easily won the frying pan game, making the spirit howl in pain through Jungkook’s voice. The second game was acrostic poems.
“Halloween!”, shouted Hoseok, presenting the spirit with the word for an acrostic poem.
“Wean, I must, happy moments out of life.”
The crowd erupted in applause and approval.
“That was touching, spirit. I might just use that for our next album”, Yoongi commented, growing somber.
“Your turn. Horrifying”, Jungkook said, on behalf of the spirit.
“Whor…”, Jimin began only to be slapped on the back by Jin. “We. Do. Not. Use. That. Kind. Of. Language. In. This. House!”, he said, marking each word with a slap to Jimin’s back.
Jungkook erupted in laughter. “You lost.”
The last game had everyone on edge. All of your lives depended on it. It was time for cham-cham-cham game.
It was your team’s turn and Taehyung volunteered. He easily got through, coming back to his place smirking. The spirit won their set as well.
Finally, to break the tie, Jungkook and Taehyung took their place in front of Jin who held the spatula being used for the game. “Cham cham cham!”, Jin said, pointing the spatula upwards. Lo and behold, Jungkook got it right while Taehyung failed.
The house filled with the spirit’s laughter, which had just left Jungkook’s body. “I won and now you all die!”
“No, we don’t”, Namjoon said.
“Yes, you do. We agreed on it”, the spirit said as you felt it getting infuriated.
“No. It was Jungkook’s body. He’s technically on our side since you don’t really exist physically. So, technically, we won all the games, even the ones we lost”, he explained, with a satisfied smile, flashing his dimples. Everyone burst out in laughter, even celebrating their victory over the spirit.
“That’s it! This is humiliating! Never in my two months of afterlife have I faced such disrespect! Why won’t you take me seriously? I’m going to yeet you all out to the end of the world and then…”, the voice boomed.
“Wait. You’re going to what and when did you die?”, you asked, a smirk already in place.
“Two months ago and I’m going to yeet you all…”, the voice continued before you began laughing as the other looked at you as if you had lost it.
Controlling your laughter, you began, “Guys, this spirit is a millennial or younger. And I know just how to deal with it.”
With that, you whispered a plan into the boy’s ears while the spirit’s voice boomed over you, “What are you discussing? What are you doing? So what if I’m a millennial? Are you all talking about me? Guys, I feel really anxious when I’m at a party and everyone is talking but I’m being excluded. It’s always been a fear and you doing this isn’t helping. My parents had weird expectations out of me and i never met them and that's where the anxiety is rooted but still! I just came out on Halloween to have a good time and I'm honestly feeling so attacked right now!”
“Don’t worry, we weren’t talking about you. But we do have something for you”, you said, smiling and opening your screenshots, as did the boys.
“How do you feel about… wrong use of memes, spirit?”, Jungkook asked, a devilish grin on his face.
“No. You wouldn’t!”, the spirit spat.
With that you all started using memes, but wrongly, much to the agony of the spirit.
“No! Stop it! I’ll leave. Let me gooooooo”, the voice said, before fading away, as all the doors and windows unlocked. You ran to the front door and turned the lock to see it open, a wide smile on your face. You turned around to smile at the guys who all hugged each other one by one, busy celebrating their life and you took the opportunity to hide behind a plant.
Jimin turned to look for you and not finding you, said, “Guys, where’s Y/N?”
“Guess she really was a witch”, Namjoon said as the rest nodded in agreement. You jumped out from behind the plant. “Boo!” They all jumped while Hoseok and Jin fell backwards, onto the floor. Everyone started laughing then except for those two. They’d very clearly fainted out of shock but the rest of you wouldn’t notice for a couple more minutes, very entertained and cackling because of Jungkook’s spot on imitation of the spirit’s voice.
