In 1945, US intelligence officers in Manila discovered that the Japanese had hidden large quantities of gold bullion and other looted treasure in the Philippines. President Truman decided to recover the gold but to keep its riches secret.

These, combined with Japanese treasure recovered during the US occupation, and with recovered Nazi loot, would create a worldwide American political action fund to fight communism.

This ‘Black Gold’ gave Washington virtually limitless, unaccountable funds, providing an asset base to reinforce the treasuries of America’s allies, to bribe political and military leaders, and to manipulate elections in foreign countries for more than fifty years.

I've reached a very critical point in my rewatch of The X-Files. Season 8. Mulder is gone, Doggett is here. I'm going to try my hardest to approach the remainder of the original run with an open mind because they are far and away the episodes I have seen least.

I haven't rewatched New Who in full since the 60th anniversary in 2023 and we're halfway into the wilderness right now.

My mental health is such that I think it's time to break out the blu-rays and take a little trip through time and space again.

I'm just gonna hit play all and vibe out with my pal The Doctor for a few weeks.

I own all of New Who on blu-ray, and there are some discs I haven't actually played yet, so this will be a real treat. I also have all of Torchwood with the exception of Miracle Day.

I also don't own any SJA beyond what's included in the Tennant collection and the later Matt Smith disc, though, so there's still room to grow.
