Gotta tell you guys something wild in the Chinese fan sphere

So some fanartist drew a “sexy” (read: booby) version of a (cartoon) character who is traditionally very non-sexualised. Fans of the character got mad about it because it’s kind of groundbreaking how that character is written and portrayed and this art totally ignores the entire point of the character. They demanded the art be deleted. In response to that other people said, well what the fanartist did may be distateful but they have every right to draw what they’re into. The two sides fight for days and each starts a harassment campaign and even report their “opponents’” accounts.

So far so typical. But things eventually come to a head and they decide that this will be settled by votes - not through a poll. Through donations to a children’s education charity via each side’s portal. Whoever can get the highest amount of donation wins.

And that is how this charity received over 1 million in donations in three days lol. Oh btw the “freedom of expression” side won by a landslide (960k to 40k)

I'd love to see more desperate cuddles. Like, the moment when the touch-starved, puts up all their walls and won't let anyone in character finally lets the dam break and is clinging to the other character. Frantically feeling around, holding them as tight as possible, and holding back noises. Not in a freaky way, but in this way that they haven't had any real human connection in so long that they have to let out what they've been keeping bottled up

big fan of the listless dissociated look that whumpees have after something that causes incredible pain (whether emotional or physical just a Lot of it) - when their eyes are focused on nothing and their mouth is a little open and maybe they're covered in blood and they're limp and just move with whoever is pulling them up rather than actually using any of their own strength. when blinking is the only acknowledgement they can give that they can even hear or understand what's going on. when they aren't even crying because that would take too much energy. they're just... tired. empty. dazed. yeah. big fan

Whumper forcing their fingers deep into whumpee's mouth until they choke and gag, over and over. Over time whumpee learns how to breathe past the intrusion, and their gag reflex is slowly trained out.

Protip for people writing about torture: fingernail removal hurts, but something I haven't seen many stories mention is the exposed nail bed afterwards, which is going to bleed a lot, has a fuck load of nerve endings, and was never meant to be exposed to open air so the gentlest faintest sensations are uncomfortable and amplified on that surface. Air blown on it can hurt. Even putting the pressure on it required to stop the bleeding feels like torture, let alone all the things that one could do to it after if they were interested in causing greater pain

Also, if you do manage to injure your nail bed, there will be a period of time where the nail will have partially grown back but the skin underneath hasn't healed yet. The scab will be compressed under the nail, and any amount of pressure on it will hurt like crazy, even just accidentally brushing your hand against something

hmm, how to say this in a way that doesn't accidentally and incorrectly convey that I'm on any various Mad At Someone islands... it is completely #validandreal to be put off by and feel uncomfortable about discussions of sexual violence subtext in fiction, it takes no stretch of the imagination to figure out why it's not to everybody's taste, That's Fine, not everything is for everyone, I'm not making rounds on people's blogs to say Engage With This Abuse Allegory Or Perish. I also think it's completely fair to not want to engage with a lens because it paints a character you like and/or relate to as metaphorically sexually abusive and it doesn't feel good to contemplate that, you get to think about what ever you want in your own blessèd mind and you don't have to bring something into your sandbox if you don't find it fun to play with. what I think is a problem is having that subjective discomfort reaction to sexual violence subtext and then using that discomfort by itself to argue that the reading is invalid and that the people talking about it are just making craaaazy reaches. not enjoying a line of thought is fine, thinking that a particular vein of analysis doesn't hold up to strong counterarguments is fine, saying "I don't like thinking about this so it's wrong and everyone should stop talking about it" is a whole different thing and just further taboos and stigmatizes conversations about sexual violence even in fictional and abstract contexts.
