no one asked, but this is my blog so, I recently finished playing Shantae and the Pirate's Curse Overall? Good time There were but two times that I wasn't having a good time: The stealth section on the desert pre-dungeon and ... I don't remember right now. Did have a softlock scare in the desert dungeon. The ice dungeon felt very bare-bones. The movement tech progression was interesting and it was fun to goof off with all the abilities, but by the time I got all the movement tech, I'd pretty much gotten all the hearts and bats, so I didn't have anything to use the tech on. They do have that final gauntlet before the final boss, which felt like I was playing Celeste again. But still. The humor is good for the most part. I don't think I ever burst out laughing, but a chuckle or smile or just keeping the whimsical atmosphere. The spritework and music were great: the extra, nonfunctional bits purely there to flavor (like giving her an eat/drink animation that gets cued up for when you exit the menu after using a consumable) (syncing the idle animations with the music). There was only like 1 enemy which made me go "porn" (the slime that grabs and squeezes your whole body), the rest were just basic raunchy/risque. Shot myself in the foot by not realizing that the shop sold attack and tech upgrades... oops. uhh... Solid game. Probably more fun if your the kind of person who likes to not-100% your first run through.
