I told my little nephew that I'd wave at his airplane when it flew over my house today, and he very calmly and politely explained that it wouldn't be possible to see me due to the limitations of human vision. I said he just had to squint real hard, and he took a deep breath and went into the toddler version of "see, what you're not understandingā"
it is actually haunting me that I forgot to wave. if he looked out the airplane window, he wouldnāt have seen meā¦..
Go outside and wave real quick. He can not see you from wherever he is just as well as he could not see you from his plane. It's still nothing, nothing will change, but a process would occur.

But by 2023, just two years of letting "nature take the lead" one can find 4,000 bees, with the number of different bee species doubling.
"A Scottish field once home to mono-crop barley has become a pollinatorās paradise after intervention from a local trust saw bumblebee numbers increase 100-fold.
Entitled Rewilding Denmarkfield, and run by the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, the project has also seen a sharp increase in the number of species passing through the rolling meadows after they were reclaimed by dozens of wildflower species.
The area north of Perth is about 90 acres in size, and surveys of bumblebees before the project began rarely recorded more than 50. But by 2023, just two years of letting ānature take the leadā that number has topped 4,000, with the number of different bee species doubling.
āThis superb variety of plants attracts thousands of pollinators. Many of these plants, such as spear thistle and smooth hawkās beard, are sometimes branded as āweedsā. But they are all native species that are benefiting native wildlife in different ways,ā Ecologist Ellie Corsie, who has been managing the project since it began in 2021, said.
āDue to intensive arable farming, with decades of plowing, herbicide, and pesticide use, biodiversity was incredibly low when we started. Wildlife had largely been sanitized from the fields. Rewilding the site has had a remarkable benefit.ā
Similar increases have been recorded in the populations of butterflies, with a tripling in the number of these insects seen on average during a ramble through the field.
The numbers of both insects are now so high that Rewilding Denmarkfield offers bee and butterfly safaris to visitors.
Local residents told the Scotsman that on spring and summer days, the field is awash with color, and hums with the sounds of bees and birds. Even as multiple housing developments expand around the Denmarkfield area, the field is a haven for wildlife."

I mean, in some very interesting Technically Correct ways, they didn't actually die? Now, they're very much no longer alive. But the forces involved are such that they didn't get any of the usual cellular processes of death, they simply went from biology to physics in less time than it takes a signal to travel down your optic nerve.
if you go from biology to physics without dying first you donāt go to heaven the uber driver went over this already
Wait is THAT how Purgatory works?
"I died too fast for any kind of afterlife so now I'm just stuck. I can't even reenact my death because it was TOO FAST. This is worse than dying. This is worse than nonexistence. Maybe I should have listened to all the people saying my bargain basement submarine was a bad idea."
the mexican football team has a 17 yrs old player and one of the funniest outcomes of this is that he cannot appear in any ad for gambling or drinking so he only appears in candy and milk advertisements. his first world cup and he's not even legally allowed to drive. his nickname is "morita" (little berry). he's three apples tall.
they couldn't put him in the beer campaign so he was represented by a bunch of berries
Man no one even remembers laptop in bed. It was laptop in bed for years. Now it's just phone in bed. Maybe tablet. But usually phone. So much has changed

thereās a cultural obsession with labelling all female authors as unintelligent or otherwise only capable of accidentally stumbling into brief moments of genius in their works that we need to start pushing back against
āI was always bothered when people say, āI cry to your music, it sounds like a diary, it sounds so personal,āā Mitski says. āYes, it is personal. But thatās so gendered. Thereās no feeling of, āOh, maybe sheās a songwriter and she wrote this as a piece of art.āā
(source)
feel like it's related to the phenomenon mitski's discussing here - if women's art is only seen as unfiltered diaristic emotion then of course it can only ever be accidental genius, never created with intention and thought
this guy created mcafee antivirus and then went completely off the rails. like absolute chaos. he got super rich, moved to Belize, was suspected of murdering his neighbor, fled Belize, had his location accidentally leaked by a Vice journalist who was with him lmfao, was apprehended in Guatemala, faked not one but two heart attacks while in custody to buy time for his lawyer, was deported back to the US, and then ran for president as a libertarian
hes so unintentionally funny
HOW could I forget this classic
Hey. Why isnāt the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isnāt that fucked up? Does anyone else think thatās absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! Thatās a big deal! Iāve never thought about it before but now that I have, itās ridiculous to me that thatās not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why donāt we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
Itās July 20th. Thatās the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. Iām ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and Iām going to have a goddamn potluck. Youāre all invited.
Hey. Hey. Tumblr. Ides of March ppl. We can do this
Hell yeah moon holiday
Ooh coming up we should celebrate
PITCH: We call it Moon Day, and then every 7 years when it falls on a Monday, that's an even BIGGER deal and we call that Moon Day Monday and go absolutely apeshit about it (the next Moon Day Monday is in 2026 so we have a couple trial runs first)
LOVE THIS!!!
Moon Dayās coming up, lads!
