I've been seeing an uptick of people @'ing me (and others) to try and drag us into posts we don't engage with otherwise. Specifically donation posts or similar. It's even worse when it's on some random other person's posts as they're dragging me along to harass someone else with their completely unrelated reply. I'd like to let all know who do that to me, if you do that to me, I'll report and block you. It's annoying and takes my time, so please knock it off.

So just to clarify.

He's basically confirmed brain dead.

important to note that in Kentucky, the state McConnell represents, the law requires a special election when a senator dies in office. So no matter when he actually kicks it, his replacement will be elected by the people of Kentucky.

Also if Kentucky did do things like most (34) other states, and the governor appointed a replacement, it would be governor Andy Beshear, a Democrat who will remain in office until his term ends in 2027 (when he becomes ineligible to run again for four years, having already served two consecutive terms).

I think my entire region is closed at 9pm. I walk outside onto my front porch at 8:30pm, while on the way to put my trash out, and if it's not overcast the sky is lit up with the milky way... because there's no lights to be seen for kilometers... and I live in cabin in a cabin park next to a tourist lake!

There's 50+ buildings on this site, and I feel like I'm breaking the rules by using a torch to not trip on the way to the trash can!

Remembering that time my kid asked his pediatrician if he gets paid a lot as a doctor (which I informed him afterwards that it's generally rude to ask people that) and his doctor told us that he pays EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS A MONTH for his student loans

I'm sure that making it near impossible to become a doctor in a country where every hospital and medical building is always severely understaffed with exhausted, over-worked, financially struggling workers & every ER in every city has a 6-18hr wait & it takes 6 months to one billion years to get into a specialist with a referral is a great idea that has no negative consequences whatsoever

I bet making sure that only the most financially well-off most able-bodied people can become doctors will absolutely create a class of doctors that have only the utmost respect, patience, understanding, and care for disabled patients, especially poor disabled patients

As someone in that "omfg I spent HOW MUCH?" for my education, as a doctor (but in psychology, not physical health)... this rings so painfully true.

And it's terrible for me as I grew up poor, so I want to work with my community and... I HAVE to take them as I can fit them in amongst my "properly paying" clients because otherwise I wouldn't even be able to feed myself, let alone get to work to help.

And then... to add insult to injury... I'm having to argue with other medical professionals that "no, that person isn't being difficult, they're being disabled and poor, which means they can't get in and see you every few days, stop being a dick".
