Why the fuck are tumblr girls so obsessed with being pedo bait? Like why is it really that you want to stay 17 forever be honest with yourself? I see so many posts about it and some of you are really being for real and it just makes me sad because your life has barely started and you've already succumbed to the patriarchal idea that women are only hot if they look like little girls
a while back I reblogged a post pointing out that it's totally reasonable to have a crush on someone and just Not Act On It, Ever, At All, and I cannot stop thinking about the sweet souls in the notes who seemed baffled as to why anyone would ever want to leave a crush unspoken. absolutely fascinating life experience you must be having if that's not a possibility that's ever even cropped up, I have to say. I don't think it's unforgivably naive or anything but it does warrant further study.
zombie-leon au where claire meets him a bit too late, but he isn’t hostile
I’m ready to be transformed by the ibuprofen . I’m ready to be born again in its purifying light.
what if we were both white people in EVERY action film ever and our journey led us to some dusty bazaar of indiscriminate south asian / middle eastern / north african origin 😳 and what if we wove our way through the crowds and desolate-looking women in niqabs and meancing men in turbans passed us by and we were the only white people there 😋 and what if the bad guys started chasing us and we overturned a bunch of people’s vendors and ruined their wares while escaping them 🥴 and what if the color grading of this scene made everything a sickly shade of golden-yellow 😌
this is orientalism.
This obsession society has with grateful, humble, quiet children who never show any signs of disappointment and anger or resentment disgusts me as much today as it does when I was little.
hearing a beloved friend say the words 'can i be mean for a sec' is like watching an angel descend from the heavens and kiss you on the forehead
I have noticed in recent years that men say “no homo” way less often than they used to when I was in high school at least. Like I’ve witnessed in media and online and in person adult men just willing to say “I love you” or “you look great” to their guy friends without tacking a no homo onto the end of it.
And if you think that’s not progress you weren’t there in the trenches.
the pink tax sucks but u can help a girlie out
The objective of this research is to analyze how women navigate gendered product pricing in their day-to-day purchasing decisions. Thank yo
So after making the switch to men's razors for my legs after noticing how little my brother had to pay, I really wanted to write a paper about how the pink tax (gendered pricing) affects women in the US both economically and socially/psychologically, because I've seen most papers address one or the other, but not how they intersect.
As part of this, I'm collecting a short, closed-ended survey, so if you'd like to take it (I would REALLY appreciate it <3333) I really need more girls and women in the 16-40 range but anything is acceptable. Also no identifiable personal information is collected at ALL for this survey.
Also, if anyone here has any questions or things they want to share about the pink tax, please feel free to ask me because I've researched a lot about it, and I'd be happy to answer or talk about anything related to the pink tax bc it's kind of my life right now lol.
Thank you sooo much for helping me because the more survey responses, the better my data can reflect all of us <33
PSA for anyone who didn't know!
There is an Original Works tag on Ao3 and it gets plenty of traffic. Quit trying to discourage original authors from using the site. Both original works and fan works have a place there. One does not take away from the other. In fact, the existence of both just makes the site all the richer.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy 1.05
darem with the side eye
Look, I know y'all like to use "Doctor Bashir, I Presume?" as a gay or trans metaphor and I don't even disagree with it (DS9 is trans as hell! That's one of the reasons I love it!). But there's something frustrating about seeing a storyline which is explicitly about ableism and is explicitly an allegory for autism and eugenics once again made into a strictly queer narrative.
It is clearly implied that Bashir was autistic when he was engineered and his parents, rather than take care of and understand him, tried to erase that part of him. Of course, they failed. The engineering, to me, just made his autism develop faster and enhanced his bits of narcissism the same way Khan strength and ability were enhanced. Later, the other augments he meets that have "gone wrong" clearly have had their mental illnesses enhanced.
While that narrative hasn't aged as well as Bashir's, the overall plot is so blatantly about eugenics and yet, I haven't seen anyone discuss it this way. It can be both a queer narrative AND a neurodivergent one, I think, but it's just one of many ND narratives I've seen in media get practically erased in the discourse in favour of a strictly queer one. Star Trek is more complicated than that and while I honestly think trans!Bashir is a fun idea, I don't want people to forget the original intention/implications of the episode.
crazy to hear people call Chris x Leon Creon bc the Antigone flashbacks come to my mind like war memories
Anyone else watched the new Star Trek? This won’t surprise anyone but… I like it! Here’s my artwork for the first two episodes of Starfleet Academy.
For those who need to hear it. To be ten pounds overweight is barely noticeable. To be ten pounds underweight is cause for concern if not outright alarm.
The primary health impact of being fifty pounds overweight is medical neglect. The primary health impact of being fifty pounds underweight is organ failure.
Skinny =/= healthy. You can not underfeed yourself into balanced nutrition. You can not subtract your way towards a healthy diet. You can not exercise all the spare calories off because bomb calorimetery is a joke of a scientific model that would have been laughed out of any other field.
