Tbh the cosplay community really concerns me sometimes.

LGBT+, please stop trying to make us so different than straight/cis people.

I thought we were supposed to be convincing people that we are all the same and that we aren’t so different. 

Now all I see is “lol straights/cis r wild” “lol y do straight/cis ppl do this” “lol cis/straight ppl r so ugly” “(LGBT+) ppl r better” “why cant all the cis/staights just die?” “being gay/cis isn’t a choice but if it was, I’d still be gay/trans cuz straights/cis r gross” etc. etc. All hateful remarks. 

This divide is NOT helpful. 

We are all just people. 

You are only furthering hate. 

Being “different” doesn’t make you better, more useful, and/or special. 

Stop trying to make us seem so different from straight people and/or cis people. 

You’re fucking everything up for sane LGBT+ people. 

Maybe straight/cis people don’t give a shit about you being LGBT+, maybe they don’t like you because you’re an immature, bullying, victim complex ridden asshole.

(Oh and before you cry about “sum straightz/cis ppl hav done things to us so acting like this is ok” fuck off. You’re an embarrassment and burden to the community. Stop. Grow up.)

As a cis/straight ally to the LGBT+ community, sometimes I end up with a difficult situation where someone who is not straight/cis is disrespectful just for the fact of who I am. Sometimes I don’t feel good enough to be an ally because of being cis/straight, even though I don’t stand for disrespect towards the LGBT+ community and support everyone as best as I can while educating myself. It’s a sticky situation because I know they shouldn’t be disrespected, yet when I’m disrespected, I feel like I can’t speak up without sounding like an asshole/ignorant just because I’m cis/straight. This post really helps with my confidence though, so thank you.

"Straight couples shouldn't be at pride"

Well uh…

1.) one or both of people you see as a “straight couple” could be pan/bi/poly/ace

2.) one or both of them could be trans or non binary

3.) you could be misgendering someone

I know a good number of straight people who go to Pride to celebrate the lives of friends and family who have died because they want to remember them as they lived, happy and joyful and surrounded by a community that loved them.
