No. Murdoc gained the upper hand, and beat him round the head. When he came to, he was on the floor, with several nice bruises across his head and shoulder to verify his story, before phoning Jack and letting him know. Nothing had been taken, or at least, he didn’t think so.
Mac had come up with this as he’d hastily rifled through his drawers, flinging clothing across the room in a Murdoc-like fashion. He tried not to look back to the bed, or the running shorts he’d immediately shoved deep into his laundry hamper.

I was asked by a friend yesterday if I could offer basic tips about comic paneling. As it turns out, I have a lot to say on the matter! I tried breaking down the art of paneling using the principles of art and design, and I hope it helps you out!
EDIT: uh uh there are a lot of people reblogging this, so i figure i may as well append this now while i can lol
This whole thing was very much cranked out in a few hours so I had a visual to talk about with a friend! If this gives you a base understanding of paneling, that's awesome! Continue to pull in studies from the comics you see and what other artists do well and don't do well! You can tell paneling is doing well when the action is flowing around in its intended reading format.
Here's the link to the globalcomix article from which I pulled the images about panel staggering! Someone sent in a reblog that it wasn't totally clear that the 7th slide mostly covers what NOT to do in regards to staggering, and that is my mistake!
I saw in a tag that someone was surprised I used MamaYuyu too, and I don't blame them lol. If I had given myself more than a couple hours maybe I would have added something else on, I just really admire MamaYuyu's paneling personally.
uh uh, final append: I am by no means a renowned master of paneling, so if you find anything off base here, by all means, counter it with your own knowledge and ways you can build upon from here! Art is always a sum knowledge of everything we find. 💪
so @ovytia-art drew these lines of johnny and i realized they were kinda perfect with @foxyteah's kitty and shadow lines i colored LAST year so!!! here we are!!!! this was so much fun to do because this is one of my favorite colors from last year (and also maybe ever), so it was a neat challenge to make them match BONUS ovytia made a stabby version for the ides of march :3

Last lineart for @green-with-envy-phandom-event! I finished this one with like 4 hours to spare on the deadline lol. It was entirely inspired by the fic The Black Cat: For All Your Magical Needs by Shunters on Ao3 because I'm obsessed with the Amity Park Analog universe :D
Third lineart for @green-with-envy-phandom-event and my only gore piece (hopefully I'll be able to do more next year!). This one's a crossover with Criminal Minds, inspired by all those fics (mainly DC or MHA) where Danny is found post-GIW in another dimension & is assumed to have been kidnapped/trafficked/etc.

First colour for @green-with-envy-phandom-event! The absolutely amazing Nocturn lines are by @tourettesdog. As soon as I saw this creature design for them, I knew I had to colour it. The Clockwork palette ended up being perfect for a space design, too, so that's where I picked the colours from.

Another lineart I did for @green-with-envy-phandom-event. I love the idea of Wes being the only one to figure Danny out, so ofc I had to do a piece for him. I'm pleased with the end result, but it was surprisingly hard for me to mimic the show's style. The background was actually a lot of fun, even if the perfectionist in me was firmly against making it wonky lol
