For anyone wondering, this is Lofoten, Norway.
I don’t know how to say this… but like I would gladly spend the rest of my life here 😍
“Here is a list of terrible things, The jaws of sharks, a vultures wings The rabid bite of the dogs of war, The voice of one who went before, But most of all the mirror's gaze, Which counts us out our numbered days.”
Clive Barker, Abarat, Days of Magic Nights of War
“That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die.”
H.P. Lovecraft, The Nameless City
“Here: an exercise in choice. Your choice. One of these tales is true. She lived through the war. In 1959 she came to America. She now lives in a condo in Miami, a tiny French woman with white hair, with a daughter and a grand-daughter. She keeps herself to herself and smiles rarely, as if the weight of memory keeps her from finding joy. Or that's a lie. Actually the Gestapo picked her up during a border crossing in 1943, and they left her in a meadow. First she dug her own grave, then a single bullet to the back of the skull. Her last thought, before that bullet, was that she was four months' pregnant, and that if we do not fight to create a future there will be no future for any of us. There is an old woman in Miami who wakes, confused, from a dream of the wind blowing the wildflowers in a meadow. There are bones untouched beneath the warm French earth which dream of a daughter's wedding. Good wine is drunk. The only tears shed are happy ones.”
Neil Gaiman, Fragile Things
What is a ghost? A tragedy condemned to repeat itself time and again? A moment of pain, perhaps. Something dead which still seems to be alive. An emotion suspended in time. Like a blurred photograph. Like an insect trapped in amber.
Guillermo Del Toro
horses made me transgender
Story time to explain this
-there’s a horse where I work named Lucy who HATES men
-like “bite your face off” levels of hate
-enter me, who’s been having gender thoughts but not really realizing what that means
-I’d been avoiding Lucy because I quite like having my face not bitten off thank you
-Then one day I forget that she hates men and I go into her stall with her to clean out the poo
-She Doesent Hate me but I don’t think anything about it because I don’t remember that she’s sexist
-Someone walks by and comments on how she never lets any men in there
-“ha ha weird”
-internally I’m screaming “holy shit holy shit holy shit”
-thoughts that I’ve been having suddenly start to make sense
and that’s how I realized I was a girl
all of your dnd character are now adventuring together as a single group. what’s that party lookin like and how fucked are they
Kah’la: Drow Oath of Devotion Paladin (Low INT and CHA, high WIS and STR)
Nika: Tiefling Circle of the Land (Forest) Druid (Low DEX and STR, high WIS, INT and CHA)
Io: Half-Orc Totem Warrior Barbarian (Low WIS and INT, high everything else)
Nessaya: Tiefling Death Domain Cleric (Low STR, high WIS, DEX and CHA)
Solitude: Gorgon Knowledge Domain Cleric (Low STR, high WIS and INT)
Nym: High Elven Archfey Patron Warlock (Low STR, High WIS and CHA)
I guess I could be doomed more? :D At least there are two tanks and a ton of healing in that group! No sneaking though.
Dionyz Stravar: Vistani Bard, College of Spirits. A storyteller who communes with spirits and casts spells through their Tarokka deck. Laid back, jovial, living their best life, and since leaving a certain Temple “does not take ‘no’ for an answer.”
Dominion: An Aasimar Warlock (Fiend) who is stuck in the middle of a tug-of-war match between his devilish patron and his celestial guardian angel while trying to save the order of priests that raised him from the depths of hell.
Corbin Blackmoor: A Daelkyr Halfblood (think eldritch abomination) Gambler Rogue. Based in Sharn (Eberron). Madder than a hatter, has a symbiotic weapon living in his arm. He’s here for a good time, not a long time.
Sister Kaolin Fireclay: Earth Genasi Grave Cleric and worshipper of the Earthmother. Stressed mom friend trying to stop the end of the world.
Thornton Chandler: Half Elf Artificer Battlesmith. Has a big metal lion and big hammer. Other stressed mom friend.
Honestly they’re a well-balanced group. Might need a tank tho. Pretty sure half of them would hate each others guts by the end of any sorta adventure.
as the sun sets, as the moon shifts, the earth churns restless waiting to consume you
The old gods (3/?)
Taliesin was sporting some brilliant tense and focused expressions during the last battle, and I, like many others, am weak to beautiful inspiration and a furious cleric inciting blighted revenge upon the enemies who downed his Paladin.

this fails to include all of the UN's proposed companion text, which reads:
"This place is a message... and part of a system of messages ...pay attention to it!
Sending this message was important to us. We considered ourselves to be a powerful culture.
This place is not a place of honor ... no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here... nothing valued is here.
What is here was dangerous and repulsive to us. This message is a warning about danger.
The danger is in a particular location... it increases towards a center... the center of danger is here... of a particular size and shape, and below us.
The danger is still present, in your time, as it was in ours.
The danger is to the body, and it can kill.
The form of the danger is an emanation of energy.
The danger is unleashed only if you substantially disturb this place physically. This place is best shunned and left uninhabited."
which gives a nice drizzle of cosmic-dread inspiring je-ne-sais-quoi to te whole thing imo
There have always been dolls as long as there have been people. In the trash heaps and abandoned temples the dolls pile up; the sea is filling with them.
What causes them?
Or are they gods, causeless, something to talk to when you have to talk, something to throw against the wall?
A doll is a witness who cannot die, with a doll you are never alone.
– Margaret Atwood, from Selected Poems II: Five Poems For Dolls.

This concept is really interesting
This really makes me rethink the characters decisions. Usually these women are depicted as stupid, vain, or selfish. But I sympathize with them way more when their options written this way
