man, I hate how difficult it is to find consistently good hypno stuff out there. Hypno isn't hard to find, but finding blogs or whatever that share our taste consistently enough to be worth following is a huge fuckin pain. Where's the hypno that focuses on the comfort of the subject before busting out "You belong to me, the hypnotist, now"? Where's the hypno that's not about being sexual, even if there's a focus on pleasure? Where's the hypno that bothers to earn its power over you?? That takes your hand and leads you gently into trusting, safe trance? That doesn't ask you to perform desperation or submission out the gate, or maybe even ever? I want to be brought into trance, inspired to submit, I want to want to obey, not just to be told to.

Oh, I need to write a thing about my experience with hypno. I thought for the longest time that I wasn’t into it because I only ever saw the “quick and dirty” stuff that really plays into the stereotypes of degrading subs and making you feel less than you’re worth, backed up with gimmicky representations of hypnosis.

You know the kind - when I snap my fingers you’ll be completely under my control, or a shiny pocket watch that is somehow supposed to draw you in after just a few swings. I’m sure that’s enough for people who really want to buy into the fantasy, but finding the good stuff is so much harder.

The true magic happens when somebody approaches it as a tool of relaxation. Falling into a state of mind that is so relaxed and zen like that it can then lead to being susceptible to commands or suggestions. Taking the time to drop you into a state of consciousness that’s more akin to meditation, but guiding you to a place where you’re under somebody else’s control. It can be truly blissful when done right and really doesn’t need to be overly sexual, maybe just hinting at themes of domination or ownership.

There are so many facets of it that I enjoy.

- The building dreams and experiences together, finding ways of making words transform into fantasies, sometimes losing agency, sometimes becoming deeply enchanted and be-spelled, walking through dreams or just crafting romance out of poetry that has form.

- Poetry that snakes around the mind and tantalizes the senses, where just reading things is enough to feel them within your heart. To find ways of slowly peeling away the walls and barriers and letting uninhibited submission and surrender in that tender way of just packaging your heart and mind and offering it to your partner.

- Trickery and sceneplay designed to tantalize, tease and torment in the most loving way. Inspiration taken form and used to take power exchange and wish fulfillment to the next level. To me this is romance. To other people that may be hot. But to me it is always romantic.

- Placid and vulnerable expressions, slack jaws and glassy eyes, limbs hanging loose. Transfixed stares and joyful reverie. Every single way to depict hypnosis in fiction and every single display of it I've been fortunate enough to see in real life is so *beautiful* so... open.

- The various different methods. Eye fixation, kinesthetic touch, confusion, relaxation, rapid, flourishing and fancy or focused and intimate. The sheer number of ways of engaging just-- wow. Just-- endless source of engagement.

I love stories, I love practice, I love reading about studies and methods and I love listening to people tell stories. Sell me hypnosis in every package you desire... just... don't use it as an excuse to 'get to the good bits'. To me, hypnosis is and always will be 'the good bit'.
