When people say "porn is necessary to prevent men from raping women in real life," they are implying that:

1. Women in porn act as a lightning rod for deviant sexuality; they take the hit so that women in the real world don't have to.

2. Masturbating to violence is an acceptable practice, as it helps a man refrain from raping women in reality.

3. Women in porn are not the women whom men rape in real life.

4. Pornography, as a phenomenon, is a tool for the mass management of male sexuality.

The most interesting part is the underlying assumption: that masturbation is a way to "process" rage and serves just as an "eco-friendly outlet" for the desire to rape someone.

There is no way that masturbating to pornography reinforces healthy sexuality or one's relationship with their own body. To me, 'healthy sexuality' is defined by both partners being recognized as subjects of action, rather than one (woman) being reduced to a mere object for the other to let off steam against.

Power hierarchies being disembodied from the male/female form so they can continue to exist with less scrutiny is how status quos adapt and preserve themselves despite mass consciousness raising.

Calling male dominance and gender stereotypes “a vibe” is just a way for patriarchy to go stealth mode.

So the gender and role hierarchy will continue to exist to overwhelming support systems of male dominance but because it’s now “a vibe” people will lose the language to name it and pin it down and expose what’s happening. It will be like chasing smoke.

Patriarchy has double ended humanity. Liberal leftists who promote these ideas are securing and locking in the future of patriarchy- ensuring it is fully adapted to modern systems. While trad fans preserve its essence.

This is what gender fan’s fundamentally don’t understand- a man saying “I’m feminine and pretty and dainty so that means I’m a girl” is not contradicting patriarchy. It’s literally right on message: femininity and being an ornament = girl/woman.

They will gladly let the males who failed to embody masculinity call themselves “women”. In the face of high scrutiny against gendered systems this is a very good outcome.

Once wife = mothering/support role that is in service of the breadwinner/leading role the essence of patriarchy is preserved- it means men can continue to do with their doing and evade criticism by saying they’re just doing a natural role. This is IDENTICAL to what traditionalists say - that’s it a natural role- not a hierarchy specifically put in place to benefit one over the other.

Self-defense laws were written for men. This is how they fail women who fight back.

Absolutely brilliant article.

It's about how the unaddressed sexism in 17th century based self-defense law leaves abused women vulnerable in the criminal justice system. Domestic violence victims who's Danger Assessment score indicates they are at severe to extreme risk of being murdered by their abuser do not have the reasonable human right to kill in self-defense or defense of their children because in law, only men are allowed to kill to protect themselves - women's survival and self-defense is criminalized and severely punished.

The one and only option given to women who's lives are in active danger is to end up as a femicide statistic. However, some do not, which leads us here. Rachel Louise Snyder tells the stories of incarcerated women guilty of homicide who've recieved no mercy, facing the harshest punishments the justice system can impose: twenty, fifty years, life in prison without parole, even the death row. She shows how society and the justice system has abysmally failed and continues to fail and punish victims of domestic violence who against all odds manage to survive.

The study this article is based on is recent, published in 2024. No national data existed on the number of women who are incarcerated for killing their abusers beforehand, so this is the first report of this scale that has been made (at the suggestion of Rachel Louise Snyder herself) and an important first step in addressing systemic sexism.

It's part of The Stanford Criminal Justice Center's Regilla Project, which aims to examine the so called female "abuse-to-prison" pipeline, how suffering domestic violence is a major factor leading women to commit crimes. This article summarizes the most important findings and conclusions as well as being touching and emotional.

My colleagues and I refer to this belief as “The Boiler Theory of Men.” The idea is that a person can only tolerate so much accumulated pain and frustration. If it doesn’t get vented periodically— kind of like a pressure cooker—then there’s bound to be a serious accident. But it doesn’t, and here’s why: Most of my clients are not unusually repressed. In fact, many of them express their feelings more than some nonabusive men. Rather than trapping everything inside, they actually tend to do the opposite: They have an exaggerated idea of how important their feelings are, and they talk about their feelings— and act them out—all the time, until their partners and children are exhausted from hearing about it all. An abuser’s emotions are as likely to be too big as too small. They can fill up the whole house. When he feels bad, he thinks that life should stop for everyone else in the family until someone fixes his discomfort. His partner’s life crises, the children’s sicknesses, meals, birthdays—nothing else matters as much as his feelings.
